DawnEden: Let me put in my 2cents... 1. I would like to know whether my recommendation should include the referee's questionnaire only or both the recommendation letter and the questionnaire? Most schools only require the letter of recommendation but where there is a questionnaire involved, you would have to look at the list of requirements properly for guidance because some schools just require the signed questionnaires but if the requirement states that separate letters of recommendation should accompany the questionnaires, then so be it. 2. I would also want to knw will the university wait after May(which the application deadline) to give one an offer or reject letter? I may not be the best authority here as Freiburg isn't my city but in most cases the schools take a few weeks after the deadline to decide before offers are sent out unless they have a rolling admission policy wherein applications are evaluated as they come in and offers given. 3. What does an certified copy of certificates means? In simple terms: make photocopies of your original documents. Take those copies to either the German consulate in Lagos or any High court and get a notary public to stamp and seal those copies. These stamped and sealed copies have now become certified copies of your certificates which you will send as part of your application package. 2 Likes |

welDONE: The only thing wrong with your question is that it seems to portray you as being lazy with the research you need to get what you want. I do not think anyone here will have the answer to your question because the requirements of each school changes every semester while some remain the same. It is your job to research the schools offering your choice course(s), check all their requirements to see which ones fit your profile and if not sure about their specifics, you can send a mail to the contact person(s) for the programmes to get a more concise answer to your question. So giddy up and do the work, you will be better off at the end. Regards to everyone out here......we all are still here ooo.... |

Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by pompido: 8:33am On Oct 25, 2015 |
duro4real: Let me chip in a few words here. My advice is that you book another appointment immediately with your new passport details. This will most likely be the response you will get at the embassy but I am not trying to discourage you from going there or following all the previous advice given. For you to get to the VO, your passport will be examined at the gate which is where your troubles may start because they will check the passport number and the expiry date before allowing you in. So my advice is that you go with the both passports and present the old one at the gate. You may then be tackled on the expiry issue which gives you the opportunity to explain your way out of it. This is where it will either start or end because if you sell yourself well and they have a workaround then you are in, otherwise you would be told to go and book another appointment with the right passport number. Did you book the appointment before the expiry of your passport? if yes, this may aid your explanations but I am sure they will counter with the fact that the booking system gives you available dates which should inform you whether or not your old passport would suffice. All the best... |

Guitarlife: Hi, Your CGPA is fine but you need to add the requirements for a complete application. i.e. test of english (toefl or ielts), a sound SOP and others. Do a search on daad.de for international masters programs in that field but be sure to expand a little because i doubt there are just telecomms courses. usually comes in the form of media and communications engineering (https://www.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programs/en/?p=l#q=telecommunications°ree[]=2&fos=4&lang[]=2&fee[]=0&sortBy=1&page=1&display=list). do your research, try and read this thread from the beginning (or just read my posts on this thread since i was in your shoes. this will make it easier to just follow all the steps i mentioned here when i started, my questions and the responses i got from the bosses) my school only has digital communications (Christian-Albrechts University, Kiel) all the best.. |

Great stuff... I tried to bid for the Tbills this morning and my bank told me it was already closed so I opted for a time deposit and they came back with a 4% p.a rate Well, the actual plan is to do this for like 2weeks and terminate in time for bidding for the November 5th Tbills sale. Please keep enlightening us on other investment avenues and updates on calendars and such infos would be great. |

frankloloko: I think the first step here is for you to know that you are only eligible for B. Sc programs and that may come at some cost as majority of the programs are being taught in German. Be that as it, there are English taught courses too but few and far between. Your CGPA equivalent will also help determine whether or not you are qualified. So share that with the house and if up to scratch, expect prompt responses. Tchuss |

This way, I legally download all the stuffs i am not sure are allowed here. Finally I can say to EKE.....Welcome to Germany where success is ours for the taking!!! Congratulations EKE!!! I told myself that I will only wait till you testify before I say any other thing about my experience thus far. Emmanuel, God bless you beyond measure, lines are going to continually fall in pleasant places for you and you shall receive divine favor every step of the way. You helped me like you knew me from your village compound. I would call you with numerous questions and you would calmly answer or give me links that could help me further. It is this attitude of yours that has helped hundreds of Nigerians into German universities and economy via the "Pay it Forward" model. Even I (small me for that matter o) can take credit for helping others that succeeded and that fills me with joy that more people are making it out here Once again, I congratulate you and welcome you to Germany. I arrived Kiel via Istanbul and Hamburg on the 3rd of October. Due to my long stopover at Istanbul, I quickly latched on to Obiwann's advice and went to Starbucks for a hot coffee, snacks (paid for these as the airline guys were quite busy so i skipped asking for the meal ticket but by all means try and ask if you are in the area) and the very important free wifi. MTN works in Istanbul (best option in registering for the free wifi to get the code by sms) and Germany. My experience has been great here because the level of organization and planning in this domain is simply amazing. Aibee01 and I keep joking that we will get hit by a car if we go back to Nigeria and cross roads the way we do here because once the traffic light directs to go, we don't look left or right. So many of us have been blessed to be part of this forum and yet there are a lot more people with no knowledge of this forum or even the information available to us. My thinking is that we should all try and spread the word, encourage others and avail them of the information at our disposal, help others with genuine interest in studying in Germany with step by step details of how to achieve this dream, assist with whatever documents or weblinks we have to help make their lives and the entire process easier. I totally understand the no spoonfeeding ideology but i think sometimes, it could be better to simply provide the information if it is easily retrievable than to have a newbie search the entire thread(s) for answers. Sometimes, it may be necessary to turn back the hands of time and start from the beginning albeit updated. A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. The room only ends up being brighter! This motto has helped so many other nationalities quickly become a stronger and more unified unit here.e.g Ghana, Cameroun, India, Pakistan, Korea and Japan to mention a few. Older citizens of these countries help with information and sometimes sponsor letters amongst other things. They in no way expect payback other than for those helped to succeed and in turn help others. I do hope we can continue to grow stronger and look beyond our cultural differences, financial or intellectual capacities to build a stronger unit which in turn will bring the much deserved development to our dear country Nigeria. Dolpaz....I see you Do quick oooo 19 Likes 3 Shares |

