Boko haram threat, maiming and killing of ibo is enough spirit to drive secession spirit but will secession solve the problems of Nigeria ? Secession is just like a divorce between a man and a woman who have dozens of children, the man and the woman gain their freedom but what about the helpless children who had no choice but to be forced to live a complicated life as a result of the divorce of their parents ?
Some idi.ots will never fess up to the fact that Yorubas are killed and maimed in their numbers. Glorifying Igbos death seems to them to best way to shy away from confronting the death of Yorubas and other tribes. The conveniently forgot that from available statics, Yorubas ('fake' muslims, and not living in Christians ) are the easier prey for the rampaging rioters.   They keeping talking about dead Igbo.

Pathetic lots.

GenBuhari:
@ werepeLeri
Sorry to burst your bubble but there is no upper age limit for contesting presidential elections.
The only requirement is that the person should be over 40years old.

I wish Buhari contests , and I hope by then,  Nigerians would have developed the courage to prevent their mandate being stolen again.
I strongly believe that if the 2011 election had not been rigged, Buhari would have emerged the clear winner.

If election after election is rigged and nothing is done to address it, then ultimate it is inevitable that a military government would return.

from  wikipedia:
Nigeria
In Nigeria, a person must be at least 40 years of age to be elected President or Vice President, 35 to be a Senator or State Governor, and 30 to be a Representative in parliament

Aregbesola condemns Tinubu’s arraignment

News Friday, September 23, 2011

BY GBENGA OLARINOYE & DAYO JOHNSON

OSOGBO- Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola has described the arraignment of National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu before the Code of Conduct Tribunal as political harassment and a threat to the nation's democracy.

In a statement by the Assistant Director Bureau of Communications and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Fayemiwo, the governor frowned at the action of security agents who allegedly violated the constitutional rights of supporters who tried to come into Abuja and the court to express solidarity with Tinubu.

He described Tinubu as an innocent and law abiding man whose opponents found very difficult to handle in their search for political power, warning that those who orchestrated the trial merely wanted to score political points with it.

The governor expressed confidence that the former Lagos State governor would emerge victorious from the present trial as he vouched for his innocence and uprightness both in and out of public office.

Also, a second republic Senator, Olorunibe Farunkanmi, yesterday said that the trial of the former Lagos Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is meant to persecute political opposition groups in the Country.

Farunkanmi argued that it was ill timed, politically motivated and would heat up the polity.

The Senator who is a chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria ACN in Ondo State stated this in a statement in Akure.

He said: "It is obvious to every Nigerian that the PDP controlled Federal Government is pushing the Code of Conduct Bureau to harass Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his boldness in leading the ACN to regain Ogun, Oyo, Edo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states from the PDP.”

According to him, over 15 governors including Jonathan Goodluck who was then the governor of Balyesa state and Tinubu were listed for investigation in 2006.

"But nothing was heard about Goodluck Jonathan who now is the President of Nigeria, but Bola Tinubu who left government about five years ago who had worked for many years in the Oil industry and had lived and had many business ventures particularly when he was forced to relocate abroad during the NADECO years," he said.

PoliticsBoko Haram Fighting Guerilla Warfare - Minister by PointB(op): 7:46pm On Sep 23, 2011
Boko Haram fighting guerilla warfare - Minister

Fidelis Soriwei and Adelani Adepegba

A senior government official has said that the security forces are unable to stop the violent campaign of the Islamic fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram, because the sect is engaged in guerrilla warfare.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, the Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, said Boko Haram members usually run from place to place after launching attacks, making it difficult for security personnel to track them down. The minister however assured Nigerians that the Federal Government was "on top of the situation".

Moro, who was reacting to accusations that the Islamic sect's tactic has defied all the ingenuity of government, spoke shortly after receiving officials of the New Partnership for Africa's Development in his office.

He said, "It is not right to say government is losing the battle. Have there been Boko Haram attacks in the past weeks? Have there been bomb explosions today (Thursday)? You can't say the sect has defied government solutions.

"They engage in guerrilla warfare, running away after each attack and making it difficult for security men to get them, but it doesn't mean that they are winning the battle. Government is on top of the situation and very soon, the attacks would stop," Moro assured.

The minister had earlier informed the NEPAD team that the Federal Government was keen on reducing the high unemployment rate in the country through investment in agriculture and other sectors.

The minister spoke even as THE PUNCH learnt that the Federal Government had deployed more troops in Borno State, the operational base of the Islamic sect.

