Don't forget to lower the heat ooooo.

You lower the heat, it cooks better. If you high the heat, it burns without being tendered.

Reducing the heat would save you gas from finishing intime.

Lol. Funny, but does it really work that way?
I am curious. cheesy cheesy

Gravy is a thickened sauce used for serving meat especially turkey and beef steak. And the base is often made from the meat stock and then other seasonings and thickeners are added. They pour it on the meat when it’s ready to eat.

I’ve never had gravy from anywhere before and liked it unless I made it myself. Some people make it too thick like pap. Who wants to eat meat coated in seasoned custard? grin

I love gravy.

I made that mistake too. Thankfully I knew something might go wrong, so I was on guard. Quickly salvaged the situation by sieving the excess water out. What brand of “normal” long grain rice do you use?

I have three brands of rice currently, all in my search for a “beautiful good rice”.

I use par excellence

Ohhh. He got it twisted then. Gravy is gravy, stock is stock. Gravy seems like a curry sauce without the vegetables. grin

It doesn’t look fine na. Why would I even wanna eat meat with stock. The meat came out of the stock, right? embarassed

Yes.

That na oyibo style cheesy

We make pepper sauce for our meat if we don’t want it too dry.

They also use the gravy for biscuits and mashed potatoes. It tastes okay when made well. Not usually my first pick anyway

That part really got me laughing.

But abnormal people do exist for real. grin

One Kenneth I met during my time in Kogi State will cook a pack of spaghetti with two cup of beans and eat it all at once with 5 sachet waters and a bottle of big coke.

But he eats once a day.

And he can no longer see his penis.

Thanks pocohantas.

I will surely bookmark this page and give this a try whenever bizz permits me.

My jollof usually turn out great but it lacks that "party" taste.

Nobody says that caterers have not been cooking without firewood and nobody says that people have not been eating. The issue is the difference between party jollof rice and regular jollof rice. What is the difference between regular jollof rice and party jollof?

I get the burnt taste and smell when I toss my fresh tomatoes, garlic, ginger, onions, pepper of choice and green onions inside oven for not less than an hour. They will dry and burn a little. Blend all together and the smokey flavour is achieved. No need burning my pot. This method gives me the desired result more.

I'm not referring to a "burnt taste". I'm referring to a smoke flavour. Particularly a blue smoke flavour.

I really had to add that. I remember asking my aunt how she gets the number of plates for occasions. She said 1cup is for 1 person. Lord knows I can’t finish 1 cup at once and I know people that can eat two. I wonder how my aunt caters for such “abnormal“ people. cheesy cheesy

I will be waiting for your feedback. wink

For me to get that Smokey flavour, my tomatoes are burnt, garlic and ginger, name them. They will cook and dry then burn. When u remove them from the oven, that Smokey flavour is already achieved 100% more. I don't use tomatoes paste. Assorted red pepper to give that classic red look.

Why I posted this is that there are many ways to the go to the stream. Many ways to get that smokines.
Also, one can use liquid smoke( sold in supermarkets). That's another way grin

At the end of the day, we are all looking for the Smokey favour cheesy.

You are referring to a burnt flavour, I am not referring to a burnt flavour at all. I am referring to wood smoke. You probably don't understand what I'm referring to. It doesn't taste burnt at all. Do you know that the type of wood you use can also change the flavour of the food? Different types of wood produce different flavours.

Okay.

If u are a lady like me, I would have taken you deep into the various types of smoky jollof rice we have in Nigeria. Party jollof rice is just one of them and on the level of smokines, I will take the other two first. All don't have anything to do with firewood.

I agree firewood can give off smoky flavour. But we can get smoky flavour without using firewood.

You can fry your dry rice first before cooking. No be only us dey cook Smokey jollof rice. It's a very popular cuisine.
