El rufai corrupt, inefficient, bigot, attack dog, arrogant, a complete idi0t
Rochas
Ken Nnamani
Soludo too technocratic
Fashola (provided he distances himself from the baggage tinubu)
ROtimi Amechi
Sule Lamido gov jigawa
Ekwerenmadu (recycled alot)
Ndume huh don't know him
They could manage the affairs of Nigeria. We are tired of ex-military for now and i prefer opposition or rogue PDP members who tell the truth.
And people should stop calling Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, only the core North and Jihadists will vote for such bigot;

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is more than capable of ruling Nigeria, likewise Rochas

Fashola (even without Tinubu) wont be a good sale; SW simply will have to wait - political expediency.

2015 will be a straight fight between the politically marginalized SE and the born-to-rule North;
Sentiments, tribalism, and religion will play a very critical role; and yes we the youth will be at the forefront of all these.

So sorry to burst your bubbles, being called youth does not isolate one from reality; after all it is the Northern youth that are killing people in Jos and bombing Nigeria in the name of Boko Haram!

2015 fight will be Core North versus South East, if my able and very hardworking presido GEJ, decides not to throw his hat in the ring!

PoliticsRivers State Targets 24-hour Power Supply by PointB(op): 6:01pm On Oct 03, 2011
24-hour power supply is our target -Amaechi

Monday, October 3, 2011

Rivers State governor, Rt HonourableChibuike Amaechi, has said the plan and target of his administration is to have 24 hours power supply in the state by December of 2012.

Amaechi spoke at the 2011 edition of the Nigeria Independence Anniversary Celebration (NIAC) night organised by the Shell Club, Port Harcourt, at the weekend.

He expressed confidence that, although, the power problem could not be fixed in a hurry, his administration would achieve the goal within the set time.

The governor expressed confidence in his administration's ability to deliver on this target considering what the state was doing in both the new Afam power plants and Eleme power plant.

"You know the power problem cannot be addressed overnight, but once our Independent power projects come on stream, power outage will be a thing of the past," he said.

Amaechi further stated that, by January next year, about seven of the ongoing major roads and flyovers under construction in Port Harcourt, would be completed and open to traffic.

The projects include the Ken Saro-Wiwa/Stadium Road, Chief G.U Ake Road, Olu-Obasanjo Road, Obiri Ikwerre/East-West flyover and interchange, Choba/NTA Road and the Ikwerre Road-Agip Junction flyover, among others.

He also hinted of plans to construct and reconstruct roads in Oyigbo. "As soon as the rain stops, we will do the roads in Oyigbo and fix the major roads in the area," he said.

Governor Amaechi, who used the event to list the strides of his administration, remarked that he had embarked on massive road constructions all over the state.

He reiterated his administration's strides to improve security in the State, hence the success of the 17th National Sports Festival now adjudged as one the best in the history of the event in the country.

PoliticsRe: Royal Father Suspended For Alleged Kidnapping In Imo by PointB: 5:29pm On Oct 03, 2011
The suspension came on the heels of allegations of kidnapping brought against the royal father as recommended by the current leadership of the State Council of Traditional Rulers.

The statement added that Onyeneke would remain suspended until the outcome of a thorough investigation into the matter.
Sounds like a preemptive arrest in my opinion. It is also important to note that the governor promised a thorough investigation into the matter. The governor has exhibited maturity, and sound judgement in handling the matter. Kudo!

Vanguard investigations revealed that the suspect, who claimed to be a missionary from Ebonyi State, was first spotted close to one of the classrooms of Waterside Primary School, Owerri, and ordered to leave the premises by a vigilante.

An eye-witness said: “When school was over, the same woman was seen again, and this time with three children. An alarm was raised and scores of people gathered at the scene. The police was later called in and they whisked the woman away
Impressive. Sound like like they don't need serious policing in this state. The people are very vigilant and very good keeper of the neighbour.

Thanks seanet02 for bringing this thread to our attention.

Rochas is certainly on a Rescue Mission in Imo State. Nairalanders, nay, Nigerians are very proud of his achievement so far. He is a classic case of 'so far, so good!' cool cool

I wonder if it had been the President who made this suggestion. He would have been called names as usual.
Very correct!

But because Fashola made very general and largely academic comments; now he should be the president. Na wa for this butt-lickers.

@Topic,

Fashola has said nada!
Lets analyis it:

Said he: “I have been thinking that, is there any way we can create affiliations for British Universities in Lagos and see whether we can render those services that can keep our people at home and also keep the economic benefits for U.K Skills development centres in a way that affords a win-win situation”.
What services? I have been thinking too. Just haven't met the Ambassador yet to let him know that I have been thinking.  grin grin grin

“I have already written to the British Prime Minister on some of these issues. We have a State University which we are repositioning and I think this represents some of the possibilities that we want to leverage”.
Ok, you are repositioning a State University - LASU, I suppose? Carry on! GEJ is promoting new Universities to accommodate and educate the ever growing Nigeria learning populace. I rather we build bigger universities, so that what happened (in happening) in the power sector (inadaquate power station) will not rear it ugly head in the education sector 20 years from now. GEJ has a better solution on education!

