Hurry! I made the application for my cousin. She got offer to study at University of Gothenburg.

University of Gothenburg was her first and second choice. She is placed on reserve for her first choice but got the offer for her second choice.

Waiting for Axler scholarship as I didn't apply for SI scholarship. If by 5th April she didn't get the scholarship when it will be released she will be paying for her tuition.

Nothing, 2 year prog just gives you extra one year to figure things out as a student.

Hi Lionize,

Are there pathways in Sweden to PR after master’s degree program?

Is it like the UK -6months or 1year to get an employer to file for residence or leave the country?
Re: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by Gokoyer0(m): 2:32pm On May 23, 2023
Hi bro,
Do you think a Nigerian lady can get work that will be able to pay her tuition in cities such as Umeå and Sands all. Both of these cities have populations that are less than 100,000.

Thanks for your time reply.

Honestly, I don't live in Umea, I live in Stockholm. But, if you are determined, and are able to keep pride one corner, it should be possible. My advise is for you to make sure one or two other semester fees are on ground before you come. Then, depending on your ability to cope with work and studies at the same time, anything is possible. I could advise on specific ways to adapt if I know exactly your case.

Sharperly. If you finish your masters, you can stay extra one year to look for job. But if you get a job within the period, or even before you finish school, after about 3 years, then you can apply for PR.
Re: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by Gokoyer0(m): 9:55pm On May 23, 2023
Thanks for your advise. I am getting advice on behalf of a relative. She is 25 years. I think she can get the first semester school fee from family but she will need to take care of herself thereafter.

You can kindly tell me anything that could help bro.
Thanks

Like I said, I do not live in Umea but that's fine. My advice is, don't send her out with only one semester tuition fee, keep the second and third. The reason is so she has some time to study the environment and figure out how to get herself fixed with a job.

Also, not only tuition, you need to also keep her upkeep for the first seven or eights months after she enters Sweden. "Upkeep" here means rent and feeding basically.

Serious? My roommate in the university then who is now in Sweden is advising me against coming to Sweden for my second masters. He says jobs are not easy to come by, and the govt is gradually making PR tougher.

In Stockholm, there are jobs.

Your friend may be right in some sense, but we also see a brighter side to the new policy. minimum income for work permit will become double compared to what it is, but I believe that will overall increase minimum wage in the country. Because, if the low income earners are unable to meet up with your new standard, then what? You send them packing? Then who does the job?

Also, Sweden is trying to attract highly skilled workers. Those with masters from Sweden and PhD students belong to this class.

So, if your friend says there are no jobs, he may be right, and most likely he doesn't live in Stockholm. But in Stockholm, there are jobs, you just need to fit yourself in. Again, you may not get the perfect desired job before you are done with your masters, but you have to make do with the available for the time being.

Another piece of advice, working to pay your fees may require you working about 50 hrs a week, but not many can cope with that and school at the same time, or even if some do, may not be for long. The average is about 35 hrs a week. I

It is likely your friend is from a rich home where hi fees are paid without alarm. H should not discourage you from stepping out, rather he should warn you of he reality. For now, I recommend you search for schools in Stockholm, Malmo, Upsalla (you can work in Stockholm from there) and Gothenburg. :
I have run into some of these rich kids and they make the same comments, even some of them who live in Upsalla. One told me when he just came in that there are no jobs in his location, except for warehouse jobs. I nu kwa! I bet he was looking for a political appointment in Sweden, or a bank branch manager position, when you don't speak Swedish and have no Swedish education yet. Such people will tell people like you that there are no jobs in Sweden.

Thank you so much. He is not a rich kid though. He is a student in upsala university and lives in upsala. I was asking him how easy it is to get passport if one should relocate to Sweden. But he is like it is becoming difficult and they are trying to make sweeping reforms to reduce immigration. He warned me to focus elsewhere. I currently live in Japan and this place is not where you can easily get PR let alone passport.
