Great stuff... It would be really nice if there are small projects along the way to show progress and buttress the fact that the teachings actually yield actual results. The main issue per experience has been that you learn a lot of syntax and lines of codes without actually building anything. Projects matching lecture points would really aid learning. A project that does simple arithmetic (UI in front, code behind) to match first couple of classes, and graduate it like that Keep it up bro. Maybe I would finally learn programming with your teachings 2 Likes 1 Share |

Siga: You apparently didn't read the full story. In your case, the amala, gbegiri and ewedu were handed over to you. You then told your brother to feed you. Whatever happens at this point is your responsibility even if you never touched the food. The deal was already signed and delivered. Cardiff opted to allow the player make his own travel arrangements. That isn't on Nantes! So Cardiff definitely will pay up to the last cent! They can hope to recover some of that payment from any insurance companies involved. |

Riqysuave: Getting a PhD position isn't so much about how strong your academic profile is but more about your research area, how robust your past work on the subject is and what your proposal presents. The main issue you will face is finding a Professor in the same field that is willing to accept your application (which is where the quality of your past works in the area and how convincing your proposal is comes into play). If you are willing to fund your PhD studies, then you will find that it would be relatively easier to get a professor to accept your solid proposal. The main problem faced by most PhD applicants is that the professors can't help with funding so they usually reject applications. If you can find some kind of sponsorship or self fund then you shouldn't have any issues getting a position. Your B.Sc result does not matter because you have shown that you can be considerably better as seen in your M.Sc. All the best 2 Likes |

So I got a request regarding a better way to write your motivation letter and I thought my response could benefit others so here goes.... My opinion on how best to write a motivation letter is as follows (based on personal research on how to write a stand out SOP): 1. start with a situation or general problem you feel concern for and state how you hope the program you are applying for will help you gain expertise towards solving that problem. e.g. "Information Communication Technology (ICT) has become an integral part of daily life and business activities in developing countries like never witnessed, utilizing different technologies, protocols and standards that are being modified, upgraded and ratified for use more frequently than ever before. I have spent the larger part of my adult life learning and working with the different technologies and standards available in bringing about complete data communication networks, and the good results have brought great feelings of achievement and satisfaction while failures have welled up inside of me the desire to further understand the advancements and deployment guidelines governing the technologies that provides solutions to the various failures peculiar to developing countries and the world at large. This is the primary motivation that drives my decision to apply for a place in your program." 2. Give a solid but clear background of your academic (CGPA) and professional exploits. Projects done at work, Courses taken, certifications done, web link references where possible. Be chronological here and use a few paragraphs if possible but remember to keep it concise. 3. Reiterate what your goal is! e.g, "My primary aim is to become a top notch communications engineer whose contributions and creations would add efficiency, unlimited functionalities and open up new frontiers, by submitting solutions to major technology challenges". Support this with what you have been doing to prepare you for this goal. Training, studies, research works, certifications, etc. You can also mention awards and leadership positions attained here. 4. State what your research areas of interest but stay open to guidance in the event a better fit for your skill set is discovered. e.g. "My research interests presently lies in network architectures and protocols, network management techniques and mobile networking but I would readily accept guidance to expand or drill-down my research interests as deemed fit to match my abilities and strengths." 5. Close with how you believe the program will provide you with the much needed platform to advance the pursuit of your aim with the support of their world class infrastructure, facilities and students. Chikena. P.S: in case the motivation letter for the embassy is to be handwritten, practice a shorter version of all of these so you can write it in very little time while keeping it superb. Wish you all the best. 18 Likes 5 Shares |

happystep: This right here is a general misconception that was probably started as a result of an unfounded fear. All that is required is a sincere expression of your thoughts and plans. For example, if you have never worked before it will be a blatant lie to say you are coming back to Nigeria immediately after studies because they know that 2 years of just studying will not give you the required experience you need to make the contributions you claim is your intention on your return. A better response would be that you would first take an internship position to build your experience and evaluate your expertise at the end of your study. If there is the need to gain more experience in a particular field, you will like to work and gain that experience. There is no rule stating that you have to leave after studies! What then is the point of the 18 months permit you get after schooling to look for work? If you have some experience under your belt, simply say it will depend on the opportunities that come your way as you are focused on becoming a better professional (which is one of the reasons you are heading out for the MSc) Even saying outright that you would like to learn the language and culture of Germany, thus would like to work and live there after study isn't a wrong response. 15 Likes 3 Shares |

