Cos sometimes those riders, I wonder if it's just plain stupidity or they just wish to pass the night in a police cell. I want to put myself in the guy shoes, maybe he just don’t want to waste his money like that or no where to get another from last night. Whichever, he ended acting a f**l and needless drag. My eyes saw shege yesterday. Police pack me and riders to station for the first time. Around 11pm, I pick this guys from ebutte meta to Ogba. I was just blowing real speed as I have to get home before 12. that was how we jammed polizia opposite Mega Chicken, after scaling thro a check point at Alausa. They’ve questioned themselves if anyone have load, best they lighten up as it seem polizia were in corners. Me I just face my steering and keep blazing. We got stopped and all man was asked to alight. They found what I don’t know with one of them. Interesting to say, how they just close check point immediately. No need for searching again. Bundle everyone to command beside Ikeja high court. I didn’t even say a word, I was so tired and my last trip is stressing me out like this. We got to the station and the next thing they ask was you “sabi u be Uber” Oya collect your money before they enter”.
I was like wetin una come carry me do here then. Took my money and didn’t even bother to pick any trip again. |

dapotemi: Nig is saturated with low income earners..drivers, janitors, clerk, office assistant, warehouse officers, are categorized as junior cadre and MANY do not go home with 100k.. Most people in level 4,5 and maybe 6 in alausa earn lower than 100k. Lagos pay higher than 99% of other state..This folks are married with kids and they get buy, albeit difficult I must acknowledge.... You see ONLINE, all of us are billionaire...better you used your tongue to count your teeth!!!If PBAT dey nairaland he won't increase minimum wage because na billionaire full here...until you open app see Dem asking for jump start cable to start their car... If you're conducting a research on poverty index you better don't used online for any demographics because we are all Erimus here...I have never seen any poor man on social media! What ya say? So if driver ask for jump start cable, means he can’t afford it? Now I see why you have to follow a rider to VI, while you do whatever to your car. Very thoughtful of you. |

But once you challenge the offence, a kobo can’t be deducted from it and you’ll have to pay before I stipulated time. Secondly, it depend on your connection. On the flip, I don’t think you can have a discount on 20k. |

Pearl1910: Try and fix it, as camera is picking u, ur fine is increasing...just make sure u are on the right side of the law. U wey like to go Surulere, and yaba VIO always changing positions in that area. I hate begging or putting myself in a situation that someone will take advantage of me. na now I dey avoid VIO and Road safety because of Lasdri, Hackney permit and faded plate number. Normally, I don't fear them because I know everything is intact. Your money didn’t increase once your car picked. Whatever you were picked for will be there till it is cleared. I have already done my road worthiness. Went for inspection and was told to come back. Did that twice and got tired of going. The mad queue and everything. In ignorance we learnt. Now I know you can go to anywhere to inspect and it doesn’t have to be the particular center. That was how they give me that. How they book me for insurance is what I don’t know till that. I can fight it, but once you do and it doesn’t favour one, then the money can’t be reduced. Right now I can pay 20/30 out of the 40k and clear it. I’ll clear it sha. |

Pearl1910: Bro... That's d standard even in America or UK u have to have a valid DL on u and present it when asked by law enforcement, anything outside that u are paying a fine. Omo I watched one UK Road Traffic show on DSTV, guy I can tell u for free, we are enjoying here. Both Private and commercial, DYNA and Pickup trucks carrying overload, we are all enjoying finger slapping enforcement and even when they fine us it's nothing compared to the obtainable standard that u are talking about. They can fine u up to £800 in one stop and still impound ur car, then u fix everything in the yard before u get it back, Just car defects or expired documents. Am not even talking about traffic offences that endangers life o (That one na court straight) You can’t compare developed country to ours. We are enjoying is a dicey statement. Everything is fighting one here and that has somewhat messed our way of reasoning. In USA your car won’t pass test with check engine light, most drivers won’t even pass driving test. We all know what developed world is meant about, they make life easier, you make the money, but pay for every thing (esp that Uk). If I’m not wrong, as long as you are willing to work, future looks brighter over there. Here? Even if you have 50m, one live in uncertainty of the unknown. Our laws may not be stiff and can easily been bend, but our earning power is almost zero. If we are honest with ourselves. The hustle is getting harder. Yes! We can make more money now, but major car issue can swipe all. Fake parts everywhere. Take a look at the man that was said to hanged himself at lastma office. 70 to 150k fine with a minimum wage of 30k 😂 where’s the sense in that? Road safety are not stupid for ticketing each count for 3k. Lagos state laws are draconian and mental draining. I saw one lastma lady snapping cars a day before yesterday, she will soon send it for her cut. There’s honestly no mercy in this Lagos, just learn to live with you conscience and find a way to go about your way. Nobody holy or over smart. Interesting to say most of these officers barely have one valid paper in their personal car. It’s in this country you’ll see officers using uniform to drive korope and danfo. Boss leave naija… sometimes I wish I can join one of these forces. |

