All those states mentioned .... calm .... quiet ... low cost of living ... wonderful states for introverts and those who don't like sharing space with other people ... especially Blacks.... a rare breed in these states .... not too much violence but when they are ready to pull the trigger.... the whole world knows about it ... 24 confirmed dead ... 39 wounded ... the mass murderer shooter taken into custody. pick your poison.

This is one of my concerns in recent times. Did this gun violence epidemic increase in recent times? About 5 years ago when I was researching whether to go to the US or Canada...I don't think this gun violence issue was really as heightened as this. I also heard its ingrained into the constitution and nothing can really be done about it. Besides, People benefit from the whole madness. What do you guys think about this whole gun violence issue?

Hello everyone. Was anyone affected by the shutdown of the DHL office in Ikeja? How were you able to change your document delivery location? I also want to know if you can reschedule your IW appointment. Thank you

Go to DHL House in Isolo. They have a separate office there where they attend to people. Just tell the security or any of the staffs that your location is Ikeja.

Are you sure that's not an L1 visa; with H1-B the new employer has to just take ownership of the visa with fees. L1 is tied to the original employer and can't be transferred.

H1B can be transferred to another employer but an approval has to be given by USCIS.

L1 visa is given when an employee is being transferred from a company outside of the US to same company within the US. Mostly that employee should be a manager.

Nice thread here. I've been looking forward for something like this on NL. I'm based in Texas, incase anyone has a question they want to ask about Texas. I don't know it all o. I'll just tell you the little I know, based on my experience.
This is so nice of you. I love texas so much, esp those beautiful big mansions but I got a job in Ohio so I will be moving there first. I may move to texas later if God wills.

If you don't mind, you may share experience of when you were a new immigrant in the United States. Thanks.

I am not in the US yet but I am going for work. I thought maybe proof of employment may help too.

Your points are well noted. Thanks

How do you want to get a financing should be the question you'll need to answer. First, financing most things might need you to provide your Credit History in which case you'll need to have your SSN and must've been financing things so they can reconcile your credit scores. But someone else can provide more clarification on this. But I'll assume you're already in the US and already have a credit History. It's easy to get a car.

If you save up and buy a car too, that's good. Some people might advise you otherwise, but I won't. And that's just personal .

Check Facebook marketplace. You'll see people that want to offer their car up for sale. Be sure to know the mileage though smiley

Hello house, this place was quite helpful during my application time for child-birth (2018). I will be going for renewal (interview) in January, please, while filling my DS-160 , do I have to fill in my child’s name under “other persons traveling with you?” Though, we are traveling together but she has a US passport (citizen) kinda looks confusing since she isn’t applying, is filling her info optional? Kindly assist!!

Welcome to the thread @uchetobi

Happy to share that my I-140 (EB2-NIW) was approved this week! ( such a great Christmas gift lol).

I filed I-140 and I-485 concurrently 5 months back. I completed the whole process myself with help and guidance from a few other friends. I did not employ the services of a lawyer (personal preference though).

I have shared resources and links that were helpful for me on previous pages of this thread.

Goodluck to everyone on this journey, may the odds be in our favor.

I’ll be happy to answer any questions ( as much as is within my knowledge) right here on the thread.

No PM’s please!

Congrats

Hello all,

I was told I will need a car in Ohio state that I will be moving to. So trying to weigh the best options. Get a car financing or save up to buy a fairly used car. Someone talked about exploring Facebook market to see some options to purchase a car. What do y'@ll think please?

Not really, I've booked it for a lot of passengers and I can tell you that the traveling experience is World Class, they even deployed a Dreamliner to Lagos.
it's one of the top 3 airline in the world.

Qatar airline is topnotch. I got a city hotel during my layover when I used it in 2017. Unfortunately I heard they no longer give Nigerians a hotel accommodation during layover. Qatar mostly has long layovers though, that maybe the downside depending on how you spin it

Hello everyone

Good to be here. Please let's keep this thread alive.

I will be arriving the US in a couple of months. I will be working in the dayton area, Ohio. Anybody in Ohio I can connect with? I want to ask things around getting an apartment, getting schools and daycare for my kids, getting a car and furniture, Nigerian churches around, African stores around. Just hacks around those things too. Things to look out for, resources available that I should take opportunity of. I am open to suggestions from people outside Ohio too. Thanks everyone.

This might seem like an outlier. I won't advice anyone to use Chicago as POE. Yes, even when you don't have anything to hide! That place has history. And I know two people (personally) who have been turned back.

If you can find another state that still makes you connect to your final destination, will advice you do so.
