Sole proprietorship with a board of directors? Do you even know the difference between a sole proprietorship, and a company? I noticed Nigerians are the most to abuse the word 'CEO'. Owing a business doesn't necessarily make you a CEO.
You have never registered a business with CAC or do you? Now, the company I work with automated the CAC company registration portal and I am a system analyst. I will respond to you as someone who have much insight on it as I did analysis of the portal.

You can register your company either as an individual or through an agent. Agents that can access the portal must either be a lawyer, chartered accountant or a chartered secretary. As an agent registered with CAC, you have the option of registering more than one company and all mapped to you. You can register as an agent either as an individual (N3000/year) or a firm (N10,000 per year). Firms who register as an agent can give licence to three persons working with them. Let's dive into the topic.

When you approach new.cac.gov.ng, you will not start your incorporation process unless you have gotten a your company name reserved (this is to avoid you using same name with a registered company), the output of a new reservation process is the availability code. So when you visit the portal, and upon registration, once you click on company incorporation/registration, the system will request for the availability code and will retrieve the details and allow you to continue the incorporation process.

Now you can register your company as a manager of a sole proprietorship. The requirements is that you have a secretary and shareholders. In most cases, people registering will use their family members as shareholders and enter their details. These shareholders doesn't have to be a big person, it just have to be an individual above 18 years.

I am not saying her use of CEO is right, however, I am only saying that anyone can register a company with CAC. In fact, most people seeking Visa to travel out runs to the portal to create a company, get their CAC incorporation certificate and show it as a sign that they aren't leaving the country forever. It's very simple and it takes just 48 hours.

Just to add, when you register your own company as an individual using the portal, you are automatically taken/assumed to be a director. Then you will list another person as second director, then company secretary. These people can be anyone. You mustn't attain level 16 in public service to be a director of a company.

What's wrong with you? Seems you don't know how to pick your arguments. Who's talking about company registration?

Just to point out something to you. People register businesses, while others register companies. Try to differentiate both before going on on how to register a company in corporate affairs commission.

You have not registered a business before so I don't expect you to know what is obtainable out there.

The emboldened shows there is a void to fill. Don't come to this forum with the Business Studies you learned in the junior secondary school. I don't even understand what you mean that people register business while others register company. Kimbraa, I am talking of the real world and perhaps something higher than your present knowledge. It's not about romance, sex, or abuse where you strive. So take a look at it again, if it is beyond your understanding, then wave it a good day.

Mentioning me again without proper knowledge or understanding of the processes of incorporating a business/company would further expose your level of exposure to real life.

This is so laughable. grin Why do foolish people think they're intelligent? I was more concerned about a sole proprietor calling herself a CEO as mostly misused by Nigerians, while you were here blabbing a lot about company registration.

Olodo! If you've actually registered a company or has access to the portal, you would have been able to specify that CAC registers business based on their existing forms. You don't call a one man business(sole proprietorship) a company, CAC calls those ones Enterprises. A company may be promoted by one or two persons who're called promoters, but it entails more than having a business name, and being a promoter. For any business to be incorporated as a company; it must exist in either of this two forms: a public limited liability company, or a private limited liability company with shareholders ranging from 7-infinity and from 2-50 for private.

What I'm trying to say is, that you own a business unit doesn't make it a company. There's difference between a partnership business, sole proprietorship, and a company. You dig?

I don't dig Kimbraa. If i can tell you, the only difference between a business and a company is that a business is an entity without a legal backing or standing. While a company is business with a legal standing to bid for contracts and conduct other transactions.

I understand that the focus is on why she calls herself a CEO, while you guys make that argument which you are right anyway, you also make some mistake regarding what a company is and the processes of registering it.

Coming back to what you said, in CAC, business processes are in three forms: Pre-incorporation, Incorporation, and Post incorporation.
What most sole proprietorship business owners do is have an agent register a business name for them without knowing it isn't registered.
Business name is a pre incorporation activity, the output is a business name certificate. With a business name (BN), you are not a registered company and you pay tax to your state government as an individual (enterprise). For the sake or legality, an enterprise is a business without an RC number, perhaps a BN.

What is my point:
1. Whether your business is a one room business, you can register your company and include anyone, i mean anyone as your first director, or even secretary as long as you have access to their national means of identification. Basically, anyone, including you Kimbraa, can register a business if you like operate from your bathroom or toilet, as along as you have an address, you can register your business.

It is during the incorporation processes that you choose whether you are an LTD or PLC, etc.

