I will advice you withdraw and reapply cos once you have not done your biometrics then you are entitled to a refund of your application fee. Unless you mean something else by it being an expensive option. Kindly read up on Visa withdrawal.

I have got a perculiar question, just want to know if someone has been in a similar situation..I made a mistake while filling my kid on dependant application skilled work visa (not health care). I checked yes for having ILR /british citizen (dont know how in Gods name I missed that even after several reviews). Hence it didnt ask me for my COS while filling it, even though it did ask me for the type of visa I was on and I paid for the visa length(Skill work visa already issued). I noticed the error while booking biometric appointment. I am thinking of adding a letter of explanation to clarify this error and attaching my COS. Or option 2 will be to withdraw the application and apply again(expensive option). Dont know if anyone has been in similar shoes, done letter of explanation and received visa

The comments are even more depressing!

Slowly, this talk is gaining traction and festering in their minds. I guess they're allowing it to stew, so when they finally make the decision the outrage and backlash wouldn't be so much.

Can someone please respond to this? Its urgent! Our biometrics is this evening and we are thinking of withdrawing the application and requesting for a corrected COS.
Preshyi:
Help! I have just had a look at my hubby's COS and it has (changes of employment category ISC liable). He is my dependant in my tier 4 visa and switching to skilled worker Visa. We have put in our application already and have our biometrics today. How can we go about this? Does it mean our application will be refused? I guess our excitement made us miss out on this detail or we just didn't understand what it was about. Wish I read this earlier cry

As a student (Tier 4) dependent switching to skilled worker visa, your employer need to pay Immigration skill charge (ISC). You should have Tier and Category as : Skilled Worker (Switching immigration category - ISC Liable)

N.B Employers do not pay ISC if a student is switching to skilled worker visa.

Hello guys,
I got a mail yesterday that my Mums passport has been sent back as we paid for express delivery. However, the tracking number on the mail is giving me an error message on the DHL site, so I cant even track the delivery. When I tried to track her application on the Tls website, it show that passport has been picked by applicant. Please is this normal and how long does it take for them to deliver the passport?

Well, I get his point tho. I know a classmate that was offered sponsorship but not under the health and care Visa. From her calculation, she will pay almost 4k per person for visa application and IHS for 3 years. And this is a family of 4. Total calculation for the whole family to switch to tier 2 is about 16k which is ridiculous. So getting a health and care Visa makes switching to tier 2 easier.
AlphaUno:

Absolutely! what I was driving at with my earlier comment

Yes it is, we are patiently waiting for them cos na we know wetin we dey find. But there recruitment team is not helping matters.
TheGuyFromHR:

Oh, your husband's job is in the NHS, is it? All the more reason for you to hang on for the COS, because a health and care visa is way cheaper than the PSW.

It's a well-known thing that NHS recruitment can take some time, unfortunately. When I stated 1 month, I was referring to the usual outsourced background checks we undertake here (private sector), and I've never known those to really delay a new start commencement beyond that time frame.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Preshyi: 3:44pm On Sep 19, 2022
No, I am scared I wont be able to secure a job with my present Visa status until my husband switches to Tier 2.
Promoter2:

She's also scared the husband might not come soon enough.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Preshyi: 3:39pm On Sep 19, 2022
To add to this. We wouldn't need to pay almost 2k per person just for PSW when we can switch directly to Tier 2.
MichaelUde:

The special benefit is that on Tier 2 you are on the 5 year route to ILR, while on PSW you are on the 10 year route.
As she still has 3 months to go on her Tier 4, obviously, they can wait for up to that 3 months for the COS to appear, and if for some reason it delays that long, then she can apply for the PSW. The entitlement to the PSW no go expire until the Tier 4 visa expires.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Preshyi: 3:36pm On Sep 19, 2022
I will try this. Thanks
Solumtoya:

Start applying immediately. If asked about Visa and the company you're applying to isn't willing to sponsor, just state that you're entitled to a 2-year PSW Visa which you should be activating when your current visa expires. Hopefully, your husband's clicks before then. You don't need to mention your husband's visa till it clicks. I know, first-hand, that this works.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Preshyi: 3:36pm On Sep 19, 2022
Thanks, this makes sense. I dont know about the 1 month max cos he has practically been the one chasing the HR in the NHS hospital. They only take actions when he calls or sends an email. Let me not say they are not doing anything but It also happened to someone else 1 know.
TheGuyFromHR:

At the bolded, virtually no HR department will accept that.

