Thank you. Considering this, how much should I fill in the funds available for stay section?
That should be the total breakdown of all your expenses such as tuition and living expenses for one year.

Good day my fellow Nairalanders (specifically the Gurus), I need your advice as to how I can apply for a Postgraduate Course in Canada. I graduated with 2.40 ( lower credit ), I’m actually planning to write IELTS by next month, prior to next month, which universities can I apply to, for that kind of my low CGP? I studied Physics Education ( BSc Ed)!! Are there any universities in Canada offering Educational courses, nevertheless, what other courses can I apply for?

Thank you

Your CGPA qualifies you for Diploma, Advanced Diploma and some graduate certificate program if you can prove you have enough work experience in your field. Also the IELTS will also count in your favor.

P.s: I'll advice you apply for education programs in Colleges and try and check the competitiveness status of the program before hand.

You just have to find the perfect program and provide a good nexus between the program and your work experience in your SOP(Study plan)

Thank you, I will google search that. Around 2017 ending, I applied for Canada visa for an undergraduate study in Uregina, my application was rejected on some purpose of travel history, no ties and zero convincing on my SOP. I’ve taken a break since then, so I’m planning to start over again, else, the Diploma or advanced diploma. Because I believed my application was rejected owing to the fact that I just concluded my undergraduate, why going for an undergraduate program again!! That’s what any reasonable person would think....

Any idea? After submitting paper application, can the submitted international passport be replaced by a new passport. The old one will expire soon. How is this done pls
How many months remaining for the old passport to expire?

@justmellow, thanks. If passport expires while Visa application is being processed, are they likely to ask for a new passport

Oh! If that's the case then CIC will request for the new one. Or better still, you can send an email to them informing them of the new development and it there's need for you to send the new passport they will let you know

Hello everyone!

I have decided on Lambton college for a two year course (Advanced photography). I'm a photographer with enough experience and portfolio. Do I need to apply to more than one school? Because someone told me I'll stand a better chance at the Canadian embassy if I apply to more than one school.

I'm looking at September 2020, is that adequate time to apply and get visa? I will start my school application next week and apply for visa immediately if I get it. So latest February 2020, I'll start the visa processing

P.S: It's a post graduate course and I have a BSc
Applying to more than one school has no effect on your visa as you can only apply for visa with ONE offer letter. Applying to more than one school only increases your chances of securing admission as it is possible to be offered more than one offer and with that you can pick which is best for you(financially and otherwise).
You should check the schools' websites to know those still offering admission for September.
Good luck

Hello everyone. My sister is an American citizen and is my sponsor for my study permit.. Her monthly salary is a about 7k usd but her bank balance as of now is about 2k usd. Will that affect my chances? Note: she has paid 5600 cad out of my tuition.

Justmellow Naijaforeigner
It depends. How much is your tuition fee? What is her plan to pay the balance of it and also raise your living expenses within this period? Since she is your sole sponsor she needs to show that your tuition fee and living expenses are on ground before you apply for visa.

Hello kristien4,

It may or may not, but depending on how you present your storyline or package your application. As heads up:

1. Don't declare your first degree

2. Do well to justify your (any) study gap especially if your age is far gone.

3. It would help your application if your have awards, have done a certificate program or engaged in voluntary services in your prosposed field (if applicable).

4. A good study plan to explain relevant information about your study intentions and goals.

5. Securing an admission in Medicine won't be easy. You should rather focus more on Nursing or other health related courses like Toxicology etc.

N.B: a Masters or PGD/C is best suited...

All the best.
thank you.

Hello Odinkaru,

As an American citizen who is gainfully employed, the VO's assessment of her financial capacity/capability might be or would be very different from that of a sponsor in Nigeria with similar situation. Also, ít may also depends on the VO handling the application.

It will be advisable to play safe and if possible you should give her some time to build up her account before applying. However, you may have paid part of your tuition fees but what about your LE and the other half which the 2k might not fall through. These VOs adopts individual methods based on their discretion to scrutinize the financial situation/capability of both the sponsor and applicant.

But if she can show convincing documents of her payslips and employment letter, investment document, any other additional document that can prove her financial stability etc with a good letter of sponsorship to explain how she intend to offset the sponsorship cost etc. Then you can go ahead to apply otherwise wait for her to build her account.