2. People shouldn't brag because they have their business registered. Anyone can do it. Business registration is the simplest thing to do this days. Only cost 30k while Business Name registration costs N5k as subsidized by the VP until December 31st before it goes back to the normal N10k.

Though you need to pay for this knowledge, I dash it to you because I noticed you are still growing. But you need to be fast, they are a lot of competition out there. Don't rush to google, get some theory and paste here.

You are an Enterprise only if you choose to go for Business Name registration. This costs only 5k for now until December 31. Once you choose to register as an Enterprise, you will only have the privilege of using that name to open a current account and aid your business operation. Business Name registration comes out giving you a BN showing you are still an individual. That is when you answer an enterprise. But if you have up to 30k, you can ignore the BN registration and simply incorporate your business ones.

During the post incorporation activities, you change change some of the details though it would cost you little cash.

Lol, you are funny. Maybe this section is romance and everything about it is romance.

Selling or shares is done in the capital market, and you don't just walk into the stock market and buy shares without going through a broker and the rest. There and then you must either be a registered company or go under a law firm.

The basic difference is just the choice of registration they did. I have seen some unregistered business with array of employees. Point is, even if a business is registered, if it has a certain number of employees, you can classify them according to what you are thought in business studies.

My point which you have understood is that anyone can get a business registered. You can register your business and use me as your director or even use highqueen as your director (both of you are trouble makers).

Now you have to pay me for teaching you kimbraa

Do I sound like someone who needs nairaland likes? You don't like one who is low on the food chain.

One of the reasons why I don't take you serious or most ladies in this section. Go through the entire thread, from page 1-8, 97% of the ladies that commented are students or just leaving school, yet they come to nairaland feeling like they are on top of the world. Some of you should just be hiding somewhere learning the basics of life not studying relationship as a university course. Your knowledge of sex, romance and abuse is what has manacled you into the lady you have become. So when it is about insults or rants, you become excited and glow to the amazement of your cheerladies who enjoys it.

But change the topic to something serious, you guys shows that brain isn't evenly distributed or sexually transmitted. That is why on the thread on the age people made their first million naira, non of you was seen there. Because the only 1 million you have earned is one million insults on nairaland.

Says a student who haven't gone into any business, worked before, stepped a foot into CAC or registered a business.

Now, any business can be a company. Once you have RC number, you are a company irrespective of the number of persons you have in your business premises.

Becoming a company is very simple. The point here is that you don't even know the difference between a business and a company. They are the same but one has RC number while the other has a BN or does not have any registration identity.

Secondly, I don't know about stock market but one thing I know which is certain is that not anyone can just go stock market and trade shares. For you to do that, you must be a registered entity or work through a broker. You will also attain some regulatory requirements as may be specified by the SEC.

You are a kid kimbraa, you have not attained any level or worked with the relevant authorities that incorporates a business to have a say in this matter. Someone, a member of a consultant to CAC that automated all the processes is talking to you and you still have the gut to talk nonsense.

Lol. I said it. All you do on nairaland is look for someone to insult. The good thing is that it doesn't put food on your table.

One good feature of a Nigerian student which you possess in large quantity is to think the real world works according to the fantasies and imaginations they have. Very soon, you won't be on nairaland looking for who to insult.

Go prepare for your JAMB, but do well to know the difference between 'Home Economics' and 'Economics' if that was what you meant. Kid!

Being so defensive. Sweety, just stick to your home econs class and allow those with real world knowledge to discuss.

Lol.

Scan through the thread, did you see any responsible lady who isn't a student that posted nonsense? They are busy facing their business, you only see people like you who have nothing to offer come to nairaland to talk trash and troll people.
You're very stupid! Take it from me that you are. Is that account the alternate you've been using to 'Like' your posts? You being pained or just playing a mind game. cheesy

According to you, busy people are offline doing things. What were you doing on here? Shouldn't you have been offline doing real things? Don't you know that calling me a kid is also an insult? Speaking of Hypocrisy!

Back to what you said is the mistake Nigerian students make; I'm 100% certain you haven't gone through school. There's no fùcking difference between what's taught and what they assume to what's the reality. For an example, as a medical student, you're taught a lot about the human body in theory and practical, years later you're hired by a hospital to practice what you've learnt and it's exactly what it's if properly taught. Same thing is applicable to Engineering, Banking and Finance, Accounting, Economics, Nursing, ETC. See... your head is empty as we chat. You're just looking for cheap sympathy.

Go back to google, I'm done with you.
