She claimed Durban is more like northern Nigeria which I disputed with facts

Now how do you understand the comparisons between northern Nigeria and kwazulunatal when you haven't been to northern Nigeria, at list I have been to both places and I strongly disagree with that assersion

She claimed she made her assertion based on culture

What is culture? Culture can be defined as ideas behavior and customs of a particular society. Clearly it has to do with the norms in every society

She also claimed Durban is developed yet it is still it as culturally conservstive as northern Nigeria

Now is that possible? Can there be development without cultural evolution

The north of Nigeria has a strong Islamic culture which is very resilient. You will hardly spot any outsider tying to impose his/ her culture. One of the main reasons for its slow development

Durban has a very dynamic culture because of its openness to outsiders, which have significantly influence the people's lifestyle
The Indian who have settled in Durban since the 15th century comes to mind
The large number of African Diaspora comes to mind
The large influxes of Asians mostly Pakistan and Chinese comes to mind


So how is it possible to draw comparisons between those two places, to the extent of insulting my educational background for disputing her claims

I usually don't argue with people who tries to look smart by seeking approval of others to drive home their points
You need to read and properly understand culture and how it evolves
You aslo need to travel out of southern Africa to have a complete change of mind and improve your thinking
