Using a 2006 corrolla before. It displayed same symptoms. Shortening of oil . 2weeks for 1 litre. But I don't mind.
If I can eat 2k in a day. Why can't the car eat 4k in 2 weeks.
I have been on that module for over 2 years. Car is as silent as ever.

Check for the seal @ the pulley and the seal between the gear and the engine body.
Especially the middle one.

Good morning guys.
So yesterday, I went with my mechanic to get this car. We left from Ifo Ogun state to Ikorodu.
He inspected the car and affirmed that the engine hasn't been tampered with and the gear was in good shape, although there were obvious exterior flaws which didn't matter to me and the automated dashboard wasn't working. We paid and took off, getting to Agege, the car broke down due to overheating and while at it, the gasket was burnt, the radiator wasn't good.
Some men helped push it to a mechanic workshop around (the mechanic with me came from Ogun state so apparently there's no way he could fix it without his tools).
The Agege's Kazeem charged 70k to change the gasket, fix these radiator, oil gauge stick because it's burnt and oil (engine oil and gear oil) just an extensive servicing though.

Now my questions are;
Seller is swearing that his car wasn't overheating hitherto.
1) is it my Kazeem's fault that he couldn't spot the overheating till it got that bad?
2) Car is parked at Agege and we are asked to return on Tuesday (I've paid for everything including even to fix the dashboard (37k). Who is to cover these expenses? Especially as the car didn't even follow me to my state let alone home? The seller or me?
3) is 37k not overcharged for a dashboard? (Asking for future's purpose not like I can get the money back.
4) We've scanned the car and it's alright save for the overheating. My confusion is, could the overheating (radiator was leaking water) have started few minutes of us driving from Ikorodu or it has most definitely been an issue before now? Abi my Kazeem is just an overrated idiot.

This is no fun point to be. Buying Naija used is like acquiring liability. The better percent of seller have this relief and here is what I was trying to warn you about. The fact that you left his place with the car, does not mean you won’t have issues. What most do is to pad the car as far as leaving their street and whatever happen next becomes the new owner business. I’ll advice you relate with the seller, if he is willing to be of help and ask the oil he uses to service engine and transmission. Think of any vital information you may need as well and later him for life. The more the car gives you headache, the more you feel like pressing his neck. I hope the car doesn’t give you much stress… but I feel it’s about time you look for a better Kazeem to help you do all assessment. Understand what you’ve entered and how to find your balance. Saves you time, expenses, and headache needlessly.

Had a terrible experience today.
Picked this idiot guy from university road to "Lord Jesus estate around chevron....11200. My first trip this morning, on indrive.
When I got to the gate of his street, the flood was so much(picture attached) his house was just 2 houses away from the beginning of the gate. Pleaded with him that I can't enter cos the flood is kinda deep and my car is low. He insisted I must enter. The guys at the gate told me not to try to enter. They said all the cars parked outside the gate belongs to occupants of the estate. They park outside and use rain boot to enter.
There was a guy giving out rain boots for 1k. This idiot said if he will give the guy the 1k for the boot, then he would deduct it from the 11200. I refused and told him he would give me my complete money.

We dragged it for almost 20 mins. He started calling his people. So I felt threatened. I decided to call the police via the app. Immediately he had me reporting to the police, his friend abi brother that drove out from the estate with a high jeep, started saying; "the person you dey call police for, him papa na oga nla of police.....na you dem go lock for cell"

After much dragging, the guys at the gate started telling him to pay me my complete money and forget.....that he's bigger than this.
He eventually transferred my complete money, after wasting my time for 30 mins +

Funny, but that’s the essence of bolt to them, nah you no go panic. Those days I use car to swim Agungi water, never me. Water getting to my bumper alone is a no no, not to talk of getting to condenser level. The only grace any rider can have in time like this is if we hit heavy downpour while on trip.

On Friday I got a trip from the end of silver bird road to around freedom way for 4500. Hmmm what a sweet trip 😳🤒 rider was sha directing via map because I am around Yemi Adetayo. Telling me locked gates and flooded areas. I got to a street and saw water from the beginning of the street to the end, like 3 cars are driving toward me. So I stopped and ask one comrade how far? He nod his ahead and signal I can make it. I put head, I didn’t get to half of the road, before I engaged reverse. Gently cancel trip and find my way out of the area.

Raining season like this, just avoid phase 2 and Sangotedo. The comrades living around their should sought their riders… but people can rent nonsense in this Lagos🚶🏿‍♂️

When I bought mine, the person add 350k to buy Corolla, I saw the so clean Corolla. What did I see here? He’ll sell the Corolla 3.5 today with a variance of above 1.7 million, but you think the Civic should not add beyond 200k difference. Please what’s the hype in Corolla? Go check car today and see the Corolla they will be calling 3.6 last., nonsense and tapped engine everywhere. You can’t even see me inside Corolla. Nigerians make me dislike that car with passion. If I am using Corrolla, know it’s for the resale value. Engine move from 450 to 1m…. I pity for some drivers atimes, robbers keep aiming them as well. You can’t even have Corolla as a private car again.

The last car I’ll use for this hustle is big daddy. There’s a reason they call it big for nothing. I have both Hyundai and 08 civic. The Hyundai is a sweet ride, but won’t leave profit for luxury. I no come count bridge for Lagos. I use the 08 civic once in awhile, but went back to the 04. 08 seems to consume less gas, but can never match the strength of 04. I fix my 04 by myself. The car know me and I know the car. When you car becomes your best friend is one of the best gift.

Initially I thought I’ll have issues with riders due to the size, I realized having the best car without AC is a recipe for insults from riders. Keep your car clean and ac pumping? Then you are good to go. Lot of Toyota peeps that are stuck right now and find it hard to fix car. Engine 1 million nah play?

I won’t say fix, but manageable. Changed the gasket and the weather has been favorable for driving. While changing the gasket, we realized man has to start planning for another engine, but went ahead to change the gasket and smooth the top. I’ve been using it and work has been going smooth so far, no such things as off again, slight vibration once in a while(maybe in hot sun, but morning and evening is perfect). Engine is around 280k though, so I am bracing up for come whatever. As for the vibration, I am suspecting one of my fan, might change it next week to say if it will resolve that.

The fact that the steering work while leaving his domain, does not mean it will work after a week. Also check if the car have any traffic or expire papers offense with Lagos state.

From my novice experience, if that’s the issue with the car, then it’s not a big deal. You don’t buy a used car and not expect to fix anything. Every car have come with is worth and value. Toks bidding price starts from 6.5m, while naija used from 2.8 to 3.7m pending on the value. Why not take a mechanical to the place and let him or her check if it is worth the price?
