I agree with the bolded, the guy himself lacks morals allowing his own mum to sweep and the lady too spoiled matter by raising legs for her, either way she should have collected the broom and not raise leg for the woman, it's actually wrong where I come from, no matter who the elder is family member or not, whether it is your own home or not.

I also feel the sweeping in her presence was just to elicit a reaction, it's strange for a potential mother inlaw to start sweeping the particular place the female guest of her son is

The mum was wrong to sweep in the presence of a GUEST. It is bad manners and I believe she knows this.

The girl was also wrong to have sat while the woman swept. It is basic courtesy to help out elderly people on such.

The best thing is to help out, after that you can bail.