However, not every employer who might be willing to sponsor will state that in a job ad, it is very possible that an employer might decide to sponsor post-job offer after assessing the candidate's immigration status. On the other hand, for an employer who is not willing to sponsor, virtually no-one will employ you with 3 months left on your current visa and absent any evidence of a pending application for its renewal or replacement. The decision is really yours to make.

Again, recruitment generally takes a bit of time between the advertising of the vacancy, and the shortlisting and invitation of candidates for interview, so depending on where your husband's background check has progressed (these things usually come back after max 1 month), you could have some applications in and progressing with the expectation that your husband's COS will have come out and you guys will have put in your Tier 2 applications by the time a potential employer is conducting a right to work check.

Hello guys, I need advice please.
I am done with Uni and want to start applying for fulltime jobs in my field. However, my husband has a job offer already but yet to get COS cos of employment checks. I just have 3 months left before my Visa expires and my dilemma now is if my Visa status will be a problem if I pass the interviews. Can I explain that I necessarily dont need visa sponsorship from the Company cos I plan to switch my visa soon? Or should I wait till we successfully switch Visa before I start applying for jobs. Really confused and scared of being turned down cos of my present status.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Preshyi: 10:13am On Sep 17, 2022
It was study Visa. I guess its dependent on length of Visa and how much you paid for the Ihs.

What visa type did u apply for?

I applied for spouse and paid $2700

Usually the case for everyone trying to book appointment. Sleep on that website, refresh it every 10 secs, you will surely see one. If you still can't get any, just hold your 42k and go to any TLS center of your choice, they will attend to you as per walk in

Chai! It's not so cheap o for a studio apartment. They just increased rent less than 6 months ago. Anyway, will intensify plans to move soon. Thanks for responding.
Lexusgs430:

GIVE them their £25 and TAKE the rolling accomodation......... grin

I would even say £25 is a very cheap deal .......... PAYG is normally more expensive.......... wink

I need advice please.
My rent is expiring next month, I planned to move to a new city as I will be finishing from school same month. The house agents sent a reminder that I can either renew a 6 months contract, vacate or enter a monthly rolling contract. I was happy with the monthly rolling contract option cos I have not finalised moving arrangements yet. However they said I will pay an extra £25 per month for that option and that makes no sense to me. Is there a way to contest this please?

Please what duration do they consider for the bank statement for visitor visa? Is it 6 months before the date you submit your application or 6 months before the biometrics date?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Preshyi: 8:59pm On Aug 14, 2022
Would appreciate if you can point me to where I can see a well written cover letter template. Thanks
DrStrangelove:
Just state the inflow in Ur cover letter and reference it as one of the rental payments u receive from Ur property. If u have a receipt u issue to the tenant, better. Just make sure the name on the receipt matches the name on the inflow line (description, if any) on the statement and it should be issued around the same date as the inflow shown on the statement.

Goodluck

Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Preshyi: 8:57pm On Aug 14, 2022
Congratulations. Can I please get a sample of a cover letter to explain inflows and every other thing.
geolan:

Documents submitted,
Letter of introduction
Self introductory letter
Additional information letter (where I detailed everything which includes my work, ties, detailed financial inflow and outflow analysis of significant funds)

The other reason for refusal was that I had unexplainable lump sum in my account, I also made sure my account was clean and any money in there could be explained.

I hope this will be useful to someone else out there.

Thanks to everyone on this group for the good work and I will still be around as I intend to do two years after this.

So feel free to ask questions and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Please I need clarification on the bolded. For instance, If you have a property where you collect rent and have savings from it but the rent inflow reflects at the same period cos rent is paid annually in Nigeria. This is also close to the application time. Eg Rent paid in July and application is in August. What's the best way to explain and prove it in your application?

Anyone can respond please.
DrStrangelove:
Good evening,

Well it depends on how u present Ur financials during Ur application to the VO.

From Ur yearly salary,I can deduce u earn about 100k per month (am assuming this is net and not gross)

This amount can prolly only support a single individual and u can barely save anything on it.

The best is to declare the two accounts but u will need to write cover letter about the second account and how the money was amassed. Explain the biggest amounts and set a pattern. If u have copies of receipts/ cheques to back Ur claims, u shud be good. Overall calculate the amount u want to spend on the trip. Spend like 10 days. 1.2M max (out of the 5M) should be tidy if Ur using an hotel accomodation.

Goodluck
