High unemployment rate is the cause of this mess, people are left with no other choice than to accept this.

I met a friend who confessed to me that he lost his job because he refused to join his company confraternity in Port harcourt. Share your experience. Have you ever been issued a form??

Port Harcourt came to mind immediately I saw the title. The banking sector in that town belongs to ogboni. I know of a prominent oil company controlled by Pirates. To get past a certain point in your career, you must join them.

Evil rules supremely over Nigeria.

In the south south especially Akwa Ibom & Rivers, before u get employment as contract staff in oil servicing companies, u must join Seadogs a.k.a Pirates. I worked with one of those companies on a one yr contract, when time reach to renew, them give me form o. I kuku collect my payoff waka.

I can say with certainty that this practice is no longer predominant.

This was mostly circa.2006. Nowadays, even if you join ten million confraternities, hunger would still kill you.
It was those days that these groups begged for members and enticed them with gifts. About right now, everybody has sold their souls, or is willing to.

The new wave right now is happening in the modern industry; Tech, Literary and Sciences. If you identify as Queer, automatic connection to free job opportunities—not like I’m complaining anyway, seeing how so many queer persons have been sidelined for years because of sexual orientation, that sometimes does not inherently affect work skills.

I also lost a huge opportunity because I refused to Bleep a gay man. The man reside in PH too. The guy get money like say tomorrow no dey. The thing pain me but I'm not angry.

Archaic practices such as this still exists? Na wa o.

I remember when I was at the Nigerian Law School, my uncle will usually tell me not to join Ogboni when I get called to the Nigerian Bar. Several years down the line, no one has asked me to join Ogboni and God has been faithful.

It's common practice in Rivers State since 2015!

Not only when trying to get jobs but contracts, too. Rivers state is dreadful at the moment in this regard. Initially it was just securing government appointments and contracts that demanded joining an occult group, then it trickled down to even private companies. People are getting fired from their jobs for refusing to join cult groups daily. It's hard to secure contract upwards of ₦5m without someone demanding you join one group or another, unless God is with you. It's just terrible how Rivers State has degenerated to this clannish state.
