alj_harem: Time to shut u up with your claims,
1.Last time I checked every citizen has a right to be elected in this country
2. Stop spelling Yoruba as Yoruba, if not you go hate me for this forum
3. Bakare was not an electorate but a vice. Dele momodu is FROM EDO STATE, THUS SS
4. Buhari and anyother electorate has all the right to be elected, or don't they
5. Tinubu is on his own, just like every other leader, buhari etc.
You do not pass judgement based on one individual from the ethnic group. You mumu Oga shape shifter, no one takes you serious - not Yoruba, not Igbos, even hausa will not accept you. You are a liability! |

afam4eva: @PointB Abeg, thnaks for disgracing that Gbawe of a guy. Now i recall that it took a sitting minister to write a memo asking that GEJ be sworn in as a substantive president. Some folks are just deluding themselves. Don't mind those guys. Looking for relevance by spewing deceit and treachery everywhere they turn up. Bunch or liars! |

Gbawe: Does it not make sense then , to even a fool, that it is those with most to "lose" who should have come out in defense of what they stood to lose? Will bigotry not even allow you to see just fundamental commonsense? inversely, is it not those with nothing to lose who should maintain a "hands off" and apathetic stance?
Keep deluding yourself. Those not into self-delusion know the truth. Those not suffering from inferiority-complex and are secure in themselves are not bothered to define their existence in competitive reference to others always i.e "best this", "best that", "most believer in one Nigeria" etc, etc.
During the GEJ saga, as has been explained to you many time, yet you persist in obduracy, it was the Yorubas who organised virtually all the protest and demonstrations against the cabal throughout the world. That, whatever you want to believe, only indicate that Yoruba folks are certainly not behind anyone as far as a belief in "one Nigeria". We know your sort will never ever give credit where due and . The right time you should have shown a belief in "one Nigeria" to demonstrate you are the champions of it, as Afam4eva emptily assert would be when "Ebele" was at his lowest . Simple as that and no spin can obscure from that.
Look at all you claim Dora did yet GEJ , a man always rewarding loyalty, never bothered with Akunyili when she attempted to grovel for a position through the first lady after the election. Will GEJ do that against a woman , whatever her offence, he genuinely felt he owed his Presidency to? Everyone knows Akunyili is the biggest politcal opportunist going. She is certainly no hero for "jumping ship" when she and a few others knew that Yar Adua was brain dead. Akunyili would not now be totally frozen out if she is regarded a genuine heroine by GEJ.
Besides, even a child will tell you that you cannot hinge your "we believe in one Nigeria most" assertion on one woman. That is plain idoicy. That ludicrous and vacuosly revisionist , yet very empty boast would be genuine bragging rights , since some are obssessed with such, for Afam4eva if many Igbos stood up for GEJ and turned out for him and if they have a consistent history of fighting tyranny and standing up for Nigeria's democracy. The entire world knows is not the case so take your revisionism and inferiority complex elsewhere. You can continue to wallow in your own web or lies and deceit. Your minions and other band of worshipers can perhaps continue to swallow your lies and in your attempt to arrogate serious importance to the SNG that Dele Momodu and Tunde Bakere were selfishly using as pad to launch the political career. SNG was nothing buy a self-serving platform. Their was not shred of altruism is their campaign. Many ethnic bigots and folks like yourself may not see beyond their nose, but discerning minds of course knew their game plan. And when how did you arrive at the argument that Dora Akunyili was interested in cabinent position, when in actual fact she is still embroiled in a judicial combact with Ngige, Wonders will never end. Lets assume that Dora indeed was not rewarded because she did not put in any fight for GEJ, show us then the reward for Tunde Bakera, and Dele Momodu, and indeed your Yoruba folks who you arrogated the saviour of GEJ. Show us the token appreciation - Tinubu Docking, Bakere humiliation, Dele's irrelevance, or your current political exile? In any case, GEJ knows who did what for him; but of course you can continue to claim credit for your folks, it's quite understandable. Now this is what led to the end of the cabal: Dora's Memo: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-407468.0.htmlDora, took on the cabal from the inside; she was the real hero: http://thenationonlineng.net/web2/articles/35523/1/Aondoakaa-Akunyili-clash-over-YarAdua/Page1.htmlAondoakaa, Akunyili clash over Yar’Adua

