I went to spend sometime with my elder sister along with my mum cos she just delivered. No reason to be angry as long as the house is running as it should afterall the upkeep is for her to manage the house.

It's wise for every woman to do so, in case of incasity. The husband is mad that she's being prudent and saving... doesn't he know that there will be lean times and fat times?

You aren't sensible for calling the husband mad. It's obvious the woman isn't working to support the family and the man is probably overworking and committing all for upkeep and others, sometimes men are left with no spare money of their own then all of a sudden you discover upkeep money is being splitted. I won't fault her if she's saving it for rainy days but there are chances it's for her selfish gains. She could end up borrowing the husband the money when the family is in need. I've seen women borrow their husband money from what they milked from him and he must pay back as they always claim they got it from a friend. That's selfishness laced with lies and deceit.

All depends on the motive of the woman. The motive is all that matters.

she is MISAPPROPRIATING the money. She is diverting the money. She is stealing. this is the same way Nigerians in government put aside 10% for themselves. no difference. why will the husband not be angry, when that is money he could have probably used for better things. imagine if the husband was constantly giving one story or another as to why there was never enough housekeeping money while he was SECRETLY doing his own thing.

Oga gave me 2000 naira for stew expecting me to spend everything on a well made ingredientize stew with hefty goat meat! I was able to apply my bargaining skills and spent over one hour walking about the market for good prices and brought home some change. I have been saving that small change for raining days. Now oga is mad because of that Okay, bring it on!!

Nigerian females are selfish. The husband is angry because the wife broke his trust by keeping money meant for housekeeping. Your sister should get a job if she wants to have some change for her self. You don't expect a man to suffer ,or even borrow money just to keep the house running and to make you happy,then budget house expenses,pay rent ,school fees and you probably have your own budget then you go and buy 30cups of rice instead of 40,pocket the remaining ,then after few days you tell him that there is no rice at home . He will feel cheated if he gets to know you pocket some money. You can call it whatever you want but that is dishonesty and no man wants a dishonest woman.
A financially stable man may overlook it but don't blame a struggling man who probably has debts to pay if he lets hell loose.
