Suggested paid PhD...you will find a lot on eures site. You get paid while doing PhD. Average in Sweden for instance is 39k krones/month b4 tax (about €3,627.91). Believe that should be comparative in Ireland too. You can contact Irish (UK/Canada/Sweden etc) Uni lecturers versed in a chosen area in Accounting that you find exciting via their uni profile page to discuss if theyre opportunities for a paid PhD. U can put a call through!

We are trying to look at various options available. I expect you, like myself (if I were to finish my MSc there) to use the first one year after school to work 40hrs/week (to raise money) while looking for a proper job related to your field.

Bros just don't give up. See infinite possibilities. It's going to happen for you. You got to win inside first. Pray too. God will help you bro. If others found a way to stay in Ireland and other parts of Europe and did well down the years, you will too! You will get something better if you don't quit.

Broda, your best is yet to come!

Bjrokenhear003:

Thanks for your contribution, my brother. With PhD you get stamp 4 on completion which is so true. My last certificate in education is my ACCA, my mates are counting money and i should still be in education. Its not done like that. This degree i have acquired, I need to make use of it to get my initial investment, not rushing for another one. Them no born me to read and die lol

Thank you very much.
I’ll print out emails for all the applications I made.
Bjrokenhear003:

I havent seen but once you have the 1G and the renewal, you need to convince the Immigration Officer that you have tried to look for a job in your majors and couldn't find. You need proof which can be in the form of

1. Rejections from Different companies
2. Emails for an application

not limited to the above but just a suggestion

Im just praying to God that i will see something as soon as possible before depression kicks in

Solid guy, I like your willingness and courage to discuss these things.

Please, I also have a commercial background and currently in Naij and working.

I am also considering a post grad in finance and Ireland is one of the countries I am considering with the end goal of settling and working in Investment Banking or Consulting.

Based on your experience, would you say Ireland is a better place to come (vs Australia, Canada and Germany ?)

What are the chances of getting a job in a bulge bracket investment bank and top consulting firms if I graduated with a first class from schools like;

Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin , National University of Ireland.

Please advise.

Sorry for the late reply. UL is a standard school in Ireland and the level of education here is top notch. Nothing is rural about the area because this is a developed and civilised country. There are student jobs here but u will have to hustle for them.
EddyNumerouno:

Hello, I’ve been offered provisional admission to UL in September 2020. How is the town in terms of student jobs? Also, is Limerick a rural town? Don’t mind my questions but help a brother clear all doubts

lool...he just shared his experiences so far and u still dey ask question.

He is in Ireland and not in Germany, Australia or Canada

But from what he has said and from "let's make our nation great again", You must understand that you have to work very hard + Gods mercies as whities consider their people first during job applications/interviews, if it's EU nation, EU next, Americans/ other whites and the guy from Naija last. Same thing in Germany. Same in Australia and Canada.

For critical skill areas with shortages, colour might not be important from Ireland to Germany.

That's what I gathered from here and from close friends living and working abroad for a while now.

But you must remember, it is very possible to achieve anything outside the shores of Nigeria. You must just be ready to put in the work and look last those little discrimations and continue to press on while there.....

GBAM U SAID IT WELL
its God favour and smart work
"let's make our nation great again"

RANKING DEPENDS ON THE COUNTRY YOU DOMICILE, EXAMPLE OF IRISH RANKINGS ON JOB APPLICATIONS CONSIDERATIONS INCLUDE :
1. IRISH RESIDENT
2. EU CITIZENS
3. EASTERN EUROPEAN
4. AMERICANS
5. INDIANS/CHINESE
6. AFRICANS

Despite the fact that some EU countries don't speak fluent English yet they get the job.

Why they find it difficult to hire these graduates from NO 4 -6 is because they have certain conditions they need to meet, else they can't hire you and most of the employment contracts are for 2-3 years, so if your 2 years Stamp 1G expires, they have no other excuse than to sponsor you

The conditions these companies need to meet are very tight and only top investment firms, Accounting Organizations(Pwc, KPMG etc) and blue-chip high tech organizations meet these conditions due to their capital structure and influences, these include but arent limited to the below points :

1. They have to prove to the Immigration officer that no Irish or EU individual can occupy that role
2. They have to keep that position vacant for the next 12 weeks
3. They have to carry out different advertising campaigns such as advert in newspapers, facebook, Instagram, indeed, radio and tv stations etc
4. They will have to pay close to 1000 euros for your critical work visa permit
5. They have to provide Garda vetting which takes about 2-3 weeks to show your criminal record

