Hello Nairalanders,

So straight to the point. Please I need your advice about two things.

1. I just got my inheritance and I got cash of 8M and there's this popular belief of people squandering their inheritance,I don't want that to be my portion so which business can I invest it into. For context, I currently have a job and I'm not ready to quit so please put that into consideration.

2. My younger brother is still a student so he has asked me to save his portion of 6M in bank until he graduates but I don't think that's a good idea. I would rather he put it in some form of secure investment that will be yielding something. Kindly give us suggestions.

May the soul of my beloved Father continue to rest in peace. Amen
I know you are asking for advice and i know I might not get the help but I will ask because you might just be in an helping mood. I will appreciate if you can lend/give #20k for my final year project I will be starting tomorrow. If you are going to lend I will pay back in 3 months. God Bless you as you consider.

As for Business advice, get a car and register it with Uber rent it out I heard drivers pay up to 50k weekly since you have your job don't touch the weekly returns. Use it to get another car when it's reach a good amount. Do this till you get 4-5 cars and you will be on your way to wealth

Go to Leadway insurance, they have good packages for long term savings. Open one of the package that best suits you. Put the money there for like 5yrs. Every year, the agreed % will be accumulating. Then within the 5yrs, learn a good business of ur choice, u'll understand it b/4 the time elapse. Then withdraw ur money & start ur own business. U can also be doing storage businessin Agricultural commodities where u buy beans, cashew, seasame seed, red oil e.t.c when they surplus within the year and sell them off when there's scarcity of those community.... If fortune smiles on you, u will even leave ur job to face ur business.
Don't do any business you don't understand cos ur money will vaporize into thin air in such a way that u wouldn't be able to explain how manage.

Save half in dollars. Buy bonds with 25% and use the remaining 25% to buy Bitcoin.

For your brother's share, save it in a Dom account and let him decide how he wants to spend it himself.

I have 2 advice for u

1)Treasuring bill

2)Crypto

Treasuring Bill

If you want to leave your money in naira, I will suggest u go with this option

My mum who is retired, saves her money in treasuring bill

U can fix it for a stipulated time (3months,6months e.t.c)

U put back the profit and continue the process

Confirm from your bank

SECOND

Crypto

If u want to save your money in dollars, then go with this second option.

Most coins are down now, u can opt in on coins with good use case

But for the case of safety and security of funds

I will suggest u go with BTC // ETH // BNB

They have proven to be a good coin due to test of time

Note
If u decide to go with option 2 which is crypto

Remember to DCA (dollar cost average)

Don't go all IN

There could still be more Dip

Hello Nairalanders,

So straight to the point. Please I need your advice about two things...

THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE

1. I dont need your money. I would not be asking you anything.

2. Having gone through the thread, I have not seen adequate advice in line with 2022 socio-economic realities hence my reply.

3. CRYPTO is the future. WHATEVER ANYBODY says about it does not matter. Make your research (Google & YouTube). The market is currently in a dip so open a Binance account and buy as much ETHEREUM and SOLANA as you are comfortable with.

4. Don't buy Bitcoin. You can no longer make exponential profits with it. Buy the aforementioned tokens.

5. You said you're a working class man so you probably have the pedigree to apply for a Canadian Express Entry. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU NEED TO CONSIDER.

6. Do not for once think N14m is a lot of money. Once you commit to acquiring liabilities, you would understand this statement very quickly.

7. Commit to using your Father's legacy to leave one for your children unborn.

Success.

Ps, Et al., I am NOT a Crypto or financial expert so I may not reply all questions in this regard. Google is your friend.

First, if you are not business inclined, DON'T do any business, just stick to your job. But if you are business inclined, travel round, make thorough investigations (if possible, do boy-boy [internship] in the business market), then invest in the business. (I'll advise food or electronic business sha)

Second, avoid investing any amount in naira in any financial institution in Nigeria because naira loses value super fast these days of Buhari. Instead, you may invest your brother's 6m in buying US Dollars, Euros, British Pounds, and Chinese Yuan because these are stable currencies that doesn't lose value sharply like naira does. You can do this ONLY through a Nigerian bank. NEVER visit a bureau de change cuz they may give you fake or expired currencies (Yes, currencies do expire, especially Western currencies). Open the different accounts and keep the currencies in them.
Or you could buy solid minerals like gold, diamonds, etc and keep them WITH your bank. You may ask your bank for advise about this. But NEVER hold any currency investment in Naira, or any other unstable currency.

Third, IF (and only if) you have interest in migration, and age is on your side, you can migrate to any economically growing Western country (North America or Western Europe). With 8m, you should migrate now before naira falls further. You can go further studies or for migration proper.
pls enlight me on that, i like to save in dollar too, pls my mail is dola54155@gmail.com

Op, gold179 gave you the beat advice so far(what I would have told you myself).
You can never go wrong with investing in properties. It doesn't depreciate. Never!

I would have told you 3 businesses that would be profitable yearly but you seem like an ajebo so properties properties properties is all I can say for now. Good luck!

Trading is a very risky investment without a good knowledge.

@op , property investment is the right choice of investment to key in. Look for a higher institution area and buy land to build hostels, students will always occupy your hostels year in year out.

Or you can invest in a mini lounge or bar, people will always patronise.

Saving in dollars isn't hard at all.
Just visit your preferred bank and tell them you would like to open a dollar domiciliary account, and they will give you the requirements. Or you could visit the bank's website for the requirements.
That's all.

Though I'll advise you open more than one domiciliary account so you can keep more than one type currency. E.g You'll open accounts for US Dollars and for Chinese Yuan. Because if there's scarcity of dollars, the CBN might give strict austerity measures that will make you temporarily unable to withdraw your dollars.

Congratulations! You don hammer grin

First of all, check your circle and make sure the people around you, friends, are people who are better than you or are experienced in the path you want to follow.

No reason woman matter

Withdraw N1m

Fill your house with food and Basic stuff.

Convert the balance to usd and deposit into a domiciliary account

Get a laptop and start learning new digital skills and doing research for online of offline businesses.

You can also research offline

Take your time with the research phase even if it takes you 6 months to a year

Have a plan

Write down a business plan(hire a professional)

If your new business requires N5m, for instance, start with 10% ie N500k

Try and fail and build the business

When you are able to start making profit you can add another N1m

Build slow and steady and don't be tempted with overnight success.

You should be good smiley

Buy money market fund or put the money in fixed deposit. Since you're clueless about a business to do, just chill. Why do you want to do a business, why not pay school fees deposit and go to UK.

If you insist on doing business then learn it properly before putting your money. Remember, once you blow this money, it is gone forever.

Work harder so that your children can also inherit your fortune and not debt.

The best advice is property. I can help you get 1 acre of land for 3 million naira. I bought 4 plots of land may last year @ the rate of 400k per plot, to God be the glory, a plot worth 1.2 million naira now. Get a good location. That's all.
My advice. Thanks
