That's good move.we have been praying for this before. The fact remains the way Lagos was filled up with over population really affecting the economy of the state.if igbo could take that boldness and go back to their states that would go a long way in the history of Lagos. However let me remind you. Lagos is a face of Africa, if a particular ethnic open up that they contribute 75% for economy of this state tell me what other ethnic contributed. The same Lagos where average ibos opted for yellow bus and keke napep drivers. Its laughable to see them making empty chests. Where I live here if you see ibos folks he/she must be house help.

Tinubu's Daughter Takes Over Lagos International Trade Fair Complex Market As …Igbo traders adopt back home strategies

… All traders in Lagos must be under my control – Folashade Tinubu Ojo.

Daughter of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC and Permanent chairman Lagos State Markets Board Mrs Folashade Tinubu Ojo has ordered the closure of the market on the expansive grounds of the Lagos International Trade Fair complex

Tinubu Ojo who succeeded her grandmother Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji as the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, is set to take over the administration of all public and private own markets in the city state of Lagos.

Traders in the trade Fair complex most of whom are Igbos had the authorisation of the Federal Government of Nigeria, to set their stalls there, but with the coming to power of APC at the federal level, Tinubu Ojo has gained the control of all markets operating in federal spaces in Lagos.

Traders in their thousands on Monday 18th March were shocked, as fierce looking policemen cordoned off the market, enquiry revealed it was on the order of Tinubu Ojo, who directed the market union leaders to report to her Ikeja Office for required modalities that will lead to the reopening of the market.

Report made available to this medium reveals that markets unions in the state, who hitherto were not under Tinubu Ojo’s control are preparing to go and conference with her to avoid the fate that befell “trader fair” traders.

Report has it that markets mostly dominated by the Igbos and other none natives in Lagos will undergo relocation especially Ladipo and Computer Village markets immediately to forestall the deployment of the electoral strength of the Igbo traders in future elections in Lagos State.

Tinubu Ojo a card carrying member of APC takeover of markets is a fall out of the general elections. Most Igbo businessmen in Lagos are sympathetic toward the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and her candidates. Despite the carrot and stick approach made by the APC Lagos State chapter to court the Igbos, they stood firm with PDP.

APC thugs were captured on video snatching ballot boxes, burning ballot papers, threatening the Igbo residents, sternly warning them not to dabble into politics in Lagos, or risk economic clamp down, during the presidential and national assembly elections. So massive was this attack that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had to conduct reruns in these areas.

This move however scared the Igbo stock resident in the state, who collectively agreed to abandon their civic rights in subsequent elections in Lagos State, due to xenophobic attacks on them in the two window, between the presidential and gubernatorial elections.

The Senator representing Lagos Central Remi Toritsheju Tinubu, the wife of the National Leader and Folashade Tinubu Ojo’s step mother was captured on video telling a disabled Igbo man who beged for a handout that she and her family no longer trust the Igbos, since they know they do not vote APC.

Now that Tinubu Ojo has bared her fang, how it will play out remains to be seen as the Igbo merchants in Lagos contributes 75 percent of the state gross domestic product.

However the Igbo Mandate Union has vowed to mitigate all steps to neutralise Igbo interests in Lagos and has ordered her members to stop buying lands in Lagos and Ogun State. All manufacturing concerns of the Igbos in Lagos will be moved gradually to the South East states. . All businesses of the Igbos must have branches also in the South East among other back home strategies to be explored.

This is how xenophobic attacks will build gradually in Lagos.

Case in Point
A group of people come to a location, set up their businesses and contribute to the local economy... Everyone is happy.

Business grows, they make profit and decides to expand... Everyone is still happy.

With foresight, they buy land and other real estate... Everyone is falling over themselves to sell.

More of these group come into a neighboring location who heard the story of the former set, they quickly go to welcome the new set and are enthusiastic about selling their lands... They buy, everyone is happy again.

...

...

On and on it goes.. Let us henceforth, call these people "The Investors".

...

