In as much as I would like to disagree with her, she is actually right up to about 90%.

Women would change when they discover their new found power abroad. The family dynamics move from the patriarchal we are used to in Nigeria to matriarchal. Some men cannot cope with this sudden change.

I know of a newly married couple with a baby who decided the wife should leave first and she wrote the man it was over after getting there. He is yet to get over it.
There's a couple in similar shoes right now. They married newly and travelled to USA together for studies. They both resigned from their paying Jobs. The wife was earning close to 400k after tax in a bank. On getting to America, their plans changed. They didn't report to school instead, they were working with someone else's Sola-Sola meaning the social security. 4 years down the line, their arrangee wedding they're into, in order to get papers isn't working out. The husband attended 2 interviews with his akata arrangee wife for his green card but none was successful and once this happens, na only miracle remain. The wife too tried but didn't work and time dey go. The wife has been behaving funny lately. She's planning to relocate to another state now, to commence her life independently during which she'd be looking for how to get papers. They've got no kids yet.

Nigeria is a much better place. We just need to fix leadership issues. Once we get it right, those in the Diaspora will throng Nigeria. Forget those good looks on WhatsApp and Facebook, nice environment, etc...just ask them for 100usd and they'd either block you or decline to respond to your subsequent requests. It's not so easy as people think. I don live there before during my school days. I always say this so no neef to start the story again.

Whoever wishes to go should go and see things. Make sure you look for opportunities and bring it home sharply as most of us did. There's a proverb in yoruba which says, if you tey too long on top shiit, na different species of flies go dey meet you there. Most of those who schooled and graduated over there have now turned agents to their alma mater, advertising their unis to Nigerians for a stipend called commission...Where's the job?

Any Nigerian man going abroad especially to Western countries with his wife is taking a big risk. That system will change a African woman no matter how well grounded she seems in Nigeria, by the time she starts earning $£€ your eyes go see pepper.

500k would pay an average rent per month in the western world.
500k would pay average annual rent in Lagos
so how is a poor person in Lagos better off ?

And with that 500k monthly rent payment abroad u re sure of getting multiple jobs to cater for your Bill's and life style oo. Over here dat yr 500k yearly rent payment is even where d devil is without a job to commensurate your Bill's . Because government hasn't made an enable atmosphere for the populace to get a job let alone multiple

When I came to the United States in 1997, I used to advise people not to travel out of Nigeria. Today, I can’t sincerely give that advice. If you are well off in Nigeria with a good job or business, stay in Nigeria and travel to the west on vacation for exposure. Nigeria of today is a nightmare. Within the last 2 years, I know at least 4 families that returned to Nigeria some years back only to come back to America because the conditions in Nigeria was just too harsh. I don’t know of anybody that has stayed in America for some years and can make sense of Nigeria of today. The problem is not Nigeria, the problem is Nigerians. Our reasoning, our thoughts, our rationale and sentiments has been badly affected by instability and poverty. The last time I went home, I had to chastise a grown man in his 50s or 60s openly urinating in front of my Dad’s house. When I told him to stop, every Okada drivers and retailers around were laughing at me like I was saying things that is Devine. Everywhere I went, it’s begging, begging and begging! A complete chaos. I watched the utterances of the Nigerian politicians and it bemused me. I was watching TV one night when a Nigerian politician brought his 6 or 7 wives to the Nigerian congress just to show them how powerful of a man he is. This same politician has almost 20 kids! What business does he have besides the legislature to cater for such a huge family?? NIGERIA IS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

How many Nigerians out of the over 200 Million have ever or will ever have 500k lying dormant in their accounts??!

If it were that easy to have half a million, why would people want to Japa?!!
all Nigerians have 500k dormant in their account. You are brainwashed. What is 500k? How much to rent 2 bed for Asaba?

I wonder why a Sane person who has up to a million or more in his/her account would spend everything to travel to another country with a lot of uncertainties. Why not stay back and invest that money and get established.
Don't be deceived by the fake life of those abroad, they are suffering and smiling.

The logic is, if you can make 1 million in this hard economy, you can make 100 million in a developed country. If you do your research, there is no uncertainty, you would crush it.

If you have 100k in a remote village, you can marry and rent house with it or go to the town/city where the 100k wouldn't cover rent.

You've said it all. We're better off here. We pay 100% for everything we have. You must be rich to try that over there. I had a neighbour back in the days who completed his mortgage at a fairly old age...something he had been paying for donkey years. A few years after he finished paying, he was retired. Whereas, you can buy a house here outrightly as a young man and live your dream.

Ur 'analysis'just goes to support hes argument.

U have just confirmed that the cost of living abroad far supersedes that of naija.

Remember they don't spend naira in Yankee o, ehn-ehn.

The only time being abroad pays better is when u are well paying job.

Even if someone tells Nigerians that hell is not a bed of roses, many Nigerians will still surmise that since American celebrities like Michael Jackson are there, ''the rich are only using such claims to prevent the poor from tasting d 'sweetness' of hell".

They entered America as students but refused to report at school. They shose to be working instead. These are the people very close to me. The husband told the wife his intention, he had nothing to do with the Yankee woman. It was a paid arrangement to adjust their status. A lawyer was involved. The wife too was into it. The husband knows the yankee guy too. No strings attached. They both paid for the service. The couple even works in same company. But after failing interview for the adjustment of status twice, the wife said she's relocating to another state to start a life, all of a sudden.

You’ll never see a Chinese pastor or an Indian pastor preach against their citizens traveling to the west. What I have found amusing is the Nigerian pastor or “Prophet” that always capitalizes on their worshippers vulnerabilities. A well to do “prophet” is advising against migration. I agree, don’t go to the west if your intentions are to commit fraud or steal. But if your intentions are to better your life, by all means!

The truth is that taking a Nigerian wife alone abroad is gamble no wise man should undertake.

Women wield so much power over their husbands in the west. Knowing how ungrateful Nigerian women can be to their husbands no matter the level of sacrifice the man makes, it's an unwise decision to spend your resources sending your wife abroad.

It is better for the man to travel himself or if his children are grown, he can send them.
