MAT B1 is what you are issued at the hospital to show when the baby will arrive. I mentioned attaching it because she may likely arrive a week before the birth and they may need proof if omugwo is used as the reason. Thanks for your suggestion
Viruses:

People in the past have said they stated the above with no issues. I believe them because it is not illegal. But I would rather say "coming to visit my family including her new born grandchild" or "coming to visit my family including her grandchild who she has not seen since he/she was born". I assume the visit is after birth even if it's one day after. If the visit is before birth, I won't mention the child because how can she visit someone yet unborn?

I don't know what MAT B1 is.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Preshyi: 8:20am On Apr 05
If someone is expecting a baby and the Mum is coming for omugwo, can you state that as a valid reason? Will you need to attach MAT B1 etc if that reason is used? Thanks

This is what I used for mine:
She is coming to visit my family including her grandchild(ren) whom she has not seen for over x years since they left Nigeria/were born.

A student is presently living with his brother in the UK as he does not have his own apartment yet. His family will soon apply to join him, can they use the school address in their visa application?
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Preshyi: 8:11pm On Nov 18, 2023
Please how can someone living with family show proof our address? A student who lives with his brother is finding it difficult to provide prove address as he does not pay any bills and that is a core requirement while applying for jobs.

Unfortunately dont have a car yet
Divine88:

Why don't you use your own car?
My wife recently passed her test using her own car. All you need is to make sure you are on the car insurance, have L stickers (4), get some inner mirror and the tiny window mirrors to be sticked to side windows. You buy all these on Amazon.
Wife only passed when she used her car for the test. She failed twice using her instructor's car.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Preshyi: 10:45pm On Aug 24, 2023
It's too late to find an alternative if she insists cos my test is next week. She just said it now cos she knows I have no other option.
kwakudtraveller:

She’s quite expensive. Usual fee is the same rate as charging per hour. So she should charge you her normal rate and nothing extra. Just negotiate with the babe since her eyes dey red

Can I please DM for the number? Really need a close test date, earliest date I have seen is Nov.
AKALAMAGBO:
Honestly, I didn’t use the app. My trainer gave me a number to call, obviously there are some people who could help you get the date faster, I think that’s their job. My booking fee was £75 or so because it was a bank holiday test date and they charged £25 for their own admin fee… I paid £105 and I got the test within 2 weeks ( mind you, they only collected the payment after they’ve booked my test). I don’t have the time checking one Testi app every time like my life depend on it, I really hate stress.

The only thing that took my time was getting a stamp pad for fingerprinting. I literally got the certificate in 3days, I was so impressed at how seamless and superfast it was. A police officer I contacted was telling me 45k plus DHL waybill to the UK, God pass them!!!

As someone has said, make a SAR sharp sharp.

See link here: https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/your-right-to-get-copies-of-your-data/preparing-and-submitting-your-subject-access-request/ if you need help, but a simple email na the same thing.

Do it yourself ASAP first - make them no go claim say the footage no dey.

Specify the request to all information concerning you and the incident of [date] to make it faster. Otherwise them fit delay. A SAR suppose get response in 1 calendar month, but it can be delayed if deemed complex, which is quite loose. Tell them you dey ready to come and view the footage, make them no claim say other peoople dey inside the CCTV footage so them no fit give you a copy.

Hello guys, I apologise this is a long post but I need your contributions please.
My brother is registered with indeedflex and he was given a shift at Sainsbury's. When he was about to leave after the shift they were told they all need to be searched cos someone stole from one of the sections. However, they didnt see anything on him. Some days after his shift he did not receive payment and he first contacted the shift leader in Sainsbury's who said he will not be paid cos he was caught stealing. He probed further to understand where the accusation was coming from but they stopped responding. He then contacted indeedflex and they repeated same thing. He told them that it was a blatant lie and needs evidence of that. He sent several messages to talk about how the accusation has traumatized him and affected him financially. After some days they finally paid him and according to indeedflex it was cos he returned the stolen item when confronted. He insisted it was all false and he needs them to investigate and show him CCTV evidence or something. They said they cannot release the evidence cos of GDPR, that they will not push it any further but will keep an eye on his account. He has not gotten shifts in Sainsbury's ever since. We need advice on how we can get to the root of this please, it is a serious and false accusation that has the tendency of tarnishing his image. There were other black agency workers that worked there on that day and this could be a case of mistaken identity. Do we need to talk to a lawyer?

Can I please ask if it is mandatory to use the credit cards on a monthly basis? Abi you can use every other month? Just trying to understand how having multiple cards work
Lexusgs430:

AMEX - £6,600 (would be your max).....

Do you have a very good credit score.......

If yes, try MBNA, Virgin Money or NatWest....... They would offer you over £10,000 credit limit.........

Yes, it may be worth considering switching to a different type of account now that you are no longer a student. Student accounts often come with special features and benefits, such as interest-free overdrafts(1500 for Barclays) , which may not be available with regular current accounts. By switching to a different account, you may be able to find better features and benefits that are more suited to your current financial situation and needs. You can also contact their service center.

Always negotiate babes. They can’t withdraw the offer based on this, they’ll either say yes or no. You can also ask for extras if they are not part of the offer. Eg Stock, Dental, Annual Bonus. Again they’ll either say that it’s not an option and then give you their best offer. Here’s a sample email you can use, you can tweak as you wish. All the best!

