First Arik is notorious for not paying Salaries ,why is the Minister not talking about this. nobody is talking about hungry engineers and pilots .the fuel which is almost the same as your regular Kerosene is sold to Market women who troop to the Airport either late in the night or very early in the Morning (most from Ikeja Police Barrack )
No Pilot would depart with less than required fuel on board also because operational flight plans are prepared at least one hour to the flight the issue of missing fuel causing crash can not arise I BEG !!! Also if the Guage reading is in doubt there are drip sticks on the wings and belly (center tank)?where the fuel volume in the wings can be verified ..this is why Pilots report to the flight deck one hour to departure to verify all is okay
How do you siphon this fuel ? Like some one mentioned already the lowest point of the Tanks in the wings has a probe to collect settled water if this probe is left open fuel would flow
Siphoning fuel is more of an economics issue than a Safety issue for the Airline

Helicopters are classified as Helicopters no matter the type of Engine they have, they may be further reclassified as attack,transport,or utility and the correct phrase here is Turbine powered ,would you now call the M1 Abrams tank which is turbine powered a jet even though its classified as a Tank ?

SkySpirit: Lots of people are really ignorant here, fact is training is continous in the military whether war or peace time. For air operations, u conduct armed recce which are also training flights. Again, the crew do train in combat zones since the ultiamte operations would be executed there. Its like going to the world cup and refuse to train simply because uve trained enough before the tourney. Players would still train even on the match day! The dead pilot is a well trained pilot with exceptional competency that am personally aware of. The crash was as a result of technical reasons from info received from those at the theatre of the hostilities. I pay a glowing tribute to these brave men!

Information management,if it was a recce flight then it should be called that in the press briefing,what stage of training do you practice over a hostile theater ? in my own opinion only Pilots who have been checked out at the Air combat training school should be allowed to operate in a hot zone and that means on arrival he is ready to go ,further more flying is not football if you loose you play another day combat flying however needs 110% situation awareness if you loose you're either dead,injured or a Prisoner can you give flight/combat instruction in this situation ? my condolence to the Squadron

The same Megison who started wings Aviation with two Malaysian Pilots ,..Training a new pilot on an Aircraft type cost Money in the past Pilots are trained only to come back home and jump ship for a little more to their salaries or other reasons like no salaries for months of which Capt Noggie Megison is notorious for ,this 170 pilots (who don't have work experience) are suffering the sins of their Fathers as Airlines prefer ready made pilots all na Economics,the states that trained pilots should go a step further and get them type rated that way dem sef fit become expats for other countries
