Exactly! From my little observation and study of people's standard of living here, I've discovered that it is those that do menial jobs that gets more money because their billing is non taxable if you're paying them cash.
U mean people working off d records, Well they may escape some bills but they won't access to some very cool things...I get your point it may look that way when we look at those with not-too-good paying jobs...but ofcourse a smart n hardworking person will always make much more even with the tax...as a documented person, U can actually use your access to credit to make so much.

OvertheTop:
At the Bolded:

Please Be realistic:

What Drives men to Excellence and bettering their standard of Living is Non-contentment.
You cant be Contented with your present situation AND have a Drive to Improve your Living condition - Impossible!

Have you every heard of the word - DESIRE? You have No Desire when you are in your Comfort Zone! (contented)
You only have to be Grateful for your Progress...while You keep the Drive for your End GOAL alive.

How can You say Self Development after living School is worthless Pain?
Let me tell You - it is a well Know Fact that - if You Have a Desire to improve your Life, you have to Do more....a lot of Self development outside the walls to School( it is a welcome pain -price you have pay to Achieve your Desire for the Top- a better Life/Pay)

With Great Desire Any thing is Achievable....

But if You Embrace your comfort Zone ( Contented) your income will continue to shrink until technology will eventually make you Jobless

Be Grateful for current Achievement but Never be Contented in your comfort Zone... be Adaptable!
At some point of your life you have to be contend
"Be Grateful for current Achievement but Never be Contented in your comfort Zone... be Adaptable!"
You can't work yourself to the gravel
or Make sacrifice all your life
If I do one or two thing before December 2023
I will be very contend
It has being 17 year of sacrifice to reach this stage, I am very please with myself
Our friend that said he make $165k yearly
Make that in an investment yearly before expense
other six figure salary
that put you over quarter million yearly
Nice if investment can bring $200k after retirement
If you have two countries you can collect Social Security from ( both likely will be $3500-$4000 monthly)
Your 401k investment
You are good to go with good health

If them tell you day he easy na set up , it saddens me to see educated Nigerians gathering their resources to travel out of the country only to do menial jobs they can't do in Nigeria.
Things you should know....
1. Some of thise menial jobs pay well, for instance, hair stylist pays well, mechanic and other hand jobs pays too well.
2. Not all white collar jobs pays well compare to those you call menial jobs. I know how much a painter friend in Canada makes, he makes more than most people going to offices and wearing tie....
3. Do you know how much a truck driver earn in western world? you will ditch ur certificate if you know
4. There's dignity in labor in those countries unlike Nigeria so any work you chose to do, you will be respected..... a CEO dare not disrespect his cleaners else he'll pay dearly and no one bosses anybody around....

No be by office job, so long you can feed your family and be fine

What people don't realize is that there is no such thing as a career, or I will put it this way, the people that have a fulfilling career are very tiny. If the job pays you do let you to live a respectable life, then that is the ideal. The idea that you must be in a suit with a tie in an office is nonsense. Arrant nonsense.

Human civilizations are not built on suits and ties but on hard grinding work. From the peasants building and maintaining railways to long-haul interstate drivers even accross countries, to the sewage workers, the farmers, traffic guys, and so forth. These are the people that powers society, the majority in the background, not the tiny veneer of men in suits that are sprinkled on top. These ordinary men and women are the heros of society but sadly, these are the people we don't want to be like.

In other words, we live in a cappuccino society, where beneath is an untold amount of ordinary men and women keeping the system from crumbling, but with a sprinkle of tiny men on suits on top. Lots of people depressed themselves for nothing because they have filtered their vision not to see the majority that powers society, to see only the tiny ones.

And here comes the most important one, which is contentment. Contentment doesn't mean settling for less, or not aspiring to be more, but it's about being okay with what you have while working to improve it. Probably Nigeria hasn't reached the peak of educated masses, but in all developed countries where most of the populations are educated up to 99% (eg Canada, US, UK), the majority of the workforce are not happy with their jobs, and even Ph.D. holders do taxi jobs.

This is sad to say, but personally, I see how many of my ex-classmates torture themselves just because they think life after school should be nirvana. Some postpone the pain by taking more courses, embarking on more degrees, and so forth, but shifting the goal post doesn't mean the post isn't there, it's still waiting albeit, a bit farther. Perhaps if they could just see that the world is not powered by men in suits, but by men on rags, it shall be well with them.
Wonderfully and carefully written. I wish people especially most Nigerians will see the sense in this.

