Phones / Re: How To Recharge Vmobile Account From Abroad?? by PrepaidNG(m): 9:38pm On Feb 20, 2007
Hello All,

I wanted to use this opportunity to notify all Nigerians in the diaspora that you can always send recharge pins to your loved ones in Nigeria with your Visa/Mastercard/Paypal. We had to make sure that the fraudsters are permanently kept out. And that we have now done 100%.

I also wanted to say "shame on Swap Technologies" for shamelessly stealing the code, images, logos, buttons from PrepaidNigeria.com to create their own service. There has to be a law against such actions.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Ronaldinho Shuns Chelsea. Would You? by PrepaidNG(m): 12:06am On Mar 10, 2006

That combination will probably make Barca unbeatable by any team!

Fashion / Re: Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria 2006 by PrepaidNG(m): 12:01am On Mar 10, 2006
Why is my post not showing. I wonder if Seun found a reason to remove it, ?

I think Miss Lagos is the classiest of all the beauties, followed by the Doctor from Ondo.

Don't blame me, I am just biased towards any combination of beauty and brains.

Politics / Who Is The Next Governor Of Lagos State??? by PrepaidNG(m): 12:05pm On Jan 08, 2006
Bola Tinubu is not coming back for re-election,

Given PDP's determination to take Lagos in 2007,
and AD's insistence that they will not give up Lagos,
Who do you think is our next Governor??

Foreign Affairs / Re: The 'Death' Of Ariel Sharon by PrepaidNG(m): 3:37pm On Jan 07, 2006
A hawk he is, quite alright, but he's a hawk who knows he has won the battle.

And I believe therefore, with the prompting of George W. Bush, is ready to
give a little to the vanquished, namely the Palestinians, in the form of some of
the land they seek.

The most likely alternative, if he is no more, is that "super hawk" named
Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu leads the camp that believes Ariel Sharon
is giving too much to the Palestinians (can you believe that, ?)

I only wish Arafat and his backers had accepted the truce brokered by Clinton
and Ehud Barak (former Israeli prime minister) back in '99/2000.
It was the best ever deal they could have gotten from the Israelis.
Politics / Re: Who Should Be the Next President of Nigeria? by PrepaidNG(m): 1:57pm On Jan 07, 2006
For the sake of fairness and equity, I think the presidency should go to
a credible person (preferably a former Governor from the south south
or south east).

The Ibos (South Eastern folks) do not seem to have their acts together,
and do not have the necessary unity to pull it through.

Donald Duke (from south south), on the other hand, while I think is excellent,
and highly innovative at his job, does not have the clout necessary to be
President, yet...

I will therefore go with Dr Peter Odili, Executive Governor of Rivers State. He
seems to me to be the best of all evils!!!

Foreign Affairs / The 'Death' Of Ariel Sharon by PrepaidNG(m): 1:43pm On Jan 07, 2006
Guess we should all pray for Ariel Sharon's recovery, simply because I think he is the best chance the Palestinians have for a deal, and peace, ultimately.
Business / Re: Credit Card fraud by PrepaidNG(m): 6:49pm On Jan 06, 2006
But from a technical perspective, Interswitch's method is superior for the
simple reason that data collection and authentication takes place on a
single machine (Interswitch's) rather than on every merchant's machine.
What that means is you only need to bother to make one machine
hacker-proof...

Every machine in the world is theoretically hackable. What we measure
is how hard it is to hack.... With Visa, Mastercard, every merchant touches
the data before it is sent to Gatewa. That's very bad for the integrity of
the data...

Now Pendelite, we know you are an expert and we want you to promise,
right on this forum that you will play fair. Remember, cheaters never win!!

Computers / Re: Newly Designed Laptop to Cost $100 (14,000 Naira) or Less by PrepaidNG(m): 6:37am On Jan 06, 2006
Anyone heard of the UN's $100 laptop project ?

Also referred to as the "one laptop per child project",
this initiative is the brain-child of MIT media lab brain-box, Prof Nickolas
(or is it John..?) Negroponte. The laptops apparently is ruggedized,
works with minimal power requirement, and can be powered by simply
cranking attached hand lever for 5 to 10 minutes at a time!

Anyways, what is more significant is, I hear, Nigeria has been short-listed
as one of the recipients in the first production batch of about 15 million units.

Phones / Re: UK Residents Can Buy MTN Recharge Cards & Send to Nigeria by PrepaidNG(m): 5:58am On Jan 06, 2006
What is nicer, people, is www,prepaidnigeria.com !!!

Here's a quick comparison: With MTN's program, you
have to first do the following

*locate a corner shop on the streets of london that sells the card. If you
live outside London, or like me, in the US, or Germany or whatever, then no luck.
*scratch card in order to reveal the pin.Ouch..watch the pin
number rub-off !!
*Send pin as email or SMS text to recipient in Nigeria at additional cost.

With PrepaidNigeria.com, you sit in the comfort of your
home or office and use your visa/mastercard/paypal to
purchase the e-pin online. You choose to have the pin delivered
as a gift to your recipient's phone via SMS..... Your recipient's phone instantly
alerts and..... presto!!..here's the pin and your message!! ....ain't it cool....?

Folks, it's really a "no-brainer" which is the better service!!

Career / Re: How Much is a Good Salary in Nigeria? by PrepaidNG(m): 3:30am On Jan 05, 2006
Personally, and considering the high cost of living in the major cities in Nigeria,
I will recommend a minimum N100k per month for fresh graduates.

One will be amazed how little N100k can do for a grad who has no financial
assistance from parents

Business / Re: The STB Mastercard Maestro: Credit and Debit Cards in Nigeria by PrepaidNG(m): 3:10am On Jan 05, 2006
Personally, I think this is just a prestige project for STB.

The greatest impediment to these cards is "acceptability"
or rather, "lack thereof"

Hardly anybody accepts these cards in Nigeria, and most
foreign online merchant will not accept purchases
originating from Nigeria...!....catch22

Phones / Re: Prepaidnigeria - A Better Way To Recharge by PrepaidNG(m): 2:43am On Jan 05, 2006
Yeah, we had to tempoarily take the Visa/Mastercard/Paypal payment offline because
of fraudsters.

It is back online now, with purchases restricted to one pin per transaction.

Purchases via Interswitch is however limited to 10 pins per transaction.