Prof Dora Akunyili
Ministers are poised for a showdown over Prof. Dora Akunyili’s memo for President Umaru Yar’Adua to hand over to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan.
A taste of what to expect at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting emerged yesterday, with Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Michael Aondoakaa (SAN) accusing the Information and Communication Minister of "trying to make herself an angel and a cheap hero".
But Mrs Akunyili vowed not to succumb to "cheap blackmail", cautioning that "those who live in glass houses should not throw stones".
Mrs Akunyili’s memo is prejudicial and subjudice because there is a case before the Court of Appeal on the issue, Aondoakaa said.
The Minister described Mrs Akunyili as a self-seeking office holder who wants to make herself a cheap hero.
Aondoakaa said: "Well, first, she did not understand the constitution and she is not following events in the country. I think she was just trying to make herself a cheap hero out of that. If you see what the Senate said, the Senate made an appeal. She does not need the FEC to make an appeal; she can also make her appeal.
"The Senate said it was appealing. You saw the spokesman of the Senate eventually came out and said they have no power to compel the man. Now, there is even a court decision that says that transmission of letter shall be voluntary. It is within the President.
"Bringing the memo to the FEC is just to make herself an angel. She wants to be seen as a populist. Whatever she wants to gain from it is still personal. None of the FEC members has disrespect for the Vice-President. As far as we are concerned, the VP is our leader and he is leading us. What she is trying to do is self-seeking; let her go and confront herself with what happened in NAFDAC.
"We are working as a team and the AGF is there. You cannot just come out as an island and take a decision and try to rock the boat without even consulting your colleagues. Just because the next day the press will bring you out and make you a hero and others as villains.
"But you will discover that out of the ministers, others are working assiduously to make the VP have full presidential powers without talking to anybody. In fact the public does not know that they are the ones working to make the VP assume full powers to carry the country forward. They don’t go to pages of the papers to talk but they are working tirelessly to make sure that this thing works and the country moves forward."
Akunyili warned that those castigating her to first examine themselves.
The Minister, who spoke through her Special Assistant, Mr. Orji Ogbonaya Orji, said no amount of intimidation would make her deviate from the path of constitutionality and the side of Nigerians on the need for Yar’Adua to transmit a letter to the National Assembly.
Orji said: "First, Prof. Dora Akunyili will not dignify such a statement with any response. I do not want to believe that the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation could cast aspersions on the integrity of Prof. Dora Akunyili and that is why my boss will not like to dignify this with any response because all Nigerians are aware of her excellent service to the nation as Director-General of the National Agency for Foods and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
"Her service in NAFDAC remains a positive reference point till today. However, we are aware that for the fact that Prof. Akunyili has blown the whistle through her memo to the Federal Executive Council, all kinds of spurious allegations and cheap blackmail will begin to come in from quarters clearly opposed to her position to stand on the side of Nigerians and the law of the land.
"But we wish to caution that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones because when you point a finger at your perceived enemies, the other four are pointing at you.
"Let it be known that Prof. Akunyili remains a loyal member of this administration and will not succumb to any cheap blackmail." |

Gbawe: To be honest, this is very wrong and another attempt at , it would appear, a constant holier-than-thou need to proclaim yourself better than others. I have seen you write things like this on a few ocassion and I think "how ridiculous". That you are investing everywhere and conducting business throughout Nigeria is no indicator you believe in Nigeria more than others. It may just be your mien for looking beyond your bothers while others are perhaps more conservative. What shows a belief in "one Nigeria" more than anything else , would be standing up tyranny and showing up to be counted when Nigeria is in serious trouble as we saw , recently, when the Turai group took us to the edge. Many Yoruba leaders, more than others, and throughout the world, stood up to be counted. It has always historically being that way. Even look at how it seems it is always Yoruba folks who are the human rights and pro-democracy agitators of nigeria from Fela, to Gani Fawenhinmi, Wole Soyinka, Kayode fayemi, Fami falana et al !!!!
To then to come in claiming you are "one Nigeria" personified because you trade throughout Nigeria is , with al due respect, a pile of BS. The Lebanese have business and investment presence in Nigeria, Ghana and generally Africa. Are we to then infer these people practice "one world" more than other citizens of the world when it is common knowledge that a Nigerian with 3 PHD is still only likely to get a job cleaning toilets in Lebanon? Please, stop this attempt to always see yourselves as better than others. It becomes even more nauseating when you are revising history or using highly dubious premises to do so. Another professional lie from the master himself. Your many Yoruba noisemakers who stood up to shout had nothing at stake; nothing to lose. The one and most important voice in that saga was the one who had the most to lose, including possibly her life was: Dora Akunyili - she is Igbo. You as usual conveniently forgot to mention her name. And when the issue of Jonathan presidency came up, it was Igbo that gave the most important and unconditional endorsement. Your folks were still busy asking for what is in it for them. As if breaking the hausa/fulani born to rule mentality was a bad thing for SW. If that is not standing up against tyranny and oppression, I wonder what is! Professional lies, that what you just dished out. |