Fast-forward years later, some people (henceforth called "The League" ) rise to be in control but sees these group of forward-thinking individuals (The Investors) as potential risks. The League tries to get them to their side, The Investors naturally gravitate because it's good for business; yet not feeling fully in charge, The League wants absolute control.

The League demands absolute loyalty to be sworn, this does not go down well with The Investors but they play along to put The League at ease.

Sensing they are not making any headway, The League decides on a series of measures to frustrate efforts of The Investors, thus make them leave.

Stop the lease/sale of properties to them or if necessary, do so at [what they consider] neck-breaking rates. The Investors do not flinch, instead, more of The Investors are buying.

The League decides to tax The Investors heavily, this draws some reaction which impresses The League. The Investors sends delegates to The League to make supplication but are sent back with the message: "If you can't cope, go back to your village".

The Investors argue that since they have contributed that much to the local economy they deserve to be treated with some dignity. However, they adjust to the new terms and grow their business.

The League, sensing the short win slipping off their fingers, and The Investors not making any attempt to leave, decides to take it a step further: propaganda

They don't respect their hosts!
They want to take the land from the owners!
They claim they now share in the land (No man's land)!
They're constituting nuisance!

blah blah blah!

....

Now we're here, the next step is to forcefully take over the dividends of their business and possibly relocate them to some thick forest hidden from civilization grin, very soon it might degenerate to pockets of coordinated violence and bloodshed.

Let us not start what will make the country burn, if you lot are hoping for military support from the Fulani-controlled Nigerian Army, you might be shocked so use that wisdom you claim to have. Though we're aware that, while the North is prone to terrorism, the west is prone to violence...history tells us this much.

As for us Igbos, our oath to mother earth is to grow, multiply and prosper, no amount of oppression will deny us that.

Udo diri unu, Ndi-Igbo umu Chukwu!
I still stand with Referendum cool

No be write English for nairaland..for likes..

Lagos is supposed to be a western state... Without argument..
But the hatred ..need and tribal slur of the Yoruba against igbo ..has made igbo a huge factor in Lagos State..

Reality is in next four election..igbo will be your governor..or decide who rules you..

Is not bragging..it's pure reality..
Keep hating n beefing..the keep multiplying and buying up your properties and economy..

You call Dem gala seller's..2*2 shops...
No wahala..na so dey take the climb ..anther wave of gala seller's will come .next 10.. you see them own an apartment..

Why west keep selling we keep buying...and investing and reinvesting..

My friend sharrap dia !!!!! Igbo people started this. Many Yorubas, including myself never paid you attention because we are truly cosmopolitan and saw you as no different to any other ethnic group who were welcomed to achieve success in the SW as long as they are engaged in productive endeavour. Instead you took the Yoruba man's kindness and laid back nature for weakness to begin insulting him and working against his interest on his own soil.

You show me many Hausas, Edos, Kanuris, Fulanis, Urhobo et al who call Lagos 'no man's land' or claim emptily they have bought all Lagos land and "made Yorubas slaves in their own Land" and I will agree with your claim. When the whole world says A and you continue to shout B then it may be time to look at yourself and see whether you have a problem.

The problem is that you Igbos are not exposed at all. Granted you hustle and have a fair degree of success but so do others. In different and greater ways in fact. Others just don't brag like you do because they don't feel a need to. Your 'money above everything else' mentality makes you feel your worth is in the material wealth you acquire. The Yoruba will therefore always be classier and worth more than you for this reason and you won't bridge that gulf in class until you develop more human finesse to appreciate what life is really about.

You Igbos are the only ones getting a bloody nose regularly today in Nigeria because you are the ethnic group with a penchant for seeing the n.aked truth and denying it. Continue ridiculing yourselves with behaviour such as that you display here, that has gotten you where you are today, till ethnic groups consisting of a 5,000 folks or less gain higher status and enjoy more respect than you in Nigeria.

Anybody who think that pushing Ibos out of Lagos won't have ramification should remember Zimbabwe Mugabe and the white farmers.
Can Zimbabweans proudly boast today of their deed of forcing the white farmers out of Zimbabwe?

