Anyone defending this is just DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB. Even more DUMB than the impedes who are selling the land in Africa.
can you guys not do simple math? stop trying to sound smart, there is nothing smart about this. Africa is full of idoits who think they are intelligent. |

thehomer: For some reason, people don't wonder who is selling or leasing the lands. " bla bla bla the government" just cuz its the government doing it doesnt mean ppl dont have a right to complain. |

violent: I seriously don't get the point being made on this thread.
Are people suggesting that if for instance i have an hectare of land for sale, i shouldn't sell it to the highest bidder simply because he's western?
Doesn't it make sense that those lands that are probably uncultivated and under utilized for years are being sold out to people who have the capital to turn those lands into useful purposes?. . . for large scale farming in this case, which will eventually increase the overall production output of the said country?
Are local people being chased away from those lands. . .and then handed over to foreign investors?
There are American country's all spattered across China, Japan, India, Indonesia, why is that whenever poor Africa is mention, people come out in Arms screaming, "Oh they've come for our oil, they've come for our land". . . .and yet, we lack the appropriate capital or technical know how to convert this resources to good use!
If for instance an American company buys a hectare of land that has been uncultivated for years in Ogun state, only to turn the state into an Industrial hub. . . isn't it beneficial for the state as well?
I see nothing here, but pure unnecessary sensationalism! Well . . I think it's just the minor detail that all the food produced will be sent to foreign countries. Stop trying to be smart. And yes local people are often bring forced of the land, not in Nigeria but in other countries like Benin and the gambella region of Ethiopia. |

Haha, the same old argument back in 2007. Well, I hope the recent events in the middle east taught everyone that the united states is the worlds policeman when benifits the country and is silent when it doesn't. It's also notable that people often ask for American involvement as we can see in this thread, and also in the real world.(Libya) Honestly you guys would it make any difference if the u.s "strongly condemed this punishment"? All that would do is alienate an ally, and make liberals feel good about themselves. |

The saddest part is that unemployed youths In The village are able to refine petrolium but the government still can't. Why can't they let private bussinesses do what they can't do? |

Politics › Re: Should Ojukwu Apologise For The Civil War? by pleep(m): 4:32am On Jun 07, 2011 |
Ojukwu probably shouldn't have to apologize to the Igbos they wanted a war, and they had a very real chance of winning. However ojukwo caused the death and starvation of many non igbos in biafra who were apathetic as to which country they were in. And even worse he dragged the conflict on months after there was no chance of success causeing even more needless death of children especially. Then he exploits the suffering for propoganda?
IMO ojukwu is not a great man, but far worse is Gowon who killed africa's only chance for a succesful state.
There's an interesting book on Biafra "the broken back axle" by proffesor obe ebbe that gives insights into how Biafra was betrayed by people within. |

1stCitizen: Africans and our inferiority complex. Anything the whiteman says is right is right and anything he says is wrong is wrong. When the whiteman took Africans as slaves it was right, he did a turn around after 300 years and it became wrong. "Whites only" was labelled in buses and restaurants for several decades and it was right, later it became wrong. Homosexuality was wrong about 50 years ago and now the whiteman says its right. handling another man's wife in the name of acting is right now. Wait until the whiteman gives 101 reasons why married woman should not take part in such scenes, you'll see how we Africans take it down hook, line and sinker.
Soon boys will start kissing each other in Nollywood in the name of acting. Did I hear someone say her husband is comfortable with it. Tell me which fool will be comfortable watching his wife's nipp.les being kissed by another man because she is an actress. Why do Hollywood marriages always crash?
How many Indian films have you seen with actors groping each other on set like that? When will we be able to stand up, look at the whiteman in the eye and say that something is immoral because it does not conform to our beliefs, tradition and culture. Must everything conform with theirs? 100% perfect post. |