The Yorubas and Middle belts groups have been fighting the Fulanis since I can remember. MEND showed Nigeria pepper. The question is, why have YOU done? Answer that before you can start mocking other groups. I didn't hear your mention Itshekiri (well apart from when you were taking credit for MEND). Or are you not Ishekiri? noiseless: Bros, i really appreciate the effort you are investing on this, also i'm in full support of anything which could bring some sort of understanding in dealing with our neighbours in a matured and respectful way (diplomacy). Also for us to be always economically verbal to avoid falling into unnecessary trap, and these can only be achieved by a leadership that is aware the importance these at any level of daily life, however the timing and the title are what concerns me a little bit. Will it not gonna be better to choose a different title like premier instead of "EZE NDIIGBO"? As you know quite well we have just lost our real EZE INDIIGBO and yet to be burried. Also when is the represantitive likely to commence his task? I hope he does not commence his e-office until after the burrial of our GREAT OJUKWU. Who knows this might turn out positively than ever imagined. Thank you bros i hope you will understand my point. I do understand you my brother, and thank for the compliment. Actually I hope to be around when the poll run. After that, indeed my job is done. I cannot lead the Eze Ndi Igbo of Nairaland. He will make his decisions and mistakes; and learn his lessons. Are we oblige to listen to him, certainly not. But will will listen to him? I hope so. Everything is fluid, and no one is certain how this will all pan out. We can only hope for the best. Perhaps if we Ndi Igbo Nairaland will use the opportunity of this poll to let him know what we expect of him, and what he should expect of us, perhaps that will help him decide how will perform. Perhaps other ethnic groups can also suggest without dictating, what kind of relationship they prefer to have with whoever emerges. As it stands, the Mods are have already extend hands of fellowship to them; and have even against all expectations extended their support and facilitated this process. It is all in their hand now if this will stay a joke, or real deal. To this end, I expect the Eze to chart a course. |

Jarus: Very entertaining threads you guys have done here, lightened up by PointB and Okija in partiicular. I have rolling here in laughter for the last 30 minutes.
Beyond the entertainment, and that's where I disagree with Abagworo and Koboj, I think this thread passes a message: Igbos are organized. Remember the first physical get-together of Nairalanders some 3 or 4 years ago was by Igbo Nairalander in London, I think.
Kudos to you guys.
I enjoy Onlytruth's acceptance speech and will give him my vote.
Igbo kwenu!!! Thanks man. OAM4J: Interesting!
I just voted and I wish to keep my vote secret
I guess the new Eze will appoint his chiefs after his coronation and we moderators will have a good working relationship with them.
Well there are many ways to look at it. We can classify it as an ethnic thread because it involves an ethnic group and move it to ethnic section, we can do that also to every thread that focus on a particular state or Governor or leaders of an ethnic group.
But we can also look at the issue; what is taking place here (electioneering) which is 100% politics and retain it in politics section. We chose the later especially more so that it doesn't cause any harm to any other ethnic group or disturbs the overall interest of the section and forum.
Please let it be. We moderators have discussed it and we are cool with it. We even have it on the home page. Thanks man. I agree, the new Eze should be able to appoint his chiefs. If he needs help on that I am sure many will be willing to help. I only hope his new office will not present unforeseen challenges/expectation. At any rate, he would be more than capable. That is what I believe their acceptance speeches implied. And I hope the new Eze will have a good working relationship with the moderators, and other ethnic groups. Perhaps Nairaland will benefit from less ethnic rivalry, or perhaps more ethnic rivalry will benefit Nairaland, whichever way, time, and chance will tell. |

