KingAzubuike:you must be joking, right? In Ghana, a Professor earns $1300 per month, here in Nigeria it is $850 per month. Do you realize that Professorship is the highest academic rank in a University? If a Professor earns this, then what will Lecturer II earns: actually, it is on the table, you can calculate it, just use $1 = #400! |

Alero3Arubi: Forget about greed for a second. Let me ask you a question: do you honestly believe the best two students in any graduating class would take a job in which the highest salary net monthly they would ever get after years of service is less than N500k? Please sincerely answer that, then I'll explain things to you. 1 Like |

Potch: You are 100,000,000,000% VALID...... It's time to put things straight... The day a medical doctor knew how much a senior lecturer was earning, he laughed so hard he was shedding tears. It was a sorrowful discovery that elicited a grievous laugh.. ..... He never believed it was that terrible. The pay is absolutely horrible. 2 Likes |

Nreebge: I respect your believe, but respect my reality too .. as a boy the day you ask your self what you want out of life, is the day you become a man and define your own path... for some happiness comes from good live and luxury, to others it comes from living a just life, and to others its about fulfilling every dreams they have, either ways God gave us all free will to decide our own path even as a muslim I hold this biblical parabes in high esteem Matthew 25:14–30 the story of 3 servants holds common sense of life . 1 Like |

proffemi:I get your point totally. If the government paid well maybe it will attract the right kind of people. I agree that may be a solution. As for the second point...... well sometimes its a case of who came first chicken or the egg depends on how you look at it. You believe the FG needs to establish systens I think lecturers need to do more. 1 Like |

heykims: You put up too many lies in your submission. 1. The gross pay before IPPIS is the same as after. 2. The only news deduction is NHF which means a professor would earn about #350k under IPPIS. That's not significantly different from the figure (#340k) under IPPIS. 3. Academics have always paid taxes. So, you think a government employee who is being paid by the same government can evade tax? That sounds low. 4. There are no other allowances attached for Nigerian academics. Universities don't pay allowances like they do in CBN, NNPC, DPR, NCAA, FAAN etc. What should have been their only allowance is EAA which government hardly pays. When they pay them, it could be like one year out of 4 or 5 year allowances. NB:Always get your facts straight before arguing online. 5 Likes |

xperiencelove:You remind me of an experience I had during my university days. Three of my classmates and I went to a certain Prof, to 'beg' him to come and take his course, as exam was about 2 weeks away and he was yet to attend class even once. The reply he gave to us left me in shock till date and destroyed my confidence in our educational system. If you must school in this country, be street-smart and try to acquire skills that can put food on your table. 1 Like |

xperiencelove:Boy, there is no way you can be a nightmare to me. None. Unfortunately for you, there are still lecturers who are worth their salt in this system (although there won't be any left soon, if you and your principals continue your onslaught) and we are above your small-minded machinations. IPPIS or no IPPIS means nothing to me. I have bigger, much bigger fish to fry. My only concern is that the FG will eventually kill public tertiary education in Nigeria. To that end, I will speak truth to power, inform the ignorant, and then get on with my life. 2 Likes |

Jaqenhghar: It is not a chicken and egg problem at all. It must start from the government ensuring that top minds are attracted, recruited, and given proper conducive environments to work. They must then put in place mechanisms to ensure productivity and accountability. It is actually as simple as that. The real problem is where the funding would come from, but I don't want to go there. |

Another annoying thing about IPPIS is that so many young boys and girls on the computer determine the salaries of these professors. These professors have been lecturing before 80% of IPPIS workforce were born. |
