Glithronix: Boss, if one owns his own car and he's doing this e-hailing hustle and he's not different, maybe we should help such person beg his village ancestors. If We wey dey do rental dey flex (categorically), what more of a car owner. More money, more problem? Ahhh, e don choke be that. Much respect, boss. Rentals mean owner fix car right? If you do 120k weekly and you give owner 30k, 25k on fuel, 12k for app. Then you should have like 50k to yourself. The downside of this job is having a good car, but as good as your car may sound. After 2 years things may not be the same, that is if it gets up to 2 years. All the work I have been doing this Jan have been going to car. Lining and pot, socks... I still have engine sit to tackle. If you have a car and you have like 150k in your account that is making you to feel like you have one money somewhere car never show you shege. How else do an ehailling driver want to look good. Shirt and Jeans with pams, AbI you want they knot tie and shoe. The hustle and sun burns one out. Just make your money and damn perception, you as a soul should decide what's important. One of the lessons I've learnt from this hustle is a beggar do have a choice. |

Imagine if I have my own ride now and be using it to make money, even na girls go dey trip for me, cos my outlook will totally be different. One small girl will now be using me to catch cruise. I am not understanding January is always like that. Most we collect their salary and the money won't amount to anything. Debt every where, it took March salary for most workers to balance. ReadaDream: Boss let's leave this argument. These things happens without prior notice, too. It's a machine and can decide to move mad at any given time.
First week of December, my car was driving very fine, not a slightest hint of impending breakdown. I dropped off a rider, parked under a tree in the estate. I got a request and made to move to pickup, I crank the car and it won't bulge, all lights on dashboard lit but it won't start. I concluded it's battery, went to get a battery charger to jumpstart.
He came with his battery, we tried to start, it rolled the engine but the whole engine bay was shacking, I said let's add my battery, we did can came to life, only to hear a loud bang! Upon examination, serpentine belt has snapped.
I inspected all the roller, only to discover that my steering pump has hooked! Something that was working fine, no oil leak, nothing! Just decided to move mad.
You can have a spare fuse and don't know where to touch or able to diagnose the exact fault. Pearl don't understand.... no matter how long you use car, it will breakdown unannounced one day. |

Pearl1910: Well...u have a point but people in government have to be held accountable. when I say the system, I mean having a water tight system and an independent system such that even if it's the devil that becomes president, he either does the right things or we kick him out. Terrorists went to free their brothers and no one resigned, no one was fired. People are being killed in d NW, NE, NC, South East on a daily basis, sometimes we see videos of their operation in broad day light and no one is made to account for the sloppiness of our security agencies. How can fraudulent people gain access to positions in government when we have DSS who is supposed to screen people in public office. How will somebody come into office and steal when we have Accountant General, Auditor General, EFCC, ICPC, etc. So u see everything u mentioning has a check if the institutions where working fine.
Don't try to police individual lives...let people make money however they like, if they go against the law, d law is supposed to catch up with them. People get loans to travel out and they work and pay back, or get scholarships that reduces their tuition or deferred payment such that they pay their fees after they graduate and start working. If people are doing 419, in a working system they better stay out of public eye, cos the day u say u want to contest for anything u will explain how u got all those monies and declare ur asset. So somehow rich people of questionable character don't try to contest for public office. Example is Donald Trump. See how they dissected every penny he earned?
Now I just used rice as one example of why people just buy the most convenient and valuable things not necessarily that they are looking for foreign goods. Like the cocoa u mentioned, have u tried to do any export business in Nigeria? It is d export process and fees that u will pay that will discourage u. What kind of country that wants it's economy to boom will stiffle d few people trying to do things to earn a living? How will people not go into fraud and deciet. See eh...sometimes when I talk about Nigeria, I get very angry in my spirit. NNPC will sell crude and not credit fed govt, Customs will collect fees and remit only 10%, CBN will make money and spend it as they like, FIRS will generate money and give what they like to FG. Then FG will borrow money year in year out to run the budget. National assembly (less than 1500 people) will seat and allocate almost 20% of the budget to themselves. Enjoy office for 4years and recieve severance package in hundreds of millions while civil servants will suffer for 35years and will beg to collect the contributory pension they did. If governance was work well, Nigeria has no business borrowing. Do u know that as little as airport toll gate N200 and airport parking N700 naira amounts to millions daily which is supposed to go into government coffers, but it's FAAN directors and MD that are sharing that one. Do u know how much NPA generates? Omo X100 make we no dissect. When some people say the country is a Zoo...u better think about it. But one candidate has given us hope that when he comes in things will change. He has a history of stopping theft and waste, he is without corruption allegation and he has said it is POssible to put back Nigeria on a winning trajectory. That is the hope of well meaning Nigerians. We can't be complaining and still be doing old things, that will be madness. It is foolishness to do the same things over and over and expect a different result. I for like reply this, but right now? I'm drain. I went to Bovas around 6:30 am. Queue till 1 pm and end up not getting fuel. I have to go get 240 at Ogba and Ikorodu road is something else like this. Tired! |