All the best

Greetings to you
Trust you are doing good
Please what’s the required amount one must have in his bank account For BSc....after paying first semester tuition about 10kCAD
And also can my uncle be my sponsor ??
Thanks

Hello Godiswonderful,

There is no limit to the amount though in my opinion 5m is below limit. It could also depend on some criteria like:

1. The level of establishment of the person
2. The employment situation of the person
3. The economic or earnings of the person
4. The steady cash flow
5. The number of dependent(s)

However, opinion may varies but in my own opinion for self-sponsorship - 6.5m above and for parent sponsorship - 8m above whilst for a third party sponsorship - 10m above. Please note that situations and circumstances is an additional consideration in this process.

Without any restrictions, your uncle can act as your sponsor for as along as he is capable and you can show proof of relationship to him.

All the best.

Hi,

I was just stating my opinion based on experience and knowledge. I had a masters from US and PhD from Canada. Also, I have add opportunities to review graduate admission with professor and peer review of scholarship applications. So, I know a little about how graduate admission works. Especially for thesis programs, the quality of reference is one of the reason for application rejection. In some department, the weight given to academic reference is as high as 30%. I worked for over a decade before applying for masters and I fully understand your points. I had to be proactive on how my letter of recommendation/reference was written after 5 rejections. I learnt more about the mistakes students makes on this topic after starting masters in the US.

Again, I was just trying to correct a misgiving about the weight of letter of recommendation/reference. If my earlier response was harsh, I do apologize. Regards

Hello Neverlosehope,

There is no need for the apology, I absolutely get your point, spot on. However, we both share our opinions based on two different perspectives. I gave mine from the viewpoint of Nigeria's academic system. I honestly appreciate the enlightenment. It would be educative and helpful to prospective applicants if you can give a detailed outline or break on the points that the reference letter should contained. This would enable prospective applicants guide their lecturers/professors on how to go about it.

Some might dispute, but securing admission these days isn't that easy as it may seem due to some minor or other hindsight.

Stay blessed sir.

am planning to apply for my Canada visa probably end of February or beginning of March but my question is a planning to use my uncle acct statement of about inflow Nd outflow of 130million and balance of 10millon but the issue that I and my uncle don’t bear same surname .he has no kids so is it risky to use it ?any solution pls

Hello Greatadams,

All you need to do is try to get or show document(s), family picture or draw a family tree that show or that can prove your relationship to him. An affidavit and birth certificate of him plus that of whom he is related to between your father or mother will suffice. Then both your LOE and his LOS should do justification to the(any) discrepancies.

All the best.

Hi guys,

My application was submitted on the 30th of October and I enrolled my biometrics on the 1st of November. I also did upfront medical on the 28th of October.

Since, then I have not had any updates on my application. Not even for medical. School starts on Monday and I’m worried. Last week, my eligibility review started. I’ve sent several emails and webforms to the Kenya office and I’ve been told that my application is “under active review.”

Now, I’m trying to figure out the best time to contact IRCC with a deferral letter from school. I don’t want to jump the gun incase they get back to me this week. But I also don’t want to be refused on grounds that I can’t meet the resumption date. Does this make sense?!

Can someone please advise? Thank you.

Hello Okikiabdu,

You should consider deferring your admission to the next possible intake and wait for IRCC to request for the new letter. There is no harm also sending it to them prior before request. You should send emails to them at least once/twice in a week informing them about the urgency to meet up with school orientation and registration.

All the best.

Human resource management is deeply connected with sociology, because the main responsibility of the Human Resources Manager lies in finding a personal approach to each employee, creating a friendly social environment in relations between workers and management, encouraging workers to do their best and managing the company. So you can consider a PGD in HRM too. All you need to do is a lot of research on schools that offers this course and check for their admission requirements.

Hello Damidam,

This post is so on point.

You can't be denied for not meeting up the resumption date, so dont panic. They will only ask for an updated admission letter with a future resumption date. So kindly defer your admission and request an admission letter for another intake. Once CIC requests, you just upload it. My advice is that you take your mind off resuming this intake, because you can't get passport request, submit, get stamped, book flight, and prepare for landing and still catch up with classes, except your school allows late resumption of 6-8weeks afterwards. One thing I advice, with IRCC, patience is a virtue you must cultivate.
My little advice. Not compulsory you take it.

You should strictly consider applying to colleges only. Do well to put good efforts in your IELTS, it would be a boost in one way or the other.

You can do your search on Google for schools and if no result, then the house can further assist you.