In order for you to get a job in the top organizations listed above comes the toughest challenge as there are hundreds of people competing with you to get that role. Now you have to score at least 2.1 and above 400 points in your SSCE when converted to Irish standard, Some companies emphasize that you need to score Grade A or B in Maths or English ( An example is a screenshot added to this post)

After meeting the requirements, you need to take an aptitude test which is extremely hard, the point of this is to reduce applicant to the barest minimum. I passed 2 and failed 3 test. Literally you will need to buy practice kit to prepare for them.

TELL ME THE SMALL AND MEDIUM FIRM CAN WAIT FOR 12 WEEKS TO FILL A POSITION when they can get an EU or a stamp4 holder as soon as possible and this hindrance forces many people to do the otherwise

Lastly, no agent or school can tell you all I said, they just want their commission and your fees. If you coming, just know what you want to enter, I'm not saying this to discourage anyone but at least someone should let people know the truth not false advertising campaign and promises from these colleges.

It's a war zone. reminds me of the song by sean Kingston ft lil Wayne(at war)

Abeg my Noble people..... How long do you book hotel accommodation for visa application.

Please I need this question urgently.

Check out Jacobs inn and you can make reservations in their website. You can use card details of an account where you don't normally put money.

It's your decision to make. Book how long you want to if you really wanna stay there and have the money to pay for it.

Bjrokenhear003:

University of Limerick is okay compared to Griffith

First of all the town limerick is quite comfortable and not the hectic of Dublin life, Limerick is affordable in terms of housing compared to Dublin that 2 people will be in a room and paying 560 euros each monthly aside electricity. so how can you concentrate fully on school when bills are at your side.

That's bad of them. NCI is better then....my classes are twice a week. Sometimes three times if you have research methods classes to attend and that's the max. They are very organized there.

UL in terms of education, i guess its not a private school which means they aren't out for profit. In Griffith it is pure profit, i had one friend who wrote a paoer and they claimed she failed, she had to force them to present her script and she calculated the marks, it was 51 but was scored 39.

The profit part also comes to play when a college like Griffith will grant an individual with no IT background to study Computer science, isnt that wickedness, that said individual will struggle to pass. It will now become very difficult to graduate. The sad part of it is on their website they said only 35 to 40 people will be in a classroom. To your surprise, it is above 75, how will they be proper engagement with the lecturer.

The last part is the college doesn't care, some people come to college on Saturdays, during my time i came to college first semester Monday - Friday and some days Saturdays. Is that proper, changing timetables and classrooms. Even the lecturers complain bitterly.

My last 3 paragraph spoke more on the standard of education, is it like that in UL. My friend in DIT have classes twice weekly, isn't that's how a masters program should be run. WE no longer undergraduates

I can go on and on

Please how do they find out

If you're in Ireland and working more than the required time then I advice you stop unless you get cash at hand hand. Moreover, you can work for 40 hours from May to September and December 15 to January 15.

Hello Everyone.

I have been a silent reader on this forum. Most of the posts I see here are for study visas. Actually my wife is a nurse and got an employment with one of the biggest private hospital in Ireland after obtaining her nursing PIN. The hospital got her a critical skills employment permit which enables her to apply for visa with her family immediately, which we did on the 24th of July 2019. My wife's application was for employment while that of me and our four kids were for join family. My wife's visa has been issued and she traveled to Dublin to resume work but the embassy is yet to release ours. They said the application is undergoing some checks and next four days makes it 3 months whereas they said visa application will take about 8 weeks. Our application is being processed at Abuja Embassy.

A very good morning to everyone !

I wanted to share this article about finding "work permit sponsored jobs" in Ireland after graduation ; No one promised it will be easy, so weigh out your options well before delving in. And this is not just Ireland, same applies to the UK, US , Canada , Australia - the only advantage to Canada and US is they currently do not have a cap yet on how many years you can spend on a study permit.

E.g; UK is capped at 7 years exceptions to if you started from Bachelors and intend completing a PhD program.

My point is we keep trying , pray and make good use of any opportunity at hand- But in all, lets carry out comprehensive research about what these countries are offering first but bear in mind that our country let us down and for Foreign countries, Education is their Oil.