He added that he has enjoyed a wonderful working relationship with the Deputy High Commissioner for the British High Commission in Nigeria and his team who are extremely business oriented.
That is how it starts- butt-licking the white man! Tomorrow, wikileaks will tell us other stuff he said in 'private' to the Ambassador! grin grin

The rest of the comment are the official balderdash!

There is nothing worth writing home about in those comments, no matter how much Fashola sycophant would like to twist it.

What defines roads in nigeria? And what does nigerian constitition say about federal and state roads?Getting to the point of thesesimple questions solves the proble of who does what and who is responsible.

It is not about Fashola whinning or asking for too much but about what should be done and by who.About responsibilities
You do have a point. Federal roads are the responsibility of Federal Government, while the State roads are within the jurisdiction of the State Government.

In this thread, Lagos State is asking FG to fix Federal Roads, while Lagosians are also asking Lagos State government to fix State roads. In other words both FG and Lagos state have not lived up to their responsibilities - they have both neglected roads in their domain.

I therefore have every right to say that Fashola is whining, because most of the roads (state roads) in Lagos are death traps, Fashola should do his job! If he thinks he has good reason for neglecting those bad roads, doesn't common sense tell him that FG has equally good reason for not throwing money and resources at the Airport Road and Apapa-Oshodi road. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. Fashola should do his jobt, rather distracting Lagosians by screaming - FG! State roads in Lagos are terribly bad, Fashola should fix them!

The Lagos government should fix the airport road, regardless of the state's chances of being reimbursed by the Nigerian government. Lagos has to view these roads as arteries that carry blood to the vital organs of its body. When the arteries are ruptured, the organs are starved of blood. The federal roads do not exist in isolation; they are integral to the network of roads that carry traffic to the commercial districts and residential neighborhoods in Lagos. Bad roads, regardless of who owns them, are a detriment to the economy of any community they run through.

Visitors who must travel the airport road en route to the city center do not care whose responsibility it is to maintain it. This is their first impression of the type of infrastructure that will serve their investments, if they decide to put their money into the Lagos economy. It is their first impression of Lagos before they arrive at the decent hotels in Ikoyi and Victoria Island, and it renders a prima facie judgment on the culture, government and mentality of the people with whom they have come to deal. No amount of explanation about governmental politics will wash away that impression.
Abeg tell them ooo. Let him (Fashola) continue feeding Tinubu with Tax payer's money (over N2 billion every  month), while whining about F.G. and Federal Road in Lagos. I dey laugh o.

PoliticsState Of Emergency: How Jonathan Resisted North’s Pressure On Plateau by PointB(op): 8:22am On Oct 01, 2011
State of emergency: How Jonathan resisted North’s pressure on Plateau
By Niyi Odebode and Fidelis Soriwei, Abuja
Saturday, 1 Oct 2011

There was pressure last month on President Goodluck Jonathan to impose a state of emergency on Plateau following the renewed killings in the state.

Investigations by SATURDAY PUNCH showed that at the height of the killings in Plateau, some prominent politicians from the North advised the President to impose a state of emergency on the state.

It was learnt that the pro-state of emergency politicians intensified pressure on the President during the crisis, where two separate families were wiped out. Our correspondents, however, gathered that Jonathan resisted pressures from the politicians, who urged him to emulate former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Obasanjo, on May 18, 2004, imposed a state of emergency on Plateau State following the ethno-religious crises that claimed about 600 lives.

Investigations however showed that politicians in the North were divided on the call for state of emergency in the state.

It was learnt that while politicians from the far North supported the call for a state of emergency, their colleagues consistently advised the President against the move.

A Presidency source said, “During the recent crisis in Plateau State, some politicians actually contacted the President and advised him to impose a state of emergency on the state.

“Such people cited Obasanjo, who removed former Governor Joshua Dariye after imposing a state of emergency. But the Middle Belt is not taking things lying low again.

“One of the things they told the President was that if Borno State did not have state of emergency, it should not be in Plateau State.

“But I can tell you that President Goodluck Jonathan is not considering state of emergency in Plateau State. He has said that he would rule like a Pharaoh.”

It will be recalled that Senator Kabir Gaya (Kano State) last month called for a state of emergency in Plateau State.

He was, however, opposed by Senator Gyang Dantong (Plateau State), who described the call as “reckless.”

Dantong wondered why Gaya did not call for a state of emergency in Borno, Bauchi, Kaduna and Kano states, which he said, had recorded their share of violence.