Hi XYZ,

I hope you are well.

Thank you for offering me the opportunity to join your team. I am excited about the position and the potential to contribute to the success of the company.

After carefully reviewing the offer, I would like to discuss the following areas:

- Based on my skills and level of experience, I was looking at a salary range of £Xyz to £Xyz

- (Any other request or questions you might have)

I am happy to accept the offer once we get a chance to discuss these areas.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards,
Xyz

Hi Guys,
Please what's the best way to negotiate for a pay above the advertised rate when offered a job? Can this lead to withdrawal of the offer? Please note that pay was not discussed during the interview. Will appreciate suggestions. Thanks.

Quite helpful. Thanks
koonbey:

I doubt that might been the cause though their view that you have the perception of the place as not offering growth opportunities may have led them to conclude you don't see it as a long-term place. In any case, I'd say downplay any negatives and just focus on the positives. And also, don't mention Glassdoor because they probably know (or will know if they check) that negative things were said about them there.

What I did that I'd advise, is do your research everywhere (including Glassdoor) but use LinkedIn as your reference when asked. You can talk about things like you've seen that many staff stay there for a long period, and that their staff seem engaged with the company's page and posts (if they are), which shows they are happy working there etc etc. Nobody posts negatives on LinkedIn so you can safely say you don't know any negative aspects.

Thanks for your kind words.
Amarathripple0:

Oh wow. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Yea, companies do not like negative reviews so I never mention glassdoor. When companies would ask what attracted me to the company or the role. Go to response is this " I saw the position and I thought I would be a good fit because of my xyz skills (basically what they wrote on the JD) then I follow up with, I would also love to work for a company like yours because your company is progressive , innovative and inclusive. And all of these elements combined attracted me to the role”
These companies all think they are inclusive, innovative and progressive so I used the same format for all of them.

Don’t worry, a better opportunity will come your way! You got this!!

I attended a job interview last week and when asked the question "what attracted you to apply for this position with the organisation". To show I carried out research about the org, one of my answers was that I read reviews from present and past employees and one thing that stood out was the positive and supportive work culture bla bla bla. This caught their attention and they went further to start asking about the platform where I read the reviews, I stated glassdoor. They kept probing and asking about other things that was said especially the negatives. I mentioned career progression and they became kinda defensive, explaining why it seems there was no room for growth in certain departments within the org. The lead interviewer was just so fascinated about the discussion and her last words were "Oh, I love glassdoor". I got an unfortunately email few days later, just maybe there was a better candidate. However, I would like to rule out the fact that talking about those reviews led to the rejection. What do you guys think? Want to avoid such mistakes moving forward.

Thanks, not necessarily getting the job aspect. But building a HR career. For instance, there are loads of job designations and areas of specialties. HR administrator, HR officer, recruitment officers etc all with similar job descriptions. Just about getting on the right path.

Sorry I had to quote this message cos it's not related to my request. I sent you a DM but not sure you check your emails. I believe you work in HR and would please want any pointers on starting my HR career in the UK. I Just completed my Msc in HRM with a distinction and in the process of securing a job. Fortunately, I am not after sponsorship jobs and would need any advice on how to go about it.
I will appreciate your response. Thanks.

In Scotland, the 1140 hours is not a special benefit you have to request for, i.e. it's NOT public funds for persons with NRPF. All nursery school age children get it automatically, and I gather you only have to decide on how it is allocated (spread over 50 weeks of the year or 38 weeks). No need to pack lunch for your child, they'll get a meal in school.

The free school meals for Primary 1 to 5 is also NOT public funds for NRPF purposes.

The screenshot above referred to meals for schoolchildren OUTSIDE term time, i.e. when school is closed, and that's a special benefit.
At least you get something for the higher income tax and council tax you pay in Scotland.

You cannot run away from credit, in an economy that relies on credit score........

Then rely on a credit referencing agency, without any credit history......... grin

How do you intend to apply for a mortgage, without credit history....... If a LL cannot trust you with their rent, a mortgage company would not trust you with a home loan ...........

Get an AMEX card . ....... grin

I failed tenancy referencing and 1 of the reason was that I had no credit record on equifax. This is really surprising cos I regularly check my score on experian (955) and credit karma (583) which is rated as good. I have done the voters registration but intentionally avoiding getting a credit card. I have no phone or sim contract but often times my credit score goes up which I was happy about as someone that is just a year here.
Please what factors would have led to the credit check fail? Seems I dont understand this credit history thing. I thought the scores were good enough.

I will advice you withdraw and reapply cos once you have not done your biometrics then you are entitled to a refund of your application fee. Unless you mean something else by it being an expensive option. Kindly read up on Visa withdrawal.

I have got a perculiar question, just want to know if someone has been in a similar situation..I made a mistake while filling my kid on dependant application skilled work visa (not health care). I checked yes for having ILR /british citizen (dont know how in Gods name I missed that even after several reviews). Hence it didnt ask me for my COS while filling it, even though it did ask me for the type of visa I was on and I paid for the visa length(Skill work visa already issued). I noticed the error while booking biometric appointment. I am thinking of adding a letter of explanation to clarify this error and attaching my COS. Or option 2 will be to withdraw the application and apply again(expensive option). Dont know if anyone has been in similar shoes, done letter of explanation and received visa
