No one is asking the right questions.

For one the US doesn't care for the most part about African (or foreign) interest unless they want to seize control or put their man in place.

Why is this so important to Munchin? Mind you Munchin is a man who doesn't care about middle class or poor here in the US..... talk much Africans.

My thoughts exactly

This is very political...

Why borrow from any of the other institutions if there's a largely African outfit sympathetic to our idiosyncrasies.

America and France have lost control under Adeshina and they want him out ASAP. France is losing relevance as French Central bank has seen Francophone countries going to AfDB instead of Paris.
France even hijacked the ECO in connivance with their stooge in Ivory coast Alassane Ouatarra, which Adeshina successful messed up

The next step should be for Adeshina to establish an African currency like the Euro backed by the AU and even get the BRICS involved, he can achieve the dream of Gaddafi without US bombing any country to remove him because he is not a Head of State.

Rubbish. This is simply a witch-hunt and nothing else. A comprehensive investigation was already conducted and Adesina was cleared of all the allegations. The US government is simply trying to impose a stooge just to be able to control the ability of the bank to support African countries. The extract in bold clearly exposes their intention. Hopefully, African countries will unite to prevent the attempt to hijack the bank.

Correct. Adeshina is a clean fine gentleman. We all should rally round him and protect him. This is how it should be.

But we know if it were an Igbo man,we know how you and your people would've condemned him already! We know how you people will call for him to go clear himself!

We know how you people condemned air peace boss,Onyeama, when he had a fathom allegation laid against him!

You in particular,I know how vocal you were against that Igbo official that had issues with his PhD Cotonou University program!!!!

Same thing you would have done if Adeshina was Igbo,God knows.

May God see him thru.

It's a tussle between AFDB and IFC/World Bank. AFDB is taking a lot of deals away from IFC because they are cheaper and more flexible, I believe.

Exactement....

Prolly think they can dump Africa further back into the debt - ridden cesspit, a leverage position given the impending post-Covid recession..

I sympathise with Adesina here.
I suspect the Americans have reviewed all international bodies to identify the bodies who are under the Chinese influence— real or perceived— and are engaging in geopolitical warfare. AfDB, the FAO, WHO, etc, will come under fire. Chinese nationals now head four of the 15 specialized agencies
under the United Nations- FAO, ICAO, ITU and UNIDO and have significant clout in the others. Adesina is a thoroughbred professional but when America's foriegn policy hawks come for you, they come for you. He should know that he isnt operating in the academic space, but the geopolitical space and should have employed a trusted political adviser. It’s just geopolitics; he will be the collateral damage. Nothing personal. Even a US citizen Brett Kavanaugh almost became a collateral damage during Dems vs. Reps Supreme Court fight.

Washington is waking up to countering Beijing's influence in the UN. I think they are late, though.

The only way Adesina can ward them off is by demonising them as racists and the attack as neocolonialism in the media. We know how this is done. Use third parties in the media. Go to downtown DC and pay good media lobbyists. One or two articles are fine. It will earn him scorn from the US government but it will extend his at time the AfDB. Trump wouldn’t want to be labelled as a racist in an election year by a black man, a professional. The Dems will amplify that message. Trump will back off but come for him when he wins re-election. At this point he should actively try to distance himself and the AfDB from Chinese foreign influences. Stay away from photos. Visit DC once in a while.

You can bet an agent in the State Department has been assigned to Adesina’s case. Believe me unless he acts, he is quarter to go. Those guys are ruthless. Adesina should employ a political strategist, and a quickly too. A thinker. I can offer him my services for free as I like him.

Absolute rubbish. When has Trump or his administration been right about any appointee? Is Trump not supporting the madman on Ecuador who is supervising thousands of covid deaths or is it the Phillipine President who threatens his opponents with rape, or maybe Putin who Trump grovels grovels before.

Read the report again. A triple A credit rating for the bank and oversubscribed bond issuance are signs of global respect for the Afdb President.

Trump should face the decline in US AI and 5G tech - something he brought on himself through hostile immigration policies. China holds billions in US Treasury certificates and is the largest real estate investor in the US. Trump must learn to live with the new kid on the block the American century is over.

sis you talk true. Adesina is an asset to Nigeria and must be protected by Our country, but it doesn't take away from the fact that if he happened to come from another ethnic group in the south, this thread would be overrun by Yoruba's loud condemnation and glee(example ,air peace vs USA, innoson vs gtb, Ngozi iwela vs the lagos-ibadan media) .
Those pals just want all goodies to themselves. Good luck to Adesina

To stand up to the US, just give them their funds back. Shikena! In the US, everything is investigated. Sorry it rubs you the wrong way, but one would think Africans would welcome investigations, given how their funds are pillaged by those in power. Please read the below from the report:

"Regarding the TAAT initiative, a funding programme for Africa’s agricultural sector, Adesina discusses at length the payment, which the whistle-blowers consider to be suspicious, of a negotiated contract of over $5m inked with Syngenta, a Swiss seed company.

Although the conditions under which the contract was awarded did in fact violate the terms of the agreement signed by the AfDB and TAAT, the Nigerian bank boss claims that the primary purpose of his intervention was to protect the bank’s reputation, as it had received threats of legal action, and to ensure both the quality of the project and future compliance with contractual rules."

POINTS OF CORRECTION

1. If the U.S is not happy with the outcome of the decision of the board, they should withdraw their funds if they want to. It's not going to be the end of the world.
Too bad Nigeria has superior veto power compared to the USA in AfDb.

2. Everything is not investigated in the US. Same administration that found way to exonerate convicted criminals, Gen. Michael Flyn, Roger Stone etc just because they are Trump's cronies.

The same Trump administration that fires any Inspector General that seek to investigate it?.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/05/15/politics/state-department-inspector-general-fired/index.html

Their hypocrisy on this stinks to high heaven and their agenda won't pass.

Even Libya + Ivory coast has enough vote to overrule US on this.

Cry me a river Mnuchin.
