Correction is advised for the title. Tompolo is an ex-militant, and he also enjoy full amnesty. End of! |
^^^ No. He should listen to the wisdom of the 'elders' and throw his hat into the ring. Well that is if he is man enough! ![]() |
dayokanu: By his dealings and how he has disgraced the PDP time and again, Asiwaju has shown that he is wayy more intelligent than all of the PDP ppl put together including Retardeeen Odechukwu and his generationGreat! ACN should field Tinubu for presidency in 2015! End of story! |
dayokanu: Surely Tinubu has more intelligence in his toe than Retardeen has in his generation of drunken FishermenIf he is as 'intelligent' as you think him, he will be smart enough to steer clear the presidency. But then, I hope he runs so that he will be humbled to know just how much he is despised by the electorates! |
I hope he listens to 'elders' advice. Tinubu for president? What world have we awaken to? |
This should be a lesson to those who are calling for coup in Nigeria. In the midst of the prevailing security challenges, coup especially one led by Northern soldier will create a schism in the army where ethnic loyalty will be primary. Imagine a coup that leads to the demise of GEJ and Ihejirika? |
If there is a coup in Nigeria, it will most likely be one sided. The most resistance will be internal. |
Gbawe: Nothing. That is my point. I.e you are incredibly civil here whereas you were always routinely scathing of Aregbesola in the past. Anyway, you are right. Any political leader who does not perform simply does not deserve a new term. Nigerians should get into the habit of resisting indolent leaders who wish to perpetuate themselves in power by all means.I get your point because I have hard on Aregbesola in the past, you expected more of the same. Typical I should say. Anyway my honest opinion on this is that rehabilitating and maintaining existing infrastructure is the first responsibility of every government. It is good Aregbesola finally realises this. I am not particularly a fan of Aregbe as I consider him a little to slow and perhaps a little too 'rascally.' However, whatever opinion I have of him is irrelevant as long as he does his job and his constituency are pleased. Other than that no amount of propaganda or image laundering by Osun Defender and folks like you will save him from the wrath of discerning electorates in a free and fair election. Best he does his job to the best of his abilities with the resources at his disposal. |

They are welcome to try. In any case the part of the North that can win election in Nigeria anytime soon is well known - North Central! |
antartica: Restructuring in a simpler form means accountability too, giving account of why things sholud be the way it is and what the benefits are boils down to restructuring. If a word can be interpreted in a million ways, it is the duty of the user to explain. Throwing an ambiguous word and expecting the listener to understand your train of thought is not exactly ingenious. Your point is noted nonetheless, we seem to converge. |
shymmex: Since 'we' all seem to know what's wrong with Nigeria - why can't 'we' use the venom and anger 'we' display on NL to find a lasting solution to our problems? It's a 'cesspit' of a country - but is Biafraland, Odualand, NigerDelta, Arewaland any better? We are convinced that the behemoth will be much better if it is smaller, nimble, and adaptable. Smaller united countries can easily be molded into a successful country, as against a large disparate and disunited country. Besides total separation, true federalism, regionalism, or confederation is a better solution. Unlike you, we are willing to try various option as 'to continue doing the same thing, the same way, while expecting different result,' has long been classified as the beginning of insanity. So for Nigeria to be better, it has to 'die'! |
shymmex: Great speech by Ghana's VP. Africa and the whole black diaspora looks up to Nigeria - yet crazy Nigerians want the worst for their own country. So what stopped Nigeria from achieving this in over 50 years? Simply, Nigeria is country, not a Nation. It is wired up to fail, and will continue to fail until it is drastically 'rewired.' Until such a time that is done, we shall keeping resisting the cesspit of a country! |
antartica: But do you know taht nigeria can flourish together if there is rationality? That simple word, accountability can save the whole country from rumours, anguish and miseries of war and backwardnes.Accountability is simplistic! For instance we can account for oil blocks allocation in the country, but does that address fairness, equity, justice, aspiration, freedom, etc? Accountability is not near enough, we need overall restructuring. |
