PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland Election (voting In Progress: ) by PointB(op): 12:55pm On Dec 07, 2011
Okija_juju:
You dont get it sir!

I honestly didnt expect to win the Eze Ndi Igbo election in an election that would be dicided by Biafran war mongers, Ojukwu groupies and Rochas Okorocha praise-singers.
Biafran war mongers, Ojukwu groupies Rochas, Rochas praise singers, and other names that you call them actually form the bulk of Igbos in this community.

But fairness was what I was asking for. How does 4 nominess dissappear from the list over night and their names replaced by unknown candidates.
Those nominees disappeared because I wasn't sure if they were interested. Did you see how Abagworo reacted? Suppose he had won the nomination and was polled? How do you think the whole thing will look like? There is no point nominating/electing someone that might not be interested, or embrass those who put their trust in him. Not a single post by those individuals in that thread indicating their interest. For all I care, they might have left Nairaland; and I didn't want a vacuum.

And why is it that just because I dont see eye to eye with many Igbos on the Ojukwu, Biafra and Rochas issues, then people start calling me names and questioning my heritage?!  Has having a unique opinion became an aluu in in igboland?!
Igbo might in the future understand and appreciate your line of thinking. But Igbos of today, hold those people, and place, and events very dearly and passionately. Your non-appreciation of these alienate you. So in my opinion, you are wrong now, but in 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 years or thereabout. You might be right. ". . . time and chance, happen to them all" Your time will come!

If you desire to lead the people,
Law 38: Think as you like but behave like others

Should I now change my tone to reflect opinions that I do not support just to be accepted?!
Anyone who desires power should play by the rules of 48 Laws of Power:

Law 19: Know Who You’re Dealing with – Do Not Offend the Wrong Person
Law 38: Think as you like but behave like others

Your contravention of these simple law, led to the deluge of petitions which unfortunately caused your disqualification. The polity was seriously overheated by the your entrance. And when the protest was getting too loud, I played by the rules.

Why do our people fear change?!
What kind of change?
Law 45: Preach the Need for Change, but Never Reform too much at Once

The changes you were proposing were too many at once. Forget Biafra, disdain Ojukwu, attack Rochas! What else do you want the people to hold on to? Okija? Mba nu. Your changes were just to much to swallow at once. A bit at a time would help your cause, even in real life.

Biafra will not die if Nigeria does not change. And without the demise of Biafra, Ojukwu will remain a hero. And if Ojukwu remain a hero (especially now that he is late), the people reserve the right to hope! How dare you take away Rochas, giving them nothing in return! Na wa oo. Which political school did you graduate from?

I asked for a debate amongst nominees but it never happened. I wanted to show off the opposition for the psychophants that they were.
The people knew the pedigree of the candidate, and the electoral commissioner did not have enough resources to organise any debate.

Well, i need answers to my questions o!! Otherwise, I'll step up the heat!!  angry
There are your answers, and they are food for thought.
Bakassi Boys saga and Osisikankwus matter would be nothing compared to the heat i will rain down on the polity should my grieviances not be properly and adequately addressed.  angry
Iwe na we'm!
In the real world, if you tell them your opinion about Biafra, Ojukwu, and Rochas, you might have to go into forced exile. When your people are hurting, show empathy, even though you have the right to your opinion about those issue.

Politics is an art, not exact science.
PoliticsRe: Jubril Aminu Calls For Ban Of Christian Association Of Nigeria by PointB: 11:22am On Dec 07, 2011
Such statement portrays CAN as the trouble maker, and does very little to solve any problem. If anything, it will encourage more attacks on Churches and other places of worship of the 'infidels' (as Christians are known).

Aminu Jibril, by his unfortunate utterances, has turn a call for peace, to a war cry.

This is very worrying!

Obasanjo sold the refineries through the BPE, Yar Adua came and reversed the sale, Jonathan is still thinking of what to do.
I can imagine.

Now he is being pressured to spend millions attempting to fix it.

For every million he spend trying to fix it, vested interest will spend at least 3 times, to frustrate the repairs.

The refineries are better off sold as scraps - saves everyone the headache of chasing shadows.

jonathan said some people are benefiting from the fuel subsidy and to make us believe him, let us know those benefiting and tell us why. stop them and let us living our normal lives. why are u not asking for refineries? if this govt has good intentions, let them fix our refineries and no one will talk about subsidy.
how on earth do u want to believe that what all our resources can not do for us, only fuel subsidy money will do it.
let us face realities abeg.
Frankly, it should not be the job of government to build refinery. I think government should intensify effort is selling off those refinery to private companies. But the can only be profitable to them if the subsidy is removed.

The fuel subsidy is a snag and a big distraction, and indeed a big waste. The earlier it is dispensed with the better for all of us.

It is inevitable and necessary that petroleum subsidy should go in the best interest of infrastructural development. And indeed the poor hardly benefit from the the subsidy.

Gbawe:
You do realise it is almost two years since he initially promised that States would be allowed to distribute the power they generate "ASAP"? This is gradualist at best but better than nothing.  Man mi, let us see this becoming concrete. Give credit where due but this does not make GEJ competent overnight. It is simply something long overdue that vested interest never allowed to happen. This , minimally, is what must happen to enable States benefit directly from their own generation. PPP arrangements can quickly see many IPP's springing up everywhere. It is like OBJ approving the issuance of telecoms licences. Absolutely inevitable yet still commendable when it happened.
Yes I do.
But I also know there are alot of vested interest who will do whatever it takes to 'legally' frustrate this type of move.

