sirkells: If you have done due diligence by close marking this thread, then I can only assume that you are good to go. Be that as it may, a few pages back would reveal succinct nuggets including some sample tests you may encounter during your interview. Apart from this, know the Country (its borders with other countries, states and maybe capitals and other details necessary), your school, your course and its modules, your reasons for all the choices you have made and a good flowing story about your sponsors. Yes, attach the questionnaire to the application pages and enter details as required at the back pages. It is exactly 3 weeks since you opened the DB account, my belief is that you will get your details any time from today but definitely before your interview. Wishing you the very best..... 1 Like |

Obiwannn: yes oo. Danke Schon bruder. We two interview same day so we bin dey expect am like so. To all: I think it is high time those going for interviews gear up for whatever they may encounter as I just heard reports of VOs at the consulate stating expressly that regular answers given by applicants do not suffice as reasons for choice of Germany as choice country for study. I believe that the consulate have a record high for the number of Nigerians granted admission and actually meeting all requirements for visa approval. This high turn-up is majorly due to this great forum and the fact that every single detail required for a successful DIY process including interview scenarios, cheapest airline and on-ground support are all provided here. So, no matter how curt the VO seems or if she doesn't allow you to finish your answers before cutting you off, stick to your answers and be confident about it! add the lure of new language and new culture et al to your reasons. No matter what, do not show you are ruffled even if you are. End the interview and expect your email to fund (do so) and wait for the visa email. It shall end in Praise. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

Galads: I may be wrong here but I believe it is always the safer option to understand requirements properly. The checklist clearly states what can be submitted to satisfy the "Age" criteria. Birth Certificate from National Population Commission or Declaration of Age deposed to by head of Family So, this clearly shows that the birth certificate from the hospital of birth isn't an option and also that a self-sworn affidavit of age is unacceptable. The declaration of age is to be drafted as if it was sworn by the head of one's family (Father or Mother) and possibly attach their passport photograph to it. All the steps you listed should apply also for this purpose as I got the 250 naira receipt though I paid the guy 1k to arrange it for me as I couldn't wait. I just explained all to him and came back hours later to pick it up and pay the dude his 1k. |

rockybalboa123: The guys at the consulate are really not concerned about how you fund your second year. The rule only covers the first year. If you have got some years of working experience and especially if you are married, the VO will expect you to sponsor yourself! I had the experience during my interview where I was trying to explain to the VO that a member of my family would be sponsoring me. She simply asked me who is funding this whole process right now? (applications, blocked account funding, travelling, accommodation. etc.). I said I am but in case I need anything in future, that member of my family will be responsible. She answered then you are sponsoring yourself and she wrote that in. My point is if you have been working for a while with more than enough saved up to cover all your expenses for the first year, then that suffices for them and thus no harm in that. 2 Likes 1 Share |

pompido: Okay people, I think I was too forward with my initial calculations because GTB just debited my account for the telex charges, 0.5% and the Vat. This clearly shows that the actual rate applied is 1 euro = N 223.0289 Guess it is still a fair rate. |