Beaf: Nothing will happen from now until judgement day when the core-North does not get power in 2015.Really? When did he 'convert'? Wonders will never end. Anyway, we await that 'apocalyptic' 2015, knowing that no matter what happens, North cannot continue to out-think, and out-wit the South, thanks to the coming of GEJ, and perhaps special mention of the much maligned Obj. These two helped unmasked the core north as bunch of toothless bullies. |
patriot2: those states are yoruba states, why should we give them out ?No one said you should give them up. 'Trashed out' is the word I used. I don't know the percentage of those state that has yoruba as indigenous group. This is what needs to be ascertain and agreed to avoid conflict with North in case of split. |
Political power has not been beneficial to the North. Zones without political power for a very long time seems to have done better in key Human Development Index. The North should try something else. The quest for raw political power kept them decade their peers. What North need is reawakening, and self help developmental strides. Political power will compound their problem, they should let go what keep them from going forward - political power! |
careytommy: Except secession, they can only do slightly worse than what they're presently doing ......which is increase the bombings in their home turf!Secession! Can the North really secede from Nigeria? That's would be very difficult for them to contemplate. In any case, I would gladly welcome their secession. Only that Kogi and Kwara will have to be trashed out. I don't yorubas allowing them to take with them the 'sizable' yoruba population in those states. |
patriot2: Ojukwu was a soldier he should have formed an alliance with the Yoruba soldiers which he did not do.We are not discussing Ojukwu here. End Of! |
People voted for the candidate of their choice. To expect PDP to lose election everywhere because of the poor records in SW is to expect too much. Other parties are mostly made up of recycled PDP members, so there is nothing new here. Congratulation Mr. New Governor. |
Gbawe: WowHe started road rehabilitation, what is wrong with wishing him well? Or you wanted me to add 'what took him so long'? Bros, I have nothing against your Aregbesola, let him serve his people well. If he doesn't he will get kicked out at the next poll simple as that. |
Ten days earlier, the candidates of CPC and ACN, had withdrawn from the race and joined PDP.Funny stuff from 'progressives' ![]() |
patriot2: Southerners are so stupid, when war comes instead of them to unite they start insulting themselves and they let the northerners attack their neighbours. Ojukwu lost for only one reason: he thought he didn't need the south west.Let's leave Ojukwu out of this topic, even though in Ojukwu bid to close rank with SW he released Awolowo (Yoruba leader) from prison among others. Perhaps you should say what you think Yoruba will do if Hausa/Fulani make Nigeria ungovernable should the lose the presidency in 2015 as it it becoming likely. |
Though a joke, I agree that Dr. Oby Ezekwesili be appointed her replacement. She is amply qualified and experienced. |
Actually it will mean more bombs going off in the North, and perhaps extended to southern part. Soldiers will run rampage in the CORE North and other flash points. If the bombing and insecurity become very extreme and unbearable, Southern militant groups will retaliate. Some Northern soldiers will then try to seize power through military coup, but it will be strongly resisted in the South South and South East. If the military coup impasse countinue for more than a month, the Ijaw Militant Group (if GEJ is the President) or MASSSOB (if Rochas is the President) will reach-out to SS/SE/MB and perhaps SW in an attempt to secede from Nigeria. The Yoruba intelligentsia will urge caution, diplomacy and scream Sovereign National Conference at the top of their voice. World powers will sing discordant tunes. From there anything can happen! |
What can I say? Congratulation Aregbesola for 'commencing' road rehabilitation in Osun State. I hope the contractors do a good job. |
ndu_chucks: I'm with you on ridding our dear country of terrorists. I do however believe that tanks will not do the job. We need intelligence support and drones. That should be instrumental in controling BH and MEND activities as well. We agree on this for once.Well, let's leave the tanks for cases where the terrorists have barricaded themselves in forts. But the drones will do a lot of good. The mere fact that they are hovering up there looking for who to devour will send a strong message to Boko Bastards and their almajiri supporters that it is no longer business as usual. Let the drone reign begin! |
lol, @topic That's what you get when you settle for almajiri economy, in the name of allah! ![]() |
