Truly, Ojukwu was a hero; a great man! Large in live, larger in death! Rest in peace, Eze! |
The lion should given amnesty and send abroad for re-training. I am not joking! |
The big issue which some bigots including the Op is trying to undermine here is the 'victory' of MASSOB! MASSOB was never shut out of the burial. They rather agreed with FG and burial committee to allow Ojukwu enjoy the fruit of his labour - full military honour. MASSOB has shown to be reasonable and indeed pragmatic in this very sensitive matter. Like someone noted earlier, where are those fools who chest thumped that Ojukwu will not be accorded this respect. Now MASSOB will eat their cake and have it. Ojukwu is both Nigerian and Bifran - dual citizen, if your prefer. The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB) has agreedwith the Federal government on the proposed plans to give the late Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu a full state burial. The FG has stated that as part of conditions to give Ojukwu a state burial, all groups, not accredited by the burial committee, including MASSOB, will not be assigned any official role during the burial. According to the statement released on Tuesday by the MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, who spoke through Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, the proposed burial arrangement which had stipulated full military burial for the late Igbo leader has been accepted. “We hail the President of Nigeria for approving full state burial for late General Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the leader of Biafra and Ezeigbo Gburugburu. The decision to stop MASSOB from participating during Ojukwu’s burial as a group which was reached at the meeting with the burial committee and representatives of Chief of Army Staff and Ojukwu’s family shall not be contested. MASSOB had earlier agreed to allow the federal government to complete their burial rites on the the first day and take over the second day," the statement said. |
Ojukwu more than deserve full Military Burial as a Nigerian hero, I will only rejoice however when places of interest in Abuja are name after him by the FG. |
PROUD-IGBO:Aluta! ![]() |
Really it's not a big deal if NA accords the late Ojukwu full rights as one of their own. He was indeed one of their own, as exceptional as he was. He worked for it and has earned in his time as a Nigeria soldier, governor of eastern region, and as a leader of the Biafran Nation. But that said, it is not also wrong for MASSOB to participate in the burial. Secessionists are not criminals, and MASSOB peaceful agitation should not be a cause for worry for anyone who truly believes in justice and peace. I see a parallel between MASSOB, Save Nigeria Group, and the Occupy Movement - they all want justice and progressive development for their constituency. Agitating peacefully for a separate country for Igbos and like culture/minded tribes that may be interested in joining them should actually be seen as opportunity to restructure Nigeria for fairness, equity and progress. I think Nigeria Government should not limit her collaboration with MASSOB to the burial, but should cease the opportunity to open dialogue and negotiation with MASSOB with the aim of addressing their concern. Today we have a peace loving group, tomorrow may be too late! Ojukwu's burial is a golden opportunity to open up a communications channel with them before the go gaga! One Nigeria at all cost is a very costly and unproductive venture. The past 50 years is enough evidence of such. And to the two-faced hypocrite who celebrated when they thought government will not honour Ojukwu's burial only to turn around to cheer the NA involvement in the funeral, I say shame on you! You have no principle, and are very sad losers! |
Buried by government or Massob, Ojukwu status as a hero is just beginning with his death. Besides, who said MASSOB cannot rebury him? |
I prefer an innovative governor who makes a few mistakes rather than clueless governors with little or no initiative to their credit. Carry on Rochas! |
The policeman was wearing boots, how come the dead man isn't wearing any? Conclusion: Wrong pictures! |
Didn't know CBN is now a charity organisation. Now that we are at, how about another donation to victims of yesterday's storm in Lagos, and erosion disaster in the south east? However we ended up with this clown as CBN governor. God help us! By the way, one of my banker friend called me to complain he was forced to resign as a result of merger between finbank and fcmb. He has been in the labour market for a while now. Silently I blamed Sanusi for messing up the banking sector in the name of fixing it. |
Ojukwuism - the study of life and philosophy of Ikemba Odumegu Ojukw the great. Well done, governors Akpabio! Haters should go and hug an armed Ogbunigwe!! |
Those who must pursue, sad, and unfufiling indulgence of cyber bigotry must not only do so with tact and wisdom, but they must also learn to bear the responsibility and other unintended consequence that come with it. Let this falling Negro serve as a template in lesson consequence of unbridled hate, masked as bigotry in a progressive forum like this. Acting under the influence of misguided idealism without regards to consequence will always backfire, it's only a matter of time. Let at this juncture join well meaning Nairalanders, in advising Negro (in whatever form and shape) to expand his life. THERE ARE BIGGER THING HAPPENING AROUND US THAN NAIRALAND! |