Hello House, Still on using Form A to transfer to our Blocked Accounts, I used GTB (Ademola Adetokunbo Branch, VI, Lagos) because it is the closest branch to my office. Following all the steps earlier stated by forum members, I went with all the documentation stated and filled the Form A (Please note that a little bit of patience is required in getting the right person to talk to as 80% of the banking staff would tell you it can not be done). I was told that the request would be uploaded into their system and forwarded to my original branch for the actual processing. This was done 2 days later as my account officer called me to clear some issues. I filled for 8100 to be transferred to my blocked account but they maintained that they could only transfer 8040 as stated in the account details sent by DB. This is despite the fact that DB said they would be charging 50euros and that should be noted and my adding the financial breakdown of expenses document my school sent with the admission letter. They maintained that CBN said they will not be paying the DB charges and any unaccounted amount (10euros remaining). So far the 8040 goes through, then let them proceed. I got debited N1,778,813.82 at first and then I called to request for a quick copy of the Telex copy so as to use it during my interview. That was when I was told that the debiting was just to bid for Euro at CBN, once that is successful, i would get credited with the same amount before the total amount for the entire transaction would be debited. Yesterday, I got credited with the N1,778,813.82 and just this morning a total amount of N1,793,152.52 was deducted. Below is a snippet of the notification. Transaction Notification Account Number : ********91 Transaction Location : 635 AKIN ADESOLA Description : FX PURCHASE (SPOT) Amount : 1,793,249.64 Value Date : 27-Jul-2015 Remarks : EUR SALE AA2421146 EUR8040@199.50/1.1180 Time of Transaction : 7:22 PM Document Number : 15022116 I am yet to get a breakdown or the Telex copy but from my calculations, the rates are as follows: 8040euros @ 221.2455 = N1,778,813.82 0.5% of amount transferred (N1,778,813.82) = N8,894 5% of 0.5% = N444.70 Telex cost = N5,000 Total Charges = N14,338.7 Total Amount deducted = N1,778,813.82 + N14,338.7 = N1,793,249.64 The only challenge that may come up here is the fact that GTB insisted on my using a Current account! So please take note! I am only being this granular with my experience so that we all can learn as it applies to us. I simply followed the same experiences and methods stated on this forum by a member. Please ask for clarifications and I will try to expatiate but I am sure the bosses would do better justice. 10 Likes |

aibee01: It was also a pleasure to meet you. ALL: I would like to chip in a few things from our experience today.... If you have done due diligence and read through just this thread, then you are set for the interview. additional question (in addition to what is already stated above) I was asked is: The sea that borders Germany to the north (I think this came because of my destination...Kiel) Note: Please, let everyone try and keep their answers within certain limits especially with the Nigerian VO attending to student visas now (as Ma'am Chinko German is on holiday till August), this is because she asks some questions based on the information given by the person before you. For Example: Efe mentioned the political parties of the Chancellor and probably that of the governor of his destination state, so aibee01 got asked which party the Chancellor represents (we can imagine how that can affect all the configs planted in the brain) aibee01 also mentioned the seas and oceans bordering Germany, so I go asked which sea borders Germany to the north (I only know of the Baltic Sea) So let us try and keep the information as simple as possible and if we can, discuss within your group for the day where to soft-pedal. It will surely end in praise. it was in my heart to help a little because I was helped much 4 Likes |

Futurewiser: I do understand your point about not being too forward or coming across as desperate but i think it could also act as an ice breaker after about 50mins (some spent more) of answering questions and cramping your hands. I do not see the wrong in asking a question such as that after the actual interview was done just to see if smiles come out and so one can go home with a good feeling. (my opinion!). If i remember correctly, someone asked his/her interviewer if it is true that Germans don't play with the beer and the VO replied "find out for yourself when you get there" with a smile! These little things sometimes helps immeasurably but of course I am not of the school of thought that everyone should then start asking questions or saying wisecracks to get a smile. It could also be beneficial if one gets done with it confidently, says a nice thank you and leaves. The second question he asked I believe was not even for his benefit. I remember him saying he might ask the VO just so he can help clarify that issue as someone on this forum asked that question. We are all here to help in the ways we can..... it was in my heart to help a little because I was helped much 1 Like |

nellyb24: I think we all should try and reflect a bit on the information he is trying to pass across as it may simply require a second look to understand his message. The fact remains that he probably has the most current information since he did his interview today. I also did mine today. The point is that the Biographically old document is no longer required as part of the documents to be submitted. Of this I am sure for M.Sc applicants at the least. Eke40seven: As always......a great man! P.S: I am still actively pursuing things my people. Gears have simply changed but God is in control. I did use the form A for funding my blocked account and was just debited this morning. GTBank refused to include DB's charges of 50euros and said all they would be processing is the 8040euros documented in the account details letter from DB despite my many references to the school's list of proposed monthly financial obligations. About 1.78m was deducted in all but on requesting for the telex copy, I was told that I would still get the money credited back to my account before it gets debited finally (I do not know where this is done o but if anyone has experienced this kindly speak up). God bless.... |