What do you understand by menial jobs. Whenyou first come to a country you dont expect them to just give you a CEO position. Those "menial jobs" you speak of is what people used to survive and in some cases train themselves for better opportunities. A popular actress once told me, there are no small roles only small actors

A US-based Nigerian man who works as a window cleaner has shared a hustling video of himself while advising his colleagues in Nigeria not to be deceived by what social media presents to them all day about foreign countries.

The video the man shared on social media shows the moment he was in the sky cleaning the windows of a skyscraper with his colleague African brothers.

They are seen hanging on a lever on the building moving up and down horizontally.

If you are rich, the best place to spend your money & have rest of mind without thinking of too much taxation to me is still Nigeria.
Apart from the fact you are a into Medicine, Nursing or I.T which pay well abroad, 90% of the time it's actually frustration, unemployment & lack of opportunities in Nigeria that make people try to travel out of the country.
I have a friend who spent more than 2 million Naira trying to aquire a U.S Visa. Few weeks to the day he was supposed to fly to the U.S, he got a job of 500K per month in Umuahia.
Immediately my guy abandoned all the plans he had of traveling out, plus the 2 million he had already spent & Immediately accepted the job.
Now he's doing well, just bought a Car & is already planning on building a house & settling down.
He no longer even thinks of leaving the country again.
The devil you know, is better than the angel you don't know.
A lot of people still went to the U.S & flopped big time.

For those having doubts, he works in C.B.N Umuahia branch, and mind you his salary of 500k is just for starters.
If his promotion comes as expected, he would be earning more than 5 million Naira in a month before retirement.
Then try to imagine how many million Naira his gratuity would be together with his pensions after retirement.
That is what is called job security & earning money without stress.
For how many years would you keep working as a laborer abroad before you get tired??
Any reasonable person would prefer a good paying job with security & retirement benefits to being a laborer for life.

But if you still prefer to be a laborer abroad who would be cleaning windows for a living for life, then so be it.

And for those talking about security, nowhere on earth is absolutely safe.
Just yesterday an 18-year old gunned down 13 school children at their school in US.
Nigerians who also relocated to Ukraine, where are they now?
Stop saying stuff you dont know. There is so much horseshit i this your write up I dont even know where and how to start tackling it.
To you that window cleaning job is veneath you but peope eat and raise families on it. That man you see uas a life insurance policy and if anything happens to him him /his family will be well compensated. He is treated even better than most of your bankers and he most likely drives a better car than that your friend you are talking of.
Over there there is dignity in labour and any hard workibg person is respected irrespective of his trade. You niggers on the other hand sneer and look dow on hard work yet wonder why your country is the way it is

You talk of lack of security . Tell me how many times children have been killed and the murderers brought to book in that dump. In fact I dare you go outside your home at 2am for a week lets see if you will live to tell the story. Una go dey talk wetin pass una power. Anyone listening to you will think you know what you are saying

Where does the peace come from? From not being able to take a road trip without the reality of multiple checkpoints and fear of bandits/kidnappers? Or from the bumps and rattles your car makes from the bad, dirty roads?

It's not easy anywhere but efforts are fruitful in some parts of this world, while it seems as if no effort is made in some parts of this world.

We believe in work and get paid with money that has value in a country with economic benefits and not the opposite.

So no matter how you try to twist it the difference is clear.

I was almost hitting #500 monthly, but the daily insults at work were worth #5billion.
And here you are still insulting people for just a mere point!
Most Nigerians that are depressed at workplaces are not necessarily depressed becuz of only salary but because of the INSULTS they are hurled at.
Better wake up and desist.

QUALITY of LIFE to me is supreme.
Any other thing is secondary![/quote]When people generalize it shows they are not either exposed or intelligent. Not good to disparage your country cos you don't like it, or it's not working for you. Not all Nigerians are going to queue at embassies...some people are living here and they love their lives. We have more depressed people in America than Nigeria. Our weather, food, business opportunities here is excellent,. America is good to get jobs, pursue a passion, tv, media etc...both countries has pros and cons.

In America you spend dollars, and in Nigeria you spend naira, that 200usd might not be as valuable to you as N121,000 in Nigeria is. You know how much gas is in America?

The only thing cheap in America is junk food, and transportation, good organic food is not cheap, what is cheap is those canned GMO packed foods in departmental shops, mass production foods, that is why most poor people are fat in America, it's junk cheap food, causes obesity, HBP, high cholesterol, etc.

In America just one cubicle, or a room in a shared flat, in New York or city area, you will pay 600usd monthly, that is almost 300k a month, in Nigeria Lagos city that money can pay a year's rent for you, for selfcon in Lagos. Yes, you will live in a fine country etc, but if you don't have that mental capacity or skill, you will just be caught up in the minimum wage till you old. No fun in being a caregiver, not everyone loves wiping people's ass.