ChabbyGee: This is a unique situation. Right off the bat, I will tell you to note the bold statements above. Those are your key points! The Central Office for Foreign Education in Germany (ZAB) is the central authority for the evaluation of foreign qualifications in Germany and therefore keep a record of all accredited universities worldwide (or at least can verify status easily). Since Uni-assist contacted them to verify the school and their response was negative, moving forward with the application without additional proof of validity of the university will be in vain! I just did a simple search and can already see that the university isn't accredited by NUC. This is despite the fact that it is on their accredited list on Wikipedia (we know that can be edited by anyone though). https://nuc.edu.ng/nigerian-univerisities/private-univeristies/ I also saw that the school has roots from Benin Republic (Cotonou) and a search on the website of the regulatory body didn't yield any result. https://enseignementsuperieur.gouv.bj/htdocs/enssup/universites/ The reason I went through this is because you would have to provide proof that the university is truly accredited and these bodies are your best bet in proving that. Follow the advice someone dropped here and try to get a 1st year result from NOUN, then push again.... Or pray the school gets its accreditation in order. All the best! 4 Likes 1 Share |

Kings1622: The interview questions previously posted should suffice but your major questions to answer would be why you want to come here for a language course when there are a few language schools in Nigeria (the world acclaimed Geothe Institut also), you will also be asked what the plan is after you finish the language course (remember you will have to back this up with evidence and proofs). Chizzy4God: So I spoke with my friend and he said he did civil engineering (https://www.uni-weimar.de/en/civil-engineering/studies/master-degree-programmes/civil-engineering/) but that there are tons of Architecture jobs available....Only issue is that is it usually hard to find Architecture courses in English (his school only offers the M.Sc Arch. in german) and even if you do find one, it is absolutely critical that the german language must be learnt and spoken fluently to get a job (there are exceptions as is always the case but you get the point)... Ogoonna: The race is not to the swift. I would accept the next semester offer and withdraw my present visa application with the embassy (stating that you have been offered admission for next semester so you would be reapplying for visa once winter dates open). Also tell the school to send you a softcopy by email so you can book for visa interview as early as possible (considering the scarcity that occurs for winter applicants) Relax, sit back and plan better than ever. You have the advantage now. Use the time you have to get ready for the sojourn.... All the best 2 Likes |

Ogoonna: Sorry about this. I see that it seems you have a test (or is that the enrollment deadline?) on the 29th of Jan. When asking for an extension, calculate at least 4 weeks visa processing time. If you get an extension that can give you that much time, good. If not, get the extension asap and still send it to the embassy and hope for the best. In the meantime, plan to withdraw your application, start applying to the same school (and course, stating the challenges that made you miss the initial admission (this is usually a sweet spot for your SOP). They usually consider this and should give you a new admission without fuss). Also apply to other schools too in the meantime. Alternatively, send this response from the embassy to the school and as for any or all of the following: a. Enrollment or exam extension b. Possible automatic admission for the next available semester (They can automatically give you an admission place and letter for the next entry semester. If that semester is a year away, they can confirm your admission by email and specify when the new admission letter will be sent to you) c. Plan to withdraw your application and let the school know this step (and why), but state clearly that you are still very interested in the course and as such would be reapplying (this is if the first 2 options are not feasible) Wish you all the best |

Awilibogy: Your statement of result should carry a notice saying it is in lieu of the certificate and valid for a period. Highlight this period to them while explaining that certificates usually take 2 years to be ready for collection (hence the statement of result). If you can get a letter from your school stating that the certificate is not ready, that might help.... 2 Likes |

Ogoonna: Appeal is the only response to a visa application rejection! You had zero chance of losing the appeal because the rejection was not as a result of your performance or false documents. The reason was due to incomplete admission document sent by the school. By opting for a new appointment date, you were initiating a completely new application process different from the one you were given a rejection. My guess is that they did not respond because they expect you to book another appointment via their portal again. Wishing you the best. 2 Likes |