olompa: This is a big lesson for all to learn from and adapt the lessons learnt to whatever scenarios we plan on putting forward at the consulate. I have read all the plenty suggestions given here and I have to agree that nothing is indeed impossible but I do have to tilt towards Goldhorse and Eke's advice. Coming clean as they have suggested seems to be the best path to take but also do your homework on the type of business and all that it entails so the VO doesn't catch you unawares with that too. Try and remember every single thing you told the VO about this business and build your response around this. I also think you should reply to their mail ASAP as delay might appear to them as you taking time to think your way out of the jam. I think it will be better not to start the registration process yet, follow Goldhorse's advice and explain the fact that you have discussed with whoever you said is the business owner (father or family uncle) and they would be willing to start the registration process if the VO would be willing to grant you the chance to submit the docs once done. At this point, I believe there can only be 3 outcomes: a. You get a rejection and be asked to reapply (I do think this is a very remote outcome if your response is well detailed and backed with evidences) b. You are asked to state the duration of the processing and to bring the docs once completed. c. You are granted Visa as it seems you did ok during the interview apart from this family business bit. So, indeed nothing is impossible. Just act fast as your time to respond will also count for or against you in this regard. Best wishes. My people, work et al no gree me ni ooo. isidollarboy: I really do not know of any school I can recommend but I know for a fact that daad.de is your best bet at getting the information you require. That been said, I will share with you the steps I took in preparation for my applications, you have a bit of time to put things together without the stress that comes with the late rush for submission. Note: If you can, please try and go for Goethe's summer language class this august. It will save you 3 months of language class for the same A1 certification. Since you are going for a B.Sc course, you will need the German language certificates before you can even apply (except the English taught courses if you can find them and I think even those still require A1 certificate). 1. List out all the schools that offer your choice course and select those with the best fit criteria for you. e.g Hustle, economic state of the city, ranking of the school, location of the school. etc. Also list out important details/requirements of each school under them. e.g Documents to be submitted, required test score, application procedure and deadlines. etc. 2. Immediately (maybe not but soon) book your IELTS/TOEFL exam. You do have the option of choosing a later date for your exam so as to prepare appropriately. The result of the exam is valid for 2years so it will surely suffice for your applications come September. Another advantage of taking the exam early is that you have the chance to improve your score if it becomes necessary as you will still have enough time to do that. 3. Get all your documents ready! This is very important because the processing times for some of your documents may be weeks. e.g Transcript (if applicable), certificates, reference letters and notarization. Early preparation also avails you the time to have as many draft copies of your statement of intent as you require to get the best so your best foot comes forward first. 4. Send test emails to the schools to request clarifications about their requirements and selection processes. Also do well to scrutinize the course content of your select course so you don't end up with courses you weren't expecting. e.g. (I took to my heels after realizing that my choice course in TUHH was filled with computer programming when all I wanted were core data communications courses). 5. Once all steps 1 - 4 are set then you are good to go. From experience, it really doesn't matter when your application gets to them, evaluations will only be done when the selection committees sit to make their decisions. So you can send your applications with 2months to spare. Testimonies abound and are varied about the delivery timelines of Nipost but 2 things are sure about them: They are the cheapest (regular nipost and not EMS oo) and they will always deliver! Timelines vary from 10 - 30 working days so you can be rest assured that your applications will get to their destinations before application closes. The bosses in the house can give more tips to help you succeed. Best wishes... 3 Likes 3 Shares |