Pearl1910: All these things u mentioned, if produced at a good quality in Nigeria will still be bought by Nigerians. How many people can afford a 14m naira bag?
U see, d problem is not Nigerians but the system, and the people in government who are supposed to make quality changes to improve the lives of citizens.
Are Nigerians not attending private schools where u have to pay millions as school fees?
Are Nigerians not patronizing local businesses that are giving them value for their money?
The basis is that I will not buy Nigerian rice 50k when I can get the imported counterpart for 40k. Sorry, it's just common sense. Doesn't mean I don't like made in Nigeria. I will not also buy poor quality Nigerian rice for 20k when I can get a good quality foreign rice for 30k.
The common sense is that locally produced goods are supposed to be cheaper than imported goods at same quality. Then allow people to buy based on luxury or affordability.
So the job of the government is to provide quality living standards at an affordable price. Or make sure anyone offering the services are giving it at the best price possible.
But in Nigeria, u have a govt and regulatory bodies increasing tarrif and prices of services as if they are there to make profit. They will collude with industry players or business owners to swindle the consumers. Even when a company comes from outside to sell at a particular price, it's same govt officials that will make them increase the price.
The problem is not with ordinary Nigerians but with people in power, the privileged, the elites and the politicians. So if we have just one man in an important position who wants to make a change things will turn around for good. He may not turn everything overnight but can put Nigeria in a trajectory that will pay off in 20yrs if followed judiciously. By providing the enabling environment for life, and businesses to thrive. Nigeria is a great nation, all we need to prosper and be one of the most powerful countries in the world. When we use the world the system and people in government? It get me skeptical. These people did they just get to power or did we vote them into office? Who is government? Who are the leaders of tomorrow? All the activist that once fought for the people and clinch power, what did they do differently? If care is not taken the next sets of political leaders will be worst. Do you know the number of fraudsters going into politics today? How do you tell someone that made name, money in an ill gotten manner and dabbles into politics that politics money is not that free. On the second tought, is the money not a free one? How much are these folks running for president spend today? Learnt they may spend close to 50b. Please on who's account? Atiku has been running since 1993 and you think if he eventually wins, he won't recover lost funds. Back to people paying millions for school. I think we should learn not to generalise things. No gain saying we are at the brink of madness in this country. Our minimum wage is nothing to write home about. Those paying millions for school, where are they getting it from? We have too many ill gotten and dubious wealth in the society and nobody cares. Check everyone around you living big, 80% of them; you barely know what they do for a living. Can someone getting 400k a month send someone to a school where millions is been paid? To rent mini flat today, you will need a salary of 500k to be able to service that. Do we put that on government too? On not buying local products... rice is not the only food will have, if our government want a good rice, they should know what it takes to produce a good fine rice. We have other food we can key into and they come cheap. We used to export cocoa, what went wrong? We have other mineral resources. An average Nigerian takes pleasure in buga and oppression. That is how we are wired, including me. I don't think I have anything made in Nigeria. From wine, to clothes to watches... nah confirm go to Benin and see the way those people rock their Ankara. Our culture is already eroded. Even ordinary bricklayers, we prefer Togolese and Ghanaian to our people. This get rich and ostentatious lifestyle has eaten us deep! deep!! You can't get an ordinary electrician again, they are all driving on Bolt platform now or into scamming Boss, I think we all share this blame... the government is the people and the people the government. |

Boss, barely any of the leaders will make perfect impact. We all have been the problem from the onset. We are consuming nation and barely export anything. We import matches and even toothpick. See the way UK is ripping us off in the name of education, but we call it Japa. Why the sudden access to UK once you have the money? Brexit! Modern slave trade (no flinch if you see me in such train too, only me no fit save naija). All these phones they are importing, even hair from india, what's the value to our economy? Our ostentatious way of lifestyle will eventually be our doom, no gain saying. Custom duties has been one of the thing saving this country. The more we import, the more they increase tariff and the more our naira remains weak, the more things get harder. Everyone should have farm at the back of their yard... it's a necessity now. |

northbird: Wednesday evening at Allen was very funny ,you need to see those ladies around Allen were still quoting the usual low fares,.... I was just laughing, some of them quoting with two different accounts after no response .. Drivers were not available to pick them or refused...
Pope,But what's going to happen if official per litre hits like #280-300... ? Cos gbese dey ground for the new incoming government.. Seem rider's determines the shift in price in this business. Regardless of the fuel issue, it looks like rider's are not much today. The way drivers are dragging 1300 trip. I really suffered today, tho met my target but with more input. Boss, subsidy have to go, FG can't keep borrowing to subsidise fuel. The only problem here is the presure will be intense, because will actually don't have any refinery that is working up to optimal. Maybe Otunba Dangote, the chief monopolist is about to start his own before June. This one they are doing is just to test the water. Eventually they will keep increasing pump price and the people will be adjusting to the new price without any fuss. After this fist for 2 months, if they increase it to 185 as rumoured, I'm sure we are all going to accept the new price in good faith Almost everything has increase by 100% or more. Name it! Bag or pure water from 150k/250k. Malt of 150k/300k. Olosho 20k is now 50k. We'll survive, they used to be a time biscuit was sold for 1 naira. |
