I hope sey una read my epistle and digest am... Start the nairaland hustle from jamb 2008, 2010 boys sha make am... Graduate school hustle Don start... Abeg sirRiddy and danjaninja can I have your email or what's app number would like to communicate with you guys on the next steps to take .. For those who can also help, I no belittle una oooh... My profile for now still Under graduate 3.56/4.0 marine sciences, fisheries major, Gre 310, I'm working on publishing my project into 3 papers bless.... Other things needed should be indicated |
I got to jkk around 8am, hoping the exam would start by 10am, since it was a standardized exam, we didn't start till like 11am. I met one nairalander at the venue, nice guy, he recognized me and came to greet me, even during this hardship faced in nigeria. The whole venue was very boring na him I spot one unilag babe, we got chatty, all gre fly comot for my head. Did the data capture, they collected everything we had on and gave us pencil. Started with the first section, it was blessed, as prescribed on the 1st page, I used Kaplan for my issue, it was smooth, It was a topic about studying the a society and the city, and just showing that a city is Germane to study of a society or not, I didn't practice with ets pool of topics because I wanted the exam to be like a exam were I would be able to think creatively, and not try and remember a topic I have practiced earlier. The argument aspect was better, but I couldn't conclude well, Manhattan book helps you in seeing 1001 flaws, too much points too little time, I articulated them well, but my conclusion didn't pull through about 5 lengthy paragraphs. 2nd section was Verbal, I knew my strong point in verbal was Reading comprehension, the first set of text completion were abstruse, I couldn't find the pattern easily, I answered some correctly(maybe), I moved to my the RC, 1st Rc was short , blasted it, under 2 mins, next was the usual 4 questions very long RC, I practiced with coadcoax, so long RCs were a blessing, unlike the short ones filled with so much logic, long RC I read it calmly, I identified the main idea, the tone, and other senrenre, I wrote the RC down like a tweet, so the whole thing was fixated to my mind, Sentence equivalence on the Real gre is not the type you see in those books oooh, they are not the popular synonyms, they make sense individually. If you look too much at the options, another meaning enters your head. 3rd was the Quant, In my mind I said this is the time to shine, the questions you see on the 1st part of the gre are the ones gruber made is 25 strategies about, there is no need for too much calculations from the 1st to like 5th question, just your the test of knowing that a variable can carry any sign unless stated and Co, i wondered why ets always reiterated that to you should know questions you miss during practice, they have a format and these questions would hunt you, I fumbled in all the 3 data set, I didn't practice data set in the last 4 days of the exam, I thought it was moimoi as usual, but the charts I saw!... I missed the usual compound interest questions which I always miss, you won't see this interest and Co clearly stated I 5lb Manhattan and the rest,I also missed the independent probability question which I always miss, I missed like 5 or so In this section. 4th section verbal, it was easier than the 1st,it was clear I either performed woefully in the 1st part or It was the experimental section, it was straight forward, the text completion were the normal ets style, clue, pointer and gre vocab, RC was harder for me now, they were short, they were more and would require more time. Only one on RC scaled through The 5th was quant, the first question was like a RC it was long, from practice tests, I noticed the 1sr questions are tough, the question after quantitative comparism tough and after data set too tough, they are time Consumers, but I made a mistake which I always knew was a mistake, I wanted to ensure I performed well In this part because I Don mess up for the 1st quantitative, I was solving to the letter, lo and behold I met one of my favorite missed questions, instead of skipping, I ran ri mo , chop valuable 3 minutes, moved on to the data set, the one was even more complex 8 mins, 7 more question to go, I didn't know one there my eye just dey see black, next question the sum of a recursive set that is in every ets material, I missed it and he choop time, I was able to run through the last 3 questions about to click answer for the last time dissappear, I said to myself, this is the end. When I clicked the next section and it was verbal, none of my quant was experimental they were the real shit!!!! Last section, I clicked continue continue continue, I didn't even look, I said to myself, I Don fail gre, I looked at the guy at my side that one didn't have clue, I garnered hope, I just did the last section, one kind one kind, even RC, I skimmed for the pointers and answer questions using the bad options methods, I finished my Gre and I told myself, omo u Don cast, 65,600 Don burn, I didn't want to report scores... I reported scores blah blah blah... Quant - 156 Verbal - 154 310... 156 was my minimum score in Kaplan online test, I had 2 156,1 158,1 162...in verbal I had 147s highest was 150... Princeton I had 153 in my 1st quant, 162 in my 2nd, 150 and 153 were my verbal scores Manhattan test 159 quant, 154 verbal. Power prep 2 149, 158 were my quant scores yeah I did the power prep test 1 twice, verbal 150,152... I didn't do power prep 2 2nd test, I read it like 3 days to the exam.. My little advice, the 1st page of this trend can give you a good gre score but find what works for you. Verbal, : verbal grail, coadcoax and 1014 Princeton, magoosh flashcards and that new meme software that dude recommended days ago is very good, but it was late Quant : 5lb Manhattan, official guide, ets quant set, kaplan online quiz and gruber you are good ... Need to buy a single text book buy the official guide and get a good Internet connection, the Internet is the best resource... To access the Kaplan online portal for 2016, the answer is text More gist dey I just gats summarize... Danjaninja special thanks sir... You are a blessing and bless up to everyone who helped me and the Facebook group was the place I got confidence after the 149,150 score in power prep 1 test... The difference from the 149 and my 156 score now was the material I used to study..... |
I Don write oooh... Make I come share epistle wey long pass book of epistle.... |
Profojah2 ojaaaaaaa!!!!... No be so oooh, you just forget to ur guy.. Since buhari Don give you Akoka constituency |