Kobojunkie: I don't need to be moderator to point out that a rule when the rule is not being followed. I am not saying you should not moderate but that you do so FAIRLY and that means that you FOLLOW THE RULES you put forth for others to. Not BEND it whenever you feel you want to but come down on others when they do. Madam, what is the essence of your campaign? To draw attention to your superior sense of morality and uprightness? In what way does it benefit you if this harmless thread is 'degraded' to the sections you desire? Or you just want to show your tenacity for appearing even where you are not needed? For the avoidance of doubt, 1. This thread is electioneering, it belongs to politics. 2. All Nairalanders are enjoined to vote, it is not sectional. 3. The mods, are playing by the rules, and they have stated their reasoning (not like they are even obliged to) Be sensible, and mature, and let it go. Haba! I may just drop dead tomorrow for all I care, but should my message get across to even just one person, then my campaign would not have been in vain. It is not in your power to decide whos time it is or not, you are the electoral comissioner and you are supposed to remain neutral and act according to the laws governing your office.
In otherwords you are saying be a hypocrite just to attain power, right?!
Im sorry but I have my creed by which I live and would not alter it just to become a leader. What kind of leader would I be if I danced to every tune played to me by every and anybody?! This law was written by man, and are not set in stone either.
What rules?!
The same rules you convieniently overlooked when the outcry against Ezeuche was made!? Even when ezeuches comments of taking "Igbo slaves" which was even more damning than mine was pointed out to you with links pointing to threads on which those comments were made, you convieniently made an excuse for him and let him carry on until his withdrawal, but when it came to mine, you immediately remembered that there were rules! Thats nothing short of double standards and conduct unbecoming of a supposedly impartial and unbiased person.
That was not your call to make sir. You job is to sit as an electoral officer and you have rules governing what you can and cant do. You over-stepped your boundaries and abused your office.
I didnt take away Rochas sir!! I only pointed out the flaws in his policies.
When my people are hurting, show empathy?! Who empathised with my grandmother when 4 of her boys died in one day?! Who empathised with the Biafran widows when their husbands died?! Who empathised with the children orphaned by the war?! I paid my respects to the dead, but I stood my grounds on the way I felt towards the Man. Sometimes you have to face the harsh truth. It isnt always pretty but it is what it is, sugar-coated or not.
Like I said, this is the rule written by a man. Rules can be broken.
I intend to set a pace, not follow in the footsteps of men that I dont even admire. I think I have address most of the issues you raised. Well, except perhaps for EzeUche's. EzeUche was disqualified, as you already know. Perhaps because, his name was among a group (quite a number) of disqualified candidates, I didn't think it necessary to explain in details why he was disqualified. At any rate, in disqualifying EzeUche, I took into consideration the several allegations against him, and sensed he would, just like you, be a divisive candidate. I wouldn't have been able to disqualify EzeUche on the basis of rule 3. His ethnicity/loyalty was never in doubt. What he was accused of, was not within the jurisdiction of the three rules. He was however disqualified in the interest of the public. The fact that he did not turn up to clear those allegations, only made it easy to apply the 'None Acceptance of Nomination.' Which affected Dede1, and helped Odumchi and High_Chief. In your case , let me repeat, you (Okija_juju) were disqualified on the basis of Rule 3. 3. Posters whose ethnicity/loyalty have been challenged severally by well known Igbo posters will have their nomination/seconding discounted.Your ethnicity and loyalty were severally challenged in the nomination thread. Rule 3, under which you were disqualified, gave me the power to disqualify even an Igbo nominee on the basis of doubt. Those you wish to lead, said No to you, as they would Ahj Harem, and Ndu_chuck. My hands were tied. Rule 3, asked a simple question about the nominee, how many notable Igbo poster doubt his ethnicity/loyalty to Igbo? In your case, many! I looked for reasons to keep you in the poll. But rules are rules. Again my hand were tied. I did my best to be fair and transparent. Indeed taking off Dede1, was the most difficult of the decision I had to take, if anyone deserves apology, it should be him! On a personal note, I understand how you feel and think about Ojukwu, Biafra, and Rochas, but that doesn't mean I agree. |
