I'm afraid of PHCN O! I have constant electricity for about 6 days straight now. Almost a week!
I fear that something is wrong. Maybe the switch for shunting our line off is broken. I'm scared that when they fix the switch, they may put off the power for a week.

It just feels abnormal. The last time I experienced this kind of constant power was in '97 so y'all can understand my apprehension.

Or may be they are on strike.

It also happened to me and we paid dearly for it by total darkness for three weeks.

In Nigeria where presidents and governors do and undo just because they are in charge, what stops the heads of the home to also act as dictators. Since families are not like countries, then Men will not act like presidents (dictators). when they say men should be the head of the family don't see as one male that has the power to do and undue or a man that listens to himself only.

Men being the head means he is there to lead and give direction with the support of the wman of course. Afterall the saying that behind every succesful man there is a woman is not a fluke but reality. Men will only succed when women supports them without which the man fails.

I don't think this is a far fetched decision, even the US embassy refuses to grant HIV positive individuals immigrant visas. It is all about protecting themselves. I would imagine the school wont want to be in a situation where they'd be forced to provide costly medical care for students who end up testing positive. Besides how many students who are positive will reveal their status to their peers so they can take precaution

See I can understand if the Us refuses ti give HIV positive people Visa. But we are talking an school in the country discriminating against PLWA. It is grossly unfair.

Anyway i do not know what our constitution says about discrimination. if is not written in the constitution as it dome in the US constitution then the school may not be breaking any law. However, i believe that the school that claims to have a religious bent should read the bible very well and understans that PLWA are also human beings and not animals. It could be our neighbours, sisters, brothers, uncle, and other relations.

Bother Seun and Sister michelle a home need a leader by way of vision . The same way that nations require leaders for directions that is also reason homes need a (good) leader. Leader in the sense that goals and objectives are set and pursued.

There are many examples of disorganisation where male figures are absent. African american communities are classsic example.

That is not to say that Women cannot be good leaders, of course they can be, but, it is usually in the absense of a men.

On a final note, I have heard stories and seen examples of those who chose to stand in solidarity with their brothers from other ethnic groups, during that war. There are some families in the South-West who took care of some Igbo families that stayed behind, during the war. A few have even told stories of how a Hausa man or a Fulani man, stood between them and the northern religious militants, in order to save their lives. We need to be more tolerant as a people. That is my belief.

I want to say that the recent announcement of oil find in Ghana is overbloated. It must be noted that Ghana is presently facing problems which were hihertho alien to the country; a good example of this is the decision to start Power Load Shedding in Ghana. It is common knowledge that Ghana once celebrated 2 years uninterupted power supply. I also know a Ghanian friend who once boasted not to know how to operate a power Generating set.

Thus, we can imagine the feelings of the Ghanian government when the country strated having power outages. Thus, the recent oil find which I beleive is a Marginal find became a veritable tool to pacify a citizenry which has started wondering and loosing hope. In addition it should be noted that Ghana also increased fuel price recently. Ghana is a country of about 20 Million people with one major city; Accra, I wonder why Nigerians can never appreciate their country, Ghana is definitely not a country to be compared to Nigeria by any standards. Furthermore, this is not Ghana's first oil find but her first major oil find which is a marginal oil field by Nigerian standards. Please note that Nigeria is one of the most blessed country in the world and we should learn to appreciate our country. It is a well known fact that there are oil deposits in the Gulf of Guinea which stretches across the coast of West Africa; Ghana inclusive, thus the recent happenings in Ghana should not draw too much hype