I won't quit stealing, suspect tells Police, Judge Crime Guard Sunday, March 25, 2012 By EVELYN USMAN Sholani street, Igando a Lagos suburb is noted for its serene and peaceful atmosphere where commercial and social activities thrive unhindered. But the situation turned awry and dramatic Tuesday, March 20,2012 after a man rushed out from a canteen and raised an alarm on discovering that his motorbike had disappeared from where it was parked. Just about same time, an unknown person was sighted speeding away on the same motorbike. Other motorcyclists who were attracted by the alarm gave the thief a hot chase and apprehended him. He was beaten black and blue before some policemen from the nearby Igando Division came to his rescue. However, to the astonishment of all, the motorcycle snatcher who gave his name as Idowu Dosumu, admitted during investigation that he intended to sell the motorbike and use the proceeds to eke out a living . Investigation also revealed that the 26-year-old Idowu is an unrepentant thief as he has been arrested severally for the same crime. He was discovered to have been sent to jail on three occasions over a similar offence. But like the proverbial dog who would always turn to its cud , Idowu has proved to be recalcitrant. Inf act, he was discovered to have been in and out of prison custody in the last eight years . In his confessional statement, he claimed to have tried his hands on other businesses but did not succeed and therefore finds ready solace in stealing Hear him, " I am an electrician by profession. But the business got so bad that money was not forth coming. Then , I had to take to stealing because that is the only thing I am comfortable with. "Yes , I have been arrested before and have been sent to jail say, about three times. I was sent to jail when I broke into somebody's house and I was caught and also when I snatched a motorcycle. But I can not remember the offence I committed the third time. However, any time I come out of prison, poverty stares me again in the face and I will be left with no other choice than yield to the temptation of doing what I know how to do best. I went back to robbery because there is no other thing I can do again in my life". Asked if he was under any influence, he responded, " I can not tell. But the only thing I know is that I feel comfortable with what I am doing. I wanted to steal the motorcycle and sell so as to use the money to eat and take care of other things" Asked again if he would go back to stealing if let off the hook, he replied, " I do not think I can leave stealing. So the only solution for me is to be kept in jail for a very long time so that I will not go back to stealing again" He was thereafter , charged to court where he bluntly told the presiding Magistrate at the Ejigbo magistrate court ,Mrs M.B Folami to grant him maximum jail term to avoid the temptation of committing the same offence. But the Magistrate in her wisdom sentenced him to one year imprisonment with hard labour after he pleaded guilty as charged; a conviction Idowu never showed any sign of remorse. http://odili.net/news/source/2012/mar/25/307.html |
JTF kills three Boko Haram members in Maiduguri March 26, 2012 by Agency Reporter 53 Comments Soldiers attached to the Joint Task Force [JTF] in Maiduguri The Joint Task Force said on Sunday that it had killed three members of the terror group, Boko Haram, in a gun duel with soldiers in Maiduguri. Although the total number of casualties was unknown as at the time of filing this report, the JTF claimed to have killed three members of the sect. Narrating details of the shootout to THEWILL, JTF Spokesman, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, said the sect attacked a location of the task force along Abaganaram and railway quarters between 5.30pm and 7.15pm. Musa said, “We repelled the attack and three Boko Haram members were killed in the process. We recovered an AK 47 rifle and 200 rounds of 6.722 mm special ammunition. “The situation is under control but we are still actively pursuing those who escaped. The press will have more information as developments unfold.” THEWILL confirmed that the Islamist terrorists also besieged the Lamisula Police Station, engaging the Police in a gun battle for about an hour, in addition to launching rockets and hand-held bombs to destroy parts of the station. The deafening sound of bomb blasts forced residents of the city to run for cover, even as many people who were held up outside their homes were made to sleep on the roads, as JTF men enforced a 7pm to 6am curfew. Abba Modu, a resident who was forced to pass the night on the road, said the JTF refused to consider pleas to let them drive home after the attack. “They told us that a law is a law,” he lamented. “Initially, we were made to lie flat on the floor and we were subjected to rigorous checks. I had no choice but to call my family to let them know that I would be sleeping on the road.” In addition to corpses deposited at the morgue, eyewitnesses said injured policemen and civilians were rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. http://www.punchng.com/news/jtf-kills-three-boko-haram-members-in-maiduguri/ |
