If this is all, then Wike owes them compensation.

Governor Wike is indeed mad... He would have fined them or turned the hotels to an isolation centres
Re: Wike: Why I Demolished Two Hotels In Rivers State (Video) by Nobody: 7:29pm On May 10, 2020
He could have just sealed up the place instead of demolishing. Imagine the millions of naira worth of properties destroyed.

Makes no sense undecided

It is more primitive not to adhere to simple instructions infact it is nauseating

Simple instructions Tell me the Nigerian law that empowers Wike to demolish a business building without a court order. How are you sure the demolished hotels actually flouted lockdown instruments? Have they been given a fair hearing?

Obey is better than sacrifice.

Yesterday, I disobeyed their rules. curfew starts 8pm but I was on the road 8:30pm... Policemen stopped my car and they was dragging with my car key.

But Finally, I dashed them 1k and they release my car key sharp sharp.

Because They told me section 40k but if u hv anything drop out for us....

But I thank God no be for Rivers, they catch me.......

Guv Wike. This your Executive Order No. 6 is not sustainable. The threat of force is a society such as ours for a cause like this is counterproductive.

Punitive actions that can be sustained for a longer time, towards all citizens equally irrespective of class and background and that can hurdle the pitfalls of ethno schisms and sentiment should be administeted if not very shortly you will find yourself administering selective justice because there will be some stones too big to swallow.

Look at the endgame before starting. Where is it going to end. For how long can you escalate this. Justice has to be sustainable for it to be effective.

State government law of executive order.
Wike is a lawyer, you know sabi law pass wike it's easy to sit in the comfort of your home and abuse him.
I be ph guy born and raised I don't even like wike these days but I stand with him on this. Most Nigerians are animals that's why whites call us monkeys they need to be beaten like cows before they adhere to simple instructions or behave orderly.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
He needed to pass a serious message.
If the hoteliers know it's just going to be sealed off, they would play hanky-panky. But with this action believe me they will be loyal...

If it was a Sane Country, Wike would have been taken to Court and then have to pay dearly.

Unfortunately, as we all already know that Nigeria is not a Sane Country but a Shithole governed by Dictators. undecided

Gemid94:
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has given reasons why he demolished Prodest Hotel in Alode and Etemeteh Hotel in Onne, both in Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

Wike said the hotels were demolished after it violated an Executive Order on COVID 19, despite warnings from the State government.

The Governor said that the focus on hotels was because one of the coronavirus cases in the state spread the virus from a hotel.

Wike who monitored the demolition of Prodest Hotel, Alode, Eleme said his action was in line with the Rivers State Government Executive Order 6, which banned the operation of hotels across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.

Governor Wike told newsmen at the demolition scene that the law must be obeyed, hence the State Government’s decision to enforce it.

Getting a law degree is different from active law practice, which courtesy of Peter Odili's political magnanimity, he didn't do for a day. If Wike's executive order is enough to, without court order, demolish hotels that did not flout town planning laws or built from proceeds of criminal act then President Buhari reserves the right to wake up one morning and declare state of emergency in Rivers State and ask military to take charge. But, this is democracy and rule of law is supposed to rule supreme.

In line with the execution order of Rivers state huh?

Which execution order has been put in place for looters of state government money in rivers state? Bloody human.

Powerintoxicate:
and the hotel operators had the option of obeying the executive order signed by the governor same way every other law abiding citizen have been obeying

Don't you get it? People aren't saying what the hotels did was right.

What they are complaining is Wikes high handedness.

He could seal up the hotel for a 6months or even a year and fine them heavily. But to demolish it is excessive and it's not even constitutional.

He was even stupid enough to say live that it was demolished because of the Coronavirus. Tomorrow, if they decide to sue, he can't claim they broke town planning or were hideouts for militants. As a lawyer, he should realize that whatever he says will eventually be used against him in a court of law.

As a minister in Jonathan's government, he was notorious for his many acts of impunity against Amaechis government. Now, he is pointing fingers at people who have done nothing compared to his dastardly deeds of yore and punishing them excessively.

Unfortunately your Buhari that flouts court others randomly is passive. Else covid wouldn't have been Wike's problem to handle
Governor said any hotel that operates will be demolished he kept his promise like he always does. You are here crying over spilt milk.
Have you blamed the hoteliers for defaulting?

Why not convert the hotel to Isolation Centre to serve as a deterrent to others. He should come to Lagos. He would probably be demolishing the whole city. Na hin time.

It is primitive, unchristian, unnecessary and indefensible to demolish a going concern that employs people and pays tax in a struggling economy. Wike had the option to seal these hotels and fine the operators' heavily but chose to walk this path of malevolence. Sad.

I don’t understand you? The huge fine you want him to place on the hotel should be use to rebuild the hotel. You’re talking about sealing off the hotel and i ask will those employees you’re talking about continue working when the hotel is sealed? He did not take over the land, he demolished the hotel because he warned he will do so. So they can use the huge fine as you suggested and rebuild the hotel nobody is stopping them.