Lol yeah, botany... What's his nairaland user name sirRiddy... We were in science together... |

Congrats sirRiddy, but sirRiddy the ojah you talking about, is it the ojah, I might know, I know a particular ojah that finished from unilag chemistry..pls if he is the one kindly relate... Tell him ejanla hollaz |
Battoyyeb September is good, depends on what you aim for, plus all your materials there's no single ets material there... You can get OG, the quant and the verbal.. |
From page 1 to page 80, every post by DanjaNinja was a hit back to back to back. My exam is on Wednesday.... What are things to do and not to do now... With practice tests, I noticed I often miss questions that are quite very easy, those with '' could'', '' if'', ''must'', or mixing up a plus and minus sign, dividing 16 by 2 to give me 7 the whole gist that GRE is super tough makes one even misread the questions... My practice tests scores have been in a range sort of, make baba God just top my score.. I have done all of Kaplan online, I did 3 Princeton, free Manhattan test and the power prep, the hype of the power prep made me fumble in it, I can say it's the easiest of all the tests, I over expected and since they say it's a reflection of your final score, the fear not to under perform sets in and I mixed up a lot of plus and minus, and the rest... Danjaninja, sir riddy and the rest of the senior men on here, please help me through this last days ooooh, what and what do you advice a brother man do few days before the exam, I am even down with malaria sef... Naija life! |
My participation starts after my exam Danjaninja, so I would be able ushered into the table of men... '' you see in the gre ehn'', '' after you finish your''... By the grace of God and in due time, I would also start using those phrases..... |
Danjaninja, blessed are thy posts... Our lifting up is sure....still watching from the sidelines tho... ... |
Sir riddy God bless you... Nice one |
@temi4fash Stroll to tejuosho, you can even buy the official guide there or Manhattan 1-8 books |
Is it wise to shift exam date? |
Dicapino, sir riddy, Devon and lamexx I'm very grateful... You all are far too kind... Bless up |
Thanks lamexx , so can anyone help with safe schools for marine resource assessment/marine reasons management /biological oceanography.... Bless up!!!, I'm also surfing the Web, but your suggestions would be highly appreciated |
Those who have written the Gre, is it compulsory I pick 4 schools on the day of the exam for my scores to be sent or I can do that at my own convenient time, because I want to base my applications on my Gre score?. |
Egbon mi layez, I'm a tyro at the gre but with few I have done little researched (I Don enter sites, forums, Google, quora) and confirmed through few practice tests, official gre guide and power prep II, for the quantitative Nova is best to build basics, Gruber 2015 gives you the solving skills you require, the downloaded ets quant shows you how the questions come which are all in Gruber 2015,but overall 5lb Manhattan and Gruber = perfect.. For the reading comprehension I just downloaded the software for the highly talked about coad coax site that was closed down few days ago and trust me it's worth the hype, your eyes would open to RC, for TC and SC I have been using magoosh 2014 videos to know major concepts and practice with Princeton materials, their explanations are very helpful. I pray God crowns my efforts with success because Verbal no be here oooh..... |
Layez, the new or more recent text has a stronger correlation with the recent style of questions and they are more explanatory, New concepts are emphasized in clearer terms.... |
I want to do my international passport which is a requirement for my exam on may 25th, is it safe to pay online and attend the interview as stated on the immigration website with documents stated? |
I think it's kind of wiser to use 2015 prep materials, I just discovered I have been stressing with the old ways..... |

Dicapino thanks a lot, meaning I'll stick to 5lb Manhattan, since most high scoring individuals have testimonies about it.. And my use of Gre vocabulary has increased, I used Kaplan grouped words towards the end of the book, sought for their meanings and Gre synonyms. Word power made easy is bae, you just get happy as words unmask it's meaning to you during text completion and sentence equivalence... Am way addicted to nairaland.com, and I actually spend more time on here than reading. Lmao... I just wish there could be timely GRE articles posted here that could at least benefit the mind, reading skills and vocabulary, new yorker and the rest I exhaust my free usage too early |
Which text is the best for Data interpretation questions and Reading Comprehension... I'm good on other aspects but these parts really consume time. I read the crunchprep RC page, it has helped a little. People who have excelled in this test, please how did you tackle those sections |
We should try and form a synergy here rather than just drop your email to enable you to be added on the Facebook page. Most of us are studying :gaining experience and having little problems... This thread should really focus on *achieving high gre scores * Naija, let us share little things we know would be helpful to people, who are yet to write the exam. |
Answer is 1....dont go too far PEDMAS.. BODMAS |
Thanks @pennstate |
Many people who don't know the real story just keep commenting and commenting Bullshit....she was late to school,... *that's why she lied about 8am*...the prefect told them to kneel down, she refused, and she was utterly very rude, she slapped the prefect who reported to the principal. The principal ordered she should be punished and she was given four strokes.. She walked out of the school angrily and started a sweet show on social media..... |
This topic is becoming less inspiring as people just come here to observe, post bad news and seek advice... What about those people who have written gre recently until you got admitted or got rejected... Kindly share your exam experience... That's the point of this platform... Kudos to those who have been keeping it real... The first page of this group was supposed to be a guide to way things roll, only a few people share here.. Even study experience and all we don't.... Na just to observe, hear news and Waka... I'm not perfect too though |
Nice one kapitain... God would bring big things your way |
@kaptain what's your profile |
Who has seen the new United States visa rule... Omo na to Jack jar commot for naija oooh.... |
