As for wanting to defend your family.... aren't you instead meant to abandon them all for the sake of the Kingdom of God? . Jesus Christ said those who do not hate father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife children etc., for His sake are not worthy of Him.

As far as defending country, how can you claim to be of the Kingdom of God, a kingdom not of this world, and at the same time be for nation in the world at the same time.