The deployment came a few days after the co-founder of the violent sect, Aliyu Tishau, indicted security agencies on a television interview programme.

Tishau in the interview on Africa Independent Television accused security agencies, especially the police, of negligence in the attacks carried out by Boko Haram, saying the police treated advance warnings with levity.

The Director of Defence Information, Col. Mohammed Yerima, who announced the deployment of more troops to Borno, said the Special Task Force, Operation Restore Order, had been given a mandate to end terrorism in the North.

Yerima made the disclosure while reading the address of a joint press briefing by heads of information of the core security agencies in the country in Abuja on Thursday.

He called on Nigerians to support the operation by providing information to security operatives.

Present at the briefing were the Director of Information of the Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen Raphael Isah; his Naval counterpart, Commodore Kabiru Aliy; the Director of Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Yusuf Anas; and the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olusola Amore.

The defence spokesperson also said that Private Jaduwa Thlama, one of the two soldiers arrested for complicity in the abduction of the father of Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi, in Jos, Plateau State, had been dismissed and handed over to the police for prosecution.

He said that another soldier, Sgt. Victor Essien, described as an accomplice of Thlama, had been referred to a 'higher prosecuting authority in line with the Nigerian Army military ethics.'

Military, others strengthen presence in Borno, Plateau

Gunmen kill two in Borno

THE Military, Police and other security agencies have strengthened their presence in Borno and Plateau states in line with President Goodluck Jonathan's mandate to Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Oluseyin Petinrin to restore peace and security in Jos and curtail the activities of Boko Haram elements.

To achieve the aim, the Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State, comprising the military wing - Army, Navy and Air Force, has raised its strength to 1,200 personnel.

The STF has an additional 2,000 Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel drawn from various Squadrons across the country.

Similarly, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has sent additional 100 personnel while the State Security Services (SSS) has deployed more operatives.

Director of Defence Information, Col Mohammed Yerima, who addressed the media on behalf of Joint Security Information Managers Committee (JSIM) announced that one of the two soldiers - Private Jaduwa Thalma - who was implicated in the kidnap of the father of footballer, Mikel Obi, had been dismissed from the Army while the second, Sgt Victor Essien, a senior Non-commissioned Officer, was referred to "higher prosecuting authority in line with Nigeria Army military ethics."

The JSIM is made up of Spokespersons of Defence and Service (Army, Navy and Air Force) headquarters, Police, State Security Services), National Intelligence Agencies, Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies.

On the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta, the Defence Spokesman said it "resolved to take the current drive in arms recovery to a greater level" and had issued a seven-day ultimatum to "everyone bearing arms illegally in Niger Delta region to come forward and submit them", adding that at the end of the period, "anyone found with illegal arms will be arrested and prosecuted."

Meanwhile, four suspected members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect on Wednesday night in the Maiduguri killed a lawyer, Mr. Alkali Mallam Yusuf, 49, and an artisan with the Borno State Management Agency (BOSEMA), Mr. Sunday Sule, 37.

The gunmen allegedly arrived in the area in an unmarked vehicle, walked into the homes of their targets in London Chiki ward in the metropolis and shot them with a Kalashnikov rifle, which one of the killers hid in his flowing robe.

Sources in the area said the gunmen fired several shots into Yusuf's head and chest, from which he died at 8.30 p.m.

They allegedly moved to the late Sule's house 25 minutes later and killed him with the same gun.

The Police Commissioner, Simeone Midenda, told The Guardian that he had received the report and said the suspects took the lawyer's vehicle and drove into the neighbouring wards of Gomari Constain and Customs area.

it depends on who you ask. There is a guy her called Gbawe. He believes all the state run by ACN governnor are improving rapidly and are not corrupt. But on the other hand all the PDP run states are mired in corruption. That is Gbawe for u.

But if u ask me, i think Ahj Haram was closer to it. Except that i would add Enugu, Calabar, and Owerri to the place you may be very comfortable to leave in. And i would take off Lagos, unless long hours in traffic, potholes filled roads in the midst of high taxes is your idea of improvement.

Very sad. I dont know the whole story, but murderers hardly own up. Besides you dont need to own a gun to commit murder, a victims weapon can be used against him.

Obama probably should have brought his influence to the matter, but he would be roundly accused of favouring the blacks because of his colour. A white president could have easily saved him without any accusation of prejudice.

In any case Troy Davis is dead, and may his soul rest in peace.

I however look forward to seeing all those Boko Haramists Terrorists who killed Police Officers and innocent civilians in Nigeria beg for their lives! I hope this happen sooner than later!
