Ehen quick one, how do we store yam standing, the rough part down or up? Cheers
The bottom down, you can go extra mile to build a Yam Barn it's cost effective and your yam can be there for years without getting spoilt.

Dear Diary,
We have finally started harvesting our beans in Batches. The rain stopped early and it affected the butter beans,we learnt a lesson:
*Butter beans requires more rain fall than iron beans. We will improve on this lesson next year InshaAllah.

I've been here many times when I was living in Abuja.

I used to visit the park very close to Zuma Rock.

Is your farm around the park?

Great Work.

Keep it up.

Your beans looks luxuriant and nice to behold!

Please,

i) What spacing did you use within rows? - They appear fairly compacted

ii) What selective herbicide did you use? - That did not hurt the beans at this stage of foliage

Thanks

The park has become a shadow of itself, the structures are still here but the place is not functional anymore. The site surrounding the park has been bought over by Dantata/Sawoe they intend building an Estate (Live close to Nature) here.
My farm is adjacent The Zuma Rock from back, another one is situated at the back of one of the twin rock.We also have one close to Asphalt Company;all within the same vicinity.Distance from my house to the farm is 15 minutes walk by foot. Thanks for finding this thread noteworthy,God bless you.

What are the agro commodities that are in high demand in Abuja which needs to be met?

Here is Cross River State, there are abundant Palm Oil and Garri available for Distribution.

Let's see how we can engage the Youths Agriculturally as a means of Agricultural Wealth Creation

Things in high demand over here;that of course are coming from the South.
*Plantain
*Palm Oil
*Garri
*Bitter Kola
*Processed Cashew nut
*Crayfish
*Ghana Coconut
These are the few I can recall now sir,all the afforementioned are daily needs commodity coming to the North from the South, the farther you are from Abuja the more expensive you get them i.e, someone buying crayfish in Sokoto will buy higher than someone buying from Lokoja because of proximity.

You're right ma'am,so many things I didn't mention. Each region has it's own comparative advantage and we're better as ONE indivisible Entity.
Re: My 2022 Farm Diary by Maryam1234(f): 9:31pm On Nov 27, 2022
Dear Diary,
We have harvested all the beans, next step is pounding or beating to seperate the chaff from the good beans.Did I mentioned we've started cooking the beans already? Oh yes! No time to check time.
It was a tiring experience,we contracted some women to help hasten the harvest as herder's have started scavenging for foliage with immediate effect, imagine a Fulani boy waiting with his cattles for you to finish before entering your farm, it's damn serious.
This one even speaks Hausa ( An'gama?Have you finished? As if na their rights to enter the farm cryOmo by force harvesting started, we left the farm very late immediately our neighbors came because those Fulani nor want go.Our neighbor has to employ one of the Fulani boy to help him cut his Sorghum;the man was scared like he had a bitter experience with them before.
The soil covering the Bambara nut is so strong that it's making the digging process difficult,we regretted not digging up during the raining season but no wahala,we will be digging it for fun intermittently as we progress.
To all my readers,
Thanks for the motivation to keep on updating
Much Love kiss