Also, the coordinator of the Middle Belt Dialogue in Plateau State, Mr. Aminu Zan, condemned the call for state of emergency.

Accusing the far North of bias, Zan said, “This is why people like former the governor of Kano State, Gaya, could call for a state of emergency in Plateau and not in Borno or Kano where there had been crises of serious dimensions.”

It will be recalled that some newspapers reported on Monday that some northern governors actually plotted the declaration of a state of emergency in Plateau State at their meeting on September 21, 2011.

According to the reports, the sudden appearance of Governor Jonah Jang at the meeting, was said to have thwarted the move.

It was reported that before Jang’s arrival, some governors from the far North had started debating the need for a state of emergency in the state.

Jang, who did not want to attend the meeting, changed when he got an intelligence report about the impending decision of his colleagues. The governors, who planned to push their agenda through Vice-President Namadi Sambo, changed their minds when Jang unexpectedly arrived at the Niger Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, venue of the meeting.

Sorry you did not get my sarcasm. The point I am trying to raise is that ACN is no better than the PDP they seek to replace. In the actual fact, PDP is even much better as far as internal democracy is concerned. The bottomline is that, Nigeria has no serious ideology when it comes to parties. Parties are basically platform for grabbing power not promoting ideology, nor guaranteeing good governance. Vote the individual that you believe will better satisfy your needs, avoid voting for parties, until ideologies becomes the order of the day!

Hope you are clearer now?

at any rate if members of the middle class in your own words can "afford a car, plan to buy one, send children to private schools, holidays abroad" then $7000 dollars is nowhere near the middle class income, at least not in Lagos, Abuja or Port-Harcourt.

And if the middle class is what you say it is then RenCap's survey is seriously flawed because by saying the middle class is growing, they are referring to the people who earn between $6000 and $7000 not people who can send their children to private schools or holidays abroad!
In a country where government (largest single employer of labour) find it difficult to pay a minimum wage of N18,000 ($116) a month to its teeming working population, you will certainly agree with you dont need RenCap to tell you that the man who earns between N75,000 - 100,000 ($480-645, or roughly $6,000-7,000 pa) is indeed a king.

Besides, I wonder why it is hard for you to accept that at $6,000-7,000 p/annum, one can still afford to buy a pretty modest car!

Think about it critically, one cannot call himself Middle Class he or she earns $7000 in Nigeria because most of the $7000 will be spent providing amenities that are provided by the government in other societies.

The Drum Major Institute, places the range for middle class at individuals making between $25,000 and $100,000 a year.
and that's in the US where many amenities are provided by the government!

yet RenCap calls people earning $7000 in Nigeria middle class!
Middle class is a relative term, not an absolute one. In the past having barn full of yam, 10 cattles grazing on the field, etc may may place on in the range of middle class. While that may not count for much now.

If there is any truth in the frequently bandied around statement that over 70% of Nigerians live on less than $2 a day, therefore anyone who can afford a car, plan to buy one, send children to private schools, holidays abroad, etc is certainly a member of the middle class.

In other words, the term middle class in any society is relative to what the majority in that society are earning/spending.

In a nutshell, this is two people A and B fighting in the middle of the street, and trying to get person C (a dude going to the grocery store) to intervene on one side or another.

Neither A or B know C from Adam.

C's best bet is to observe and watch for a bit, but probably run his initial errand (grocery store.)

A and B of course, it is strategic for them to pretend as if C has any interest in the fight.

A will say, "If you don't help me, you are sitting on the fence."

B will say, "C ronu, oh"
This is some bull crap scenario you are painting. It's is funnier because because the theater of war is gradually been chosen while you recite ABC like a pupil. In any case, since you understand ABC better that commonsense. Let me use your ABC to explain the scenario to you.

BACK GROUND
A,B,C are same neighbors with plenty children in with different religious leaning.

A is over 80% muslim, less than 20% christian
B is over 90% christian, and less than 10% muslim
C is 60% christian and less than 40% muslim

A, B, and C have little or no trust for one another.

PRE-CONFLICT

A became belligerent, and wanted to impose his religion on the tolerant B, C
B, said NO WAY
C said I don't care, it concern me not.

A and B decided to slug it out
B fortified, took the initiative even set-up fortress in A territories

CONFLICT

Due to the religious dimension of the the conflict

A attacks both B and C
(He attack his guest B , because he is a muslim)
(He attacks his guest  C because he is a fake muslim or a christian)

B retaliate against A because A is a Christian
B attack C, because he failed to accept that C is a 'fake' muslim.
C insist, that it is not happening at his home, so he is 'neutral'

COUNTING THE COST.

A - (Muslim) single casualty
B - (Christian)single casualty
c - (Both) Double casualty

MORAL OF THE STORY/CONCLUSION

Never be caught in the middle!