@Eke, great one. Prayers Don too much for your matter for the witches to have a say in the matter. Now the captain is ready for take-off. To all, PTA is still very possible as I got some from Stanbic bank at the rate of 225.24naira to 1€. At least two branches of the bank are able to do this (Idaho and Allen branches). All they require is your passport, admission letter and flight booking itinerary. Of course you must have an account that with them as the deduction would be made from your account directly. The maximum amount to that can be collected is the equivalent of $4k so you all can collaborate since iI doubt anyone will be travelling with up to 4keuros. Cheers 1 Like |

Ahbbiey: Smiling: Sis, I studied electronics/computer engr for 5years and luckily had me a PC and later a laptop all through my studies (school and certifications (more than 5) mostly done on my PC). This is just to try and point to the fact that I am close to being a native PC user . In the order I took the exams TOEFL 106 attempt 1(lowest score in reading 24, highest writing 30) IELTS. 8.5 only attempt. Lowest in writing 7.5, highest in reading 9.0 TOEFL 107 attempt 2. Lowest in speaking 23, highest in writing 30) Reasons why I wrote them 3times? Inbox me . I didn't need to get better at these exams because I do not need to read for them so I can only be objective in my opinion when I say that from my experience, whether they make both exams CBT or not; IELTS is the easier all things maintaining status quo. But then what do I know... 2 Likes |

The choice of which language test to take is dependent on the individual. The fact that some people say one is easier than the other doesn't necessarily mean that will apply to all. I have written both (some more than once) so I think I can make a few statements about both exams.....but at the end of the day, it still comes down to those statements being my "opinion" My Scores TOEFL Test 1: 106 TOEFL Test 2: 107 IELTS: 8.5 Want to know my opinion? IELTS is the easier one of the two! My reasons range from the fact that IELTS is paper based and the speaking is usually like freestyling with ideas about the topic being handed to you, the reading is like WAEC passages where you can easily trace your answers to parts of the passages etc. Compare this with scrolling up and down the computer screen looking for answers and having to type answers to questions (scored 30 here both times) and listening to passages to remember everything they discussed when questions come up...etc So as you can see, I prefer IELTS and that is my view..... Meine Zwei Loffeln ist dass yyou do your homework and see which exam style gives you the edge, then go blast that particular exam. Eine Liebe P.S: your score matters.... the higher the better.....remember, getting admitted to a course is a competition so you have to put your best dress on and your best foot forward. 1 Like |

Galads: I believe this is simply a case of DB insisting on you using your home country address as it is generally assumed that you are opening the account from your country. Simply reply the email sent to you and put in your Nigerian address in the format they have stated. e.g street with house no., Alade Street, Plot 21. Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. postal/zip code 23401 city, Lagos State optionally additional address lines (e.g. c/o), country" . Nigeria. The DoNotReply clause does not apply in your case. So do the needful and move on to the next thing. 4 Likes 1 Share |

dolpaz: I also submitted a number of my certificates laminated and didn't have any issues with it. I also know a number of folks that had a mixture of laminated and paper certificates. I am a bit shocked at the statement of certificates not being laminated. Yes, some issuers state the non-lamination of their documents but a healthy number also advise pro lamination. I actually laughed at the security feature statement.. Security features on our certificates in Nigeria! May it happen soon. Amen 2 Likes |

For those booking flights and would like to choose particular seats on these flights, this one is for you. go to www.seatguru.com select "browse airlines" choose your carrier. e.g "Emirates" Select "Planes and seat maps" Select the type of plane listed on your booking website for the trip and an image of the plane will show up. you can use this to determine which seat numbers to check with your travel agent to try and book you on. Other information are available on the website for your digestion. Congrats to all that have surmounted the hurdles to this point, we thank God for his mercies and using loads of great guys on this forum. God bless everyone and grant testimonies all round. I started this journey in January 2015 when a friend sent me the dad.de link to check and see what I can find, as I had been stuck with trying to combine GRE and my work with very little success due to my busy days, late nights and loaded weekends. I checked out the daad.de website and found a couple of courses that caught my fancy but i need more information so i did a google search for prospective german students (in a couple of different ways) and voila, this great thread came up and i started reading from thread 1. After a few pages, I felt like i was in the past and then moved ahead to the part 2. It was the right move as it was in the heat of applications and submissions so I got all the info I needed to apply without even commenting. This is the first phase! God bless everyone that takes out time to ask questions and those that give answers and explanations. The questions speak the minds of many and the answers open the eyes and minds of a lot more. All prospective applicants can be rest assured of one thing, help will always be available here! Gott Segne 7 Likes |