what is the country turning into? This act of sanusi is the height of bigotry and acme of nepostism. The earlier this self professed bigot is removed as CBN governor, the better. |
^^^ Lol. Very apt response to the prodding clown. By the way, there is nothing wrong with the creativity of those boys. My first personal Ludo game was on a piece of hard paper 'carton' and my first personal chess piece was made of melted candle wax using pawpaw leave stem as a mould. Ingenuity has never been crime @Negro_nuts. |
@Boneruns, I understand some of them were reinstated after due process. But seriously how did 10,000 materialize towards the tail end of the old regime? What were they all employed to do? Do you think it's out of place to call such magical job creation a political gambit by Ohakim? |
alj harem:Fixed. We don't want his factory bombed in Kano, and Kaduna or do we? |
boneruns:Sacking 10,000 'redundant' workers takes a lot of guts. But it was the right call, judging from the fact that those workers were political 'appointees.' End of Story! |
^^^ Seconded. |
Madam Dora should pursue this matter to the logical end. If Ngige won and declared winner by the court, so be it. I believe Dora case has merit. Let's not cast unnecessary aspersion at her person. Let just be served. |
Nothing will happen to Soyinka. Boko will not dare touch him. End of story! |
Personally I don't want any harm to befall Prof Wole Soyinka. He is indeed of one Africa shining light. It will be a very great tragedy should Boko Haram hurt him. Boko Haram better steer clear from him! |
Happy birthday man. Have a blast! Upload the cake/fun! ![]() |
RIP in peace erudite one. |
Spot on my rascally friend, AregbeRascal. Spot on!I couldn't agree less on this point. Without National Conference anytime soon, we might be heading towards National Conflagration, either way, change is coming. . . |
Ok Rufia of uncouth manners, we all have ears and eyes. Nagode!! |
Well done Governor Obi, even though money cannot bring back the dead, it can at least ameliorate the situation of the bereaved. |
Dede1:Well I share your sentiment that people should not convert any or all part of a major road into markets, and of course the activities of the Keke people do indeed cause some traffic. I was in Owerri last December (btw 22 and 3 January) and trust me, I visited Douglas Road several times. People trading on the road sides, Keke, and heavy vehicular and human traffic, though could be an annoying reminder of economic rising activities, but it does not in anyway constitute filth. Besides, there are other link roads that by passes Douglas, but I am not in anyway suggesting a major road should be abandon to traders. At the same time, what is the essence of using brute force (police and task) to dislocate them only for them to return, when the proper thing is to provide alternative venue (economic centre) and watch them disperse willing into those places to take advantage of the new opportunities. And my brother Dede, na wa for you oo. You are still keeping person grudge you had with Rochas "when Owerri was almost a one-street town." Abeg you, let it go ooo! Haba. Give the guy another chance to redeem himself with you. Anyway, me and you are cool; and I am not about telling you how to live you life. But I see Rochas as a very creative and innovative leader. The problem with creativity and innovation is that you may not always get it right, but no one will say you did not make any attempt. Rochas has made so many attempts, he is not kleptomanic, not short of innovative ideas; and in that most are generally pleased. |
Dede1:Honestly I wonder about your fixation on Douglas Road! Douglas Road in Owerri has a very sizeable market close to the middle of it; there are bus-parks along the same route; and a lot of commercial activities on that road. And the filth you talk about is not as bad as you portray it. I was in Owerri myself during Christas/New year period, and I can attest to this. Even though my journey was as short as Irete/Orogwe to Douglas road, I couldn't help noticing another major road (some say it is Aba bypass) being constructed after the Assumpta/Control area. While there is no single governor in Nigeria today that can be considered a saint, Rochas so far has done enough to win the admiration of so many foes. I won't ask you to stop your relentless attacks on his person but I can't help imagining that you appear to have an axe to grind with one of the shining light of South East. Whatever it is I believe you have you reason to doubt his intention and action. As for the rest of us, Rochas is much better than Ohakim, that is indisputable, and that is exactly what the people of Imo state voted for - progression! @topic I think this is a good move. One man cannot do it alone. However, the supervisory oversight have to be up to the task. In all, if 20 out of 27 of the councils are able to deliver on the project, that is a very solid step forward in the ongoing infrastructural development of Imo State. It is laudable! |
^^^^ Lol. That was funny. @topic, attacking Kano has proved a costly strategic mistake for Boko Haram. Now they have two choices: 1. Concentrate their effort at getting the federal government to open negotiation with them. 2. Disband and disappear from Nigeria. From the government side: there are still many options available: 1. Continue nipping at the leaders one by one. 2. Offer amnesty and financial inducements to the splinter group (provided the have no blood on their hands) 3. Pressure selected northern politicians with possible treasonable felony and allied crimes until the buckle 4. Don't negotiate with terrorists, they can't kill us all! |