You don't even appreciate how much of a lunatic you sound. Best heavyweight boxer in the entire world today is Yoruba i.e Anthony Joshua. I guess that shows "laziest" genetics. In the UK the Yorubas , as far as Africans go, are on top in any area you want to talk of. Whether politics, business, sports, academics etc. Who would then tag them "laziest" if not hateful and envious Igbos?

Yorubas are on top in terms of music in Africa also. They are at the very top of the tree here and produce the biggest superstars of African music who have made incredible inroads worldwide to make Africa proud. Abeg, who know Phyno or Flavour for London Streets whereas Davido and Wizkid dey trend on Oyinbo lips? Another "lazy" achievement ba? ICT, E-commerce, service-provision, advertising, marketing , property development et al Yorubas are on top too in Nigeria. No doubt the achievement of the "laziest". You guys are mentally unwell.

Even if your parents and grandparent are suffering from Biafra war hangover that makes them eternal enemies of the Yorubas does that mean you guys living in this modern information age should deny what is obvious, incontrovertible and 100% established fact? Hate Yorubas all you want but you only appear insane denying they are talented and one of , if not, the most talented ethnic group in Nigeria today. If Yoruba man is not modest by nature then you would not be on his blog (Nairaland) making noise while Igbos have no equivalent that is even close or as well-accepted by all Nigerians universally. All una sabi na hate blog and sectional/divisive use of the internet.

The Yoruba man is secure because we know we are on top as far as eligibility and broad appeal. Yoruba households are tolerant also making us the most balanced ethnic group non-Yoruba Nigerian women want to marry into and seek a life partner with.

I know few Yoruba girls who date Igbo men and they complain of the intolerance they face from Igbo relatives of their spouse .This is the truth and hate should not make you deny that. Yorubas have the broadest appeal to all ethnic groups , relationship-wise, because we are not extreme over anything. Money, religion, tolerance of other ethnic groups, politics etc. We live and let live. This just makes us more appealing to women who want men they can remain happy with for the longest period of time that is humanly possible.

This will be the best move if Igbos can unite as one and move their businesses down east.
forget the population of Lagos, people will come down to the east and buy. It's high time we start thinking about our future in a country were we are hated so much.

Dude...shut up!

You spew way too much garbage i doubt your senses are intact.

Gosh!

You have a problem accepting the truth. leave your shallow Igbo community and sample the opinion of other Nigerians. Mumu. Your pain is that you don't measure up to Yorubas. other Nigerians know and accept this also. This is very tragic for you hence the reason you come here to chest-beat daily.

IGBO AND YORUBA

This igbo and yoruba matter sef don tire me... No wonder people say even the rich have their own problems. Your tribe falls among the three major tribes in this country, yet, it's still difficult to acknowledge that and live in peace with one another. I can only imagine, if not by the grace of God, the level of inferiority complex and low self esteem that the attitudes of the three major tribes in this country would have built by default into the personality of those from smaller ethnic groups... Some are even very determined to make us remain stagnant just for their ego to prevail- very unfortunate indeed.
I wonder what will be our stance as humans when we come to realize that we're just the experimental works of some superior beings who created and placed us on this godforsaken place we see as home for reasons best known to them. As if they knew diversity in tongues would be a major impediment hindering man from getting close to his maximum potential, and in extension outlive the limit they have set for him, they decided to divide man along different tongues...
All the historical sources which talks about man and his hugger-mugger origin clearly points to the fact that man originated from a single route. If that is the case, have you (tribal and religious bigots), ever wondered how man who was supposed to be of a single origin came to be enormously divided along so many tribes? Whether religious or scientific, whichever theory you accept, rational thought should unveil to you that there is too much behind the scene and circumstances surrounding man's habitation of earth which we all lay claims to as if we bought it from somewhere to spread and live on it, and all these should call for more worries, rather than to see man fighting and detest his fellow man to the extent you guys show here on NL.
Humanity first, before ethnicity.