Ogoonna: I am sorry this is coming late as I am just seeing this post. I would have posited that you appeal. The reason for this is because for one, the appeal process would have been really quick (max 2 days) because no process had started on your application due to the incomplete admission documents from the school. The simple solution would have been to write a letter of remonstration (appeal) stating the issues with the admission letter and the solution you found to it. Attach the new admission documents to the letter of remonstration and email it to them. This would have been treated immediately and if all suffices, your application process started. You would have just had to wait the regular waiting period for visa issuance. Asking for a new date with the back log of applicants seeking interview dates is a bigger ask in this case and the bad part is that the embassy will not advice on this matter. I would now advice that you respond to the initial mail asking you to choose to either appeal or get a new interview date, state that you want to appeal and that the appeal letter is attached with supporting documents and copy all the email addresses you know. Hope you get a resolution soon. All the best 3 Likes |

aivewobhor: If all the passport details are correct then the only irregularity is the stamping of a visa that you didn't use. How was it stamped at the airport if you did not leave the shores of Nigeria? If this is their reason (found out somehow), then getting a new passport from NIS without full disclosure is like adding fuel to the fire. My advice, get an immigration lawyer to write them. Might be expensive but you will know your stand Pronto. All the best |

basitd: Programming jobs are the most available jobs in Germany at the moment. The demand is very high and with the lowest entry hurdle (language... Not saying it is not necessary). There are tons of Werkstudent/internship positions while you study and naturally a lot of options for full time employment. If you are already above average in Nigeria, you might want to try to get a job directly if that is your path. There are heavy demands for front-end and back end application developers, big data analysis and object oriented languages. So come with your flavor and you will surely find a nest. Sam8850: This a typical example of why it is pertinent to ask whatever questions you have here because inspite of all the school talks, there are folks here that have some of the answers you need. Several discussions have held on family reunion (this month for sure that has yielded results already), there are also folks here that have gone through the work permit process directly from Nigeria and also via transition from masters or bachelor study. The reason schooling is the core of discussions is because of the numbers gunning for that and the many steps involved. Just ask, there will be answers for sure... 2 Likes |

Hadampson: The truth of the matter is that apart from IT (programmers in particular) every other profession be it STEM or outside STEM need quite a bit of effort in getting a position post study. My advice, forget about STEM and focus on learning the language well. Believe me when I say that no matter your program, if you have say B2 or C1 and can read and write german well, you will definitely find offers. Even System and network administrators have it tough without german. I have many IT Security specialist friends that have B1 german and still being told it is not enough. I also met a guy that studied Law and Economics in English (very little german A1 level) but got a job as a research analyst with a startup in Hamburg. So, what I am saying is that with God all things are possible but try your very best to be in the best position to get offers no matter what course you are studying. There are guys that studied Economics and work in Banks now (Fintiba for example), someone studying english communication and has an HR internship with a big company (english only), friend who studied quantitative finance and now working as a business intelligence analyst....the list is endless. Plan, prioritize, grind, learn and see success fall on you in multiple folds... 14 Likes 1 Share |

So you can use your SL in any city you decide to go to, even after you have landed and registered with it at one city, you can transfer and use it in another city (so long as that city does not have attaching conditions live evidence the sponsor sends you money like some cities in Bavaria) 4 Likes |

SooCute: Learning the language really depends on how much time you can commit to it. If you have the regular heavy courseload with assignments and presentations, you will find it very hard to learn the language especially if what you are relying on is the very slow free school classes. To go really far, you need the intensive classes of 4 times a week of no less than 3hrs each day. With this, you will get to B1 (exam ready) level in exactly 6months. This will of course mean you have to do tons of work on your own. This kind of classes cost money, typically 260euros per month but with your blocked account information you get 50% off (at any VHS school) or 25% at some other schools (not all). The optimal way would be to learn up to A2 in Nigeria and then start from A2 for free in your school. When at B1 (should be in your 3rd semester then), you go for the B1 exam prep classes in a school outside where it is intensive and exam based. Else, take the regular classes in school till your 3rd semester (or the semester you got light workload) and then go for intensive classes from the level you are. Trying to combine full blown courseload with even mini jobs plus language classes will buckle most people and spreading the learning of the language over different times will not help at all. Plan it out and follow through..... 10 Likes 4 Shares |