Pearl1910: Even if his friend was the Head of that station, ones u have been ticketed, u must pay d fine. U cant cut corners on that one. Even if u call Sanwoolu, Max he will give u money to pay Also if they want to wicked u, u will go for that training, and bring tax clearance before u get your car back even after paying all the fines... Una never jam problem for this Lagos. I agree with you. I don’t believe in fighting or dragging with any officer. For me it’s both smile and argument while I keep massaging his ego. I’ll try and fix my road worthiness. One thing i don’t like about all these officers, if they mean motorist, they’ll almost see something to pin one. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by pope191: 10:30pm On Jul 17, 2024 |
Pearl1910: Normal thing is to have your DL with u anytime u are driving. Na person wey like fight and quarrel go dey go about breaking law na. U drive without DL and u don't have any original car document to keep as collateral , and u want to quote law, or fight instead of settle, they will impound ur car and tell u to go and bring licence before u get it back. U have 40k fine on ur car, the day VIO stop u, u go pay the fine plus tax clearance and fix any other coma for ur car before they let you go. Prevention is always better than cure. I am not against one doing the right thing, only stating what should be obtaining. Obviously they will impound your car till you can provide the necessary document and not ask one to pay 10k. The whole system makes licenses profiling hard and needlessly expensive. All I’ll say on that. |

Nah God they protect person sha, but make all man open para eyes. Norms you can drive without driver’s license as long as it is valid and you can produce it within 24hrs of request. That’s what the law says, just these people are always quick to ticket one before jack. I’ve been driving without road worthiness for more than a year. In fact my offences mad, including fade plate. They say I have 40k on my car and won’t pass me for inspection. Till matter burst and hopefully it will be a day I have the strength. Right now, we’ll be using madness to port madness. Glithronix: I went to Osun state on Friday for an event, just got back home now. Omoh, we dey suffer for this our Lagos. Throughout my stay and cruise around in that state, there was nothing like hold up/gridlock, no agbero or owomida at every bus stop and garage. No stress. You can park anywhere and no stupid person go come harrass you. I parked at the hotel I was lodged and went out for local cruising, it was a total different experience. Keke napep and Okada can go anywhere without any single owomida, ticketing or marker guys. The only thing you see on the road na police who are peaceful. No touting. Just go about your cruise. Omoh, it felt like I was not in this country, cos I no believe say I can park my car anywhere without disturbance. Their Keke and Okada only take one ticket for the day and go anywhere you want to go. Omoh, Lagos na total crap. The old and ancient houses in Osun are very attractive to me oooh, cos everything was just peaceful and calm. Peaceful atmosphere. E come dey be like say make I migrate go Osun state. Same thing when I went to Oyo state. The peace you will enjoy in these villages can never be gotten in Lagos State. Lagos is overhyped joor. The only thing that I rate in Lagos is the business aspect. Lagos is overcrowded. No natures (trees and forests). No environmental calmness. Not organized. Just some overrated state we live in. Chai! I don miss this Osun state already.
Much respect, bosses. Barely any life in Lagos. I’ve lived in Imo, Anambra and Delta. Job opportunity is one of the major problem in these areas. If you find something worth while doing, you’ll have some sense of sanity in life. Leave home 15 mins from where you’re going and you will still be on time. Close from work at 5 and by 5:30pm you’re already at your relaxing mood. Anxiety is far from you, access to fresh leaves and fruits. Lagos is obviously the hub to make money and madness at the same time. No doubt, that man scattered Lagos, Fashola tried to make it comforter for occupants to some level, but Lagos boys no gree. The uncle there is kick and start. I doubt if he even have any idea of his. If housing and road network can be solved, Lagos will be a convenient place. Won’t tell no lie, the subsidy really ease traffic from Lagos road. |
