exactly...a friend of mine lives there...she is even a pharmacy technician...but can't afford to move to New york

Pharmacy Technicians don't make a lot of money tho.

yeah...she was actually a professor in Italy before moving to the U.S...the papers and settling in made her take the technician spot...sometimes I feel U.K is cheaper compared to the U.S...

Palo Alto California? Good luck with that, unless you are on housing. You may want to consider getting a roommate.

I tire o.. saddest part is, if you check the living conditions of these naysayers, you will find its nothing to write home about.
poverty-stricken nigerians are often quick to count the pockets of those abroad.
i hope those who do such learn real quick and change

.....see this one converting earnings to naira as if he is going to spend the money in nigeria..tell us the cost of a decent meal there let's re calculate ur earning and see if it worth that of an oil worker in nigeria..

My current earning is way above average. My monthly savings is more than an average oil worker.

My kids will not be paying bills at 16 till grad while living with me, so you dont have to calculate expenses for them.

I have access to free food if i want, and my groceries are less than $400 a month.

You can order chinese food as a treat for even $10 + tax. In nigeria, I used to eat at Jevenik GRA for around 5k if I wanted to give myself a treat.

You are comparing my lifestyle from a broke standpoint. I was never broke, and my rent alone in nigeria was over 1m. So when you do your maths and spend 30k per month on feeding, dont expect that i was also living such lowly as well.

My electricity bill in nigeria was around 40k. I had prepaid meter. Here i pay $70 max

My internet in nigeria was ntel unlimited - 17,500 but here i pay $40 for home internet.

DSTV in nigeria was 18k. Here i use iptv which is only a single payment of $26.

I have a roommate and I'm still paying more than $1000. This place is insane, prices of everything are inflated.

the pay there is quite small compared to the States for a professor ...plus the better quality of life ...though she gets higher pay as a prof back in Italy but the technician role here is just a temporary role till she passes some exams and resume her position in the U.S...he case is like a case study for me...I am weighing options too myself

I think when people laugh at this they're laughing at how Nigerians insult their country from their abroad base where they wash plates and work 10 jobs to make ends meet. Nigeria is a zoo, but you're in "obodoibo" working 5 jobs a day to pay for a one room apartment.

Looking at that guy in the kitchen may scare you. But that is how to make money.

When you have a business like a restaurant owner, if one or two of your employees call in sick, that guy job is easier. You become the cook, the cleaner, the waiter even after all the employees go home.

If you have Security Business, you work all hours day and night if one or two employees call in sick.

If you are a physician or a pharmacist with your own clinic or pharmacy, the same thing applies.

The funny thing though, all these people work just as hard in Nigeria.

The more skillful you are or your business is the more difficult it is to find a replacement on short notice.

Accountants work round the clock especially around tax time. Some may hold a second job

Imagine being a physician working crazy hours and working second job in Emergency at night?

This is how these people make money in Nigeria, Europe or US.

They won't tell you, I just did.

No place for lazy peo people.

This a restaurant in the Middle East run by South Asians or a restaurant in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh run by Indians...lots of laban and curry plates all over the place.

Their health codes are either poorly enforced or nonexistent.

Not always. Sometimes decent jobs take time but bills dont wait. So you have to start earning immediately.

I would have tried uber but i was still processing my drivers license.

Uber is the easiest way to be self employed and make a decent income. Even if you no get car.

You can get a 2020 car and pay 120 bi weekly. This is even lower than what people doing hire purchase in nigeria pay to the vehicle owners.

Hire purchase drivers in Nigeria remit $50 a week , same with those on weekly rents in Nigeria , how can u remit 120$ a week in Nigeria on hire purchase ? That's about 60k

tah!!!! 7 digits ni peace of mind ko. Guys in this forum can tell lies a lot. If you make 7 digits more reason you will remain in Nigeria and invest well.

Dont argue brother, dont!
I prefer earning equivalent to 500k outside Nigeria than earning 1M in Nigeria.

When living outside your country, you barely spend.

All the unnecessary spending like fixing cars, generator, drinking beer and a lot of others will not be there.

Before you drink beer bro, it will be planned properly, you dont just wake up and start visiting someone like in Nigeria where one does excess visit and along the line, keep spending money on drinks.

I always make out time to cook different dishes and put them in the fridge, gradually I will be eating them but in Nigeria, I eat outside always and recklessly and along the line, I spend unnecessary...

You can decide to be indoors while living outside the country, but in Nigeria, if you dont visit someone, someone will visit you.

Note that light and wifi is always unlimited unlike Nigeria, you can decide to watch movies or surf the net, which will in turn keep you busy at home.

Effing BOZO... yeah I said it.. you are a clown. cool Hunger has clouded your brains. Luxury in Nigeria is da bomb, but you don't know shit about dat .. do you?

1M a month in Nigeria gets you

A duplex
A decent car
A security guard
A housemaid
A driver
A decent school for the children. plus holidays abroad. You can visit any country with that income .. nobody go reject you visa.

Plus .. side incomes.

500K in USD is barely $900 ... grin You proly work 3 jobs to make rent.

Kai Buhari regime don finish people.

Why do many Nigerians look down on people's hustle? What ever it is you are enjoying now that makes you think you are better of than the other person, you have to realize that it's not of your making o. If life favours you and happens to be easy for you, be grateful because you have limited control over life's events. You could have been the other person.

A $10 meal is not a decent meal bro...that's equivalent to eating in a middle class restaurant in nigeria...

I started lower than this.

It was a macdonalds. I would wash the very large pans we used for baking with a pressure wash. Soak and do a lot of hard stuff.

At night, i would go to walmart, I was a frozen associate. I was working in a freezer. Loading milk, eggs, meat and other items that customers will buy the next day.

With all the stress, I opened biz for my sisters.

I have a better job now, but even so, my kids will still do these kind of jobs to understand value of money. at 16, they will be earning what average oil workers are earning in nigeria, just by working at fast food.

Keep laughing with your 4% battery.

#NoRegrets.
Don't mind the coon, instead of him to fix his life so that he can be better, he's rather making fun of someone that's working legitimately

Abi coronavirus dey chop mac and cheese? grin

America is on the brink, the government is working back to back to send a paltry $2000 for families to feed.

In America you need atleast 150,000 usd per year to live comfortably ... all other na paycheck to paycheck. use credit card A to pay credit card B.