stuttMan: I am sure more concise answers will come up but to the best of my knowledge..... NO! You can only access your funds from the bank once the regional alien office has cleared you and extended your visa. It is only with your extended visa that you can visit the bank and have your account activated for monthly release of the stipulated amount. So all in all, there is no significant effect only the extra effort required for the regularization (remember you indicated that your account be domiciled in a branch close to your school. That has to now be changed to your new location). The bottom line here is that in order to save time, you start your visa processing with the present preferred school's admission letter and if at the time of your interview your actual preferred is yet or has offered admission, you can ask the woman at the consulate after you are done with your interview for further clarifications (it may be done in the third person make sand no for enter the done garri ). To our people that will be attending the Goethe Institute Education seminar please do well to ask this question and lay the answers on us. Wishing successes to all due for interview today. 1 Like |

stuttMan: Ok.... I get your point! I will give you the same answer the bosses on this thread gave me... If for example you are given admission to TUM Munich but you would rather go to Stuttgart (from where you are yet to hear from) You start your Visa processing with the admission letter of TUM (whose offer you will accept at that time) and obtain the Visa with TUM as your destination. Before your Visa arrives, Stuttgart calls upon you with the admission of your choice. You of course accept the offer with all your heart and start making plans accordingly (Registration, accommodation, contacts etc). Once you have got your Visa and ready to leave, you book your flight to Stuttgart. Get to your school and explain to them that they were your first choice but processed with TUM to save time, they will register you and direct you to the regional alien office where the necessary processes will be done to register you as a student of Stuttgart and not of TUM. They will also extend your visa by 2years for studying in Stuttgart and that information goes into their immigration system. Remember that the visa you get for here is only valid for 3months and as a matter of fact, once you don't show up at TUM for registration, you forfeit the admission there automatically. I hope I have broken it down enough....... 2 Likes |

stuttMan: For the first question I will leave it to the more experienced gurus. To question 2, my reply will be a question...... Have you started your visa processing? If no then better start with any of the schools that has already sent you copy of the admission letter. You can always decide where to go much later after you have got your visa. Get a move on!!! |

Shoutout to the fellas that has been very selfless in providing all the help they can and even opening communication channels to others without knowing them from Adam. God bless you guys. God knows your house addresses! To the more important point of my post, I got shocking information today from a forum member who came to Lagos to open blocked account as I have been trying to encourage early processing once admission notice is received. To my shock, he said he was at the consulate at 5:30am on Monday and was number #9. Only 5 people was attended to and the others were told to try the next day. His interaction with others revealed that they had been there for a few days without success. He had to get there at 3:30am this morning and still met 4people there at that time! Luckily, they attended to them all and he has his interview date scheduled accordingly. Lesson of the day: if you are yet to decide on your mode of sponsorship, please do and get cracking because the consulate is becoming swamped with requests. All the best to everyone... 1 Like |

Kelvinpam: @Kelvin, people have talked and preached about how to certify/notarize your document right from thread1. Except specifically stated by your intended institution to use the embassy, then by all means circumvent that process. There are several options available: 1. Ikeja High Court: Simply go to the High Court beside the general hospital and get one of the ladies there to help you take it to a notary public to certify for you. Negotiations will vary between 200naira to 400naira per page (advice: form regular customer and stick to 250naira per page). Another option is to go straight to the office of a notary public inside the high court but that may mean higher price because those lawyers know their agents (my 2cents). 2. Igbosere High Court, Lagos Island: The same process as above applies here only that the negotiations is usually on the entire bulk of document so it may end up being a bit more expensive. 3. Lagos State Secretariat (Ministry of Justice): They supposedly have a department that handles certification of document and negotiations are based on the whole lot. The above is also applicable to all states in Nigeria and not restricted to Lagos. The whole process takes about 10-20mins, so for those under pressure to send their docs have all your docs already packaged to send, complete certification and sealing, walk down medical road (street beside nipost ikeja (only for lagosian ) and you will find Fedex and courierplus offices to send your docs immediately. If Dhl is the better option (student fee things) then google their office in ikeja and proceed. All the best to everyone. @jetjet: we are still waiting for your exposition oooo.