The president can either forcefully and rapidly  push through his policy if he were a civilian dictator
like Obj, or gradually negotiate an agreement which will be all encompassing like this one.

We are too used to dictatorship, that is why we expect rapid changes. In real life and democracy the wheel of government turns slowly, especially when things need to be done properly.

This is why Obama despite all his promises and assurance is still unable to close Guantanamo Bay. When promises confront reality on the ground, the consequence vary depending on adaptability.

Gbawe:
All I can say, if this indeed comes to pass, is a big thank you to Mr. President. I have personally spammed this forum to the point of nuisance about how Nigerian States , vitally, must be allowed , ASAP, to generate and distribute their own electricity so that states with Governors who are really innovative and working can forge ahead leaving the crude thieves and laggards behind.

These are the things GEJ needs to do to get Nigerians behind him. He simply needs to be an enabler at the centre. I actually started a thread , in May 2010, where I congratulated GEJ when he first announced that Nigerian States would generate and distribute their own power. Nothing happened back then. I hope this time , we will see some ratified concretisation of this idea.

Okada Man Dies In Jubiliation - Nigerian Horn

In what may be best described as a celebration gone too far, the event of December 6th, 2011, has reportedly claimed the life of an Ohafia-born motorcyclist, Ojioso Agaumuahia.
According to witnesses who spoke with Nigerian Horn, this incident is not unconnected to the recent announcements regarding the Alaigbo electoral nominees. It has been revealed that as soon as news of the disqualification of Okija_juju was confirmed, Mr. Agaumuahia, with his motorcycle, took to the streets in celebration, performing the most superhuman stunts ever known to man, to mark this historic triumph of electoral justice.
A close friend and eyewitness explains further: "He was trying to do the triple-drift when the unfortunate incident happened."
"I'm not really sure about the whole thing. Everything just happened so fast," continued the witness. "As soon as he was informed of Okija's disqualification, he said he was going to perform a move 'never before seen,'" the witness said.
"So he set out to do a move such that he'd be blazing his bike at a speed of 940km/h while moonwalking on it at the same time. It was only unfortunate he ran into an icecream bicycle."
But after a few minutes of silence, the witness looked up and said, "It was a heroic death. He died for his country."
This is very funny. grin grin grin grin

Okija_juju
This candidate ran the most sophisticated campaign in the contest. Though self-nominated and entering the race late, he was able to single-handedly energise voters especially in diaspora, and romantic youth to support his candidacy.

However, his past 'travesty' caught up with him as deluge of protest against his nomination caused him to falter on RULE 3 of the three rules.

1. Nominations by well known ethnic champions of rival ethnic groups will be discounted.
2. Nomination by and of freshly registered posters will have to be seconded by a older poster without bias to rule 1 above.
3. Posters whose ethnicity/loyalty have been challenged severally by well known Igbo posters will have their nomination/seconding seconded or discounted.

ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER
PoliticsRe: Can We Have Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland? by PointB(op): 11:46am On Dec 06, 2011
STATEMENT ON THE ELECTION PRIMARIES
FROM THE OFFICE OF THE ELECTION COMMISSIONER

The hotly contested primaries of the premier Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland has finally come to a close.

Rationale for Nominations
Candidate were nominated and cleared on the basis of three anti-Igbo manipulation rules viz:

1. Nominations by well known ethnic champions of rival ethnic groups will be discounted.
2. Nomination by and of freshly registered posters (underage voters) will have to be seconded by an older poster with deference to rule 1 above.
3. Posters whose ethnicity/loyalty have been challenged severally by well known Igbo posters will have their nomination/seconding seconded or discounted.

Some candidates were cleared on the basis of the rules, some who were initially cleared stumbled one of the hurdles. Some candidates refused their nominations, while some sought to ridicule the process. Some however siezed the moment to nominate themselves and indicated their readiness to serve, while burnessing their credentials.
The journey has been long, tortous, yet interesting, and very revealing, and very transparent. But one thing is certain, it has produced result.

The final list of nominees is as follow:

Winners
OnlyTruth - 19
Andre Uweh - 7
High Chief - 3
Odumchi - 2

Furthermore.

Okija_juju
EzeUche
Dede1
Asha80
Eziachi, and
Ifyalways

have all been disqualified for various reasons.

The Electoral Commissioner urged the cleared candidates to begin preparation for final polling.

Thank you and may our ancestors guide you.

And may God bless you all.

Okija_juju perhaps is a candidate for the future. He should howver show empathy to his people, if he expects them to understand and show empathy to him. It howver appear to be the case of chicken and the egg, which one came first?

Petitions against Okija_juju are as below:

Other disqualifications.

Others were disqualified for neither accepting their nominations, nor indicating their readiness to serve. Nairaland Igbos do not need reluctant uninterested leaders. That era was in the past. They can however be re-admitted if they accept their nomination. This offer is for a limited time and number.

Odumchi, High_chief,

These two gentlemen alongside OnlyTruth accepted their nomination and indicated their williing to serve. They are worth of emulation.

ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER
PoliticsRe: Can We Have Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland? by PointB(op): 10:54am On Dec 06, 2011

High Chief - 3
Odumchi - 2
