The VOs appear to understand that this is a lengthy process and are willing to make the wait worth it, as long as you do not have any previous record that could make you inadmissible.

Lemme buttress ur point... CR1 is a conditional spouse visa for a marriage below 2years cos some people do sham marriage for immigration purpose. So if you are still married after two years, the condition will be removed and if not , ur green card will be cancelled. IR1 is a spouse visa above 2years, no condition in this cos they believe a marriage above 2years before immigration process is genuine and cannot be a sham.

CR1 is conditional spouse visa, IR1 is immediate relative. When u are married to a U.S citizen , you are considered as a conditional spouse within the first 2yrs. Once the marriage is 2yrs old the condition is removed.

The wait was worth it. My interview was brief. Some others lasted for so long. There is a lady who had a thing for pictures, but I didn't go with any picture I took with my mum because the few I had were ruined by poor storage. However God directed me to one guy with a Chinese look. Here is what transpired

VO: good morning and how are you?
Me: good morning. Am fine and U?
VO: am great. Raise ur right hand and take an oath...I did.
VO: are u married?
Me: no
VO: any kids?
Me: yes, three kids.
VO: Are u traditionally married?
Me: No
VO: let me get this right, how do you have three kids with one woman and live together without being married?
Me: I don't live with my girlfriend
VO: explain to me how this scenario is possible
Me: I plan to commence my PhD soon in the US. When my girlfriend had the first child which we didn't plan for, she confronted me with a request to know the future of the relationship. Because I understand the immigration process, I opened up to her and informed her that I have this immigrant petition ongoing and I didn't want to prolong the process by changing marrital status. Having known that this will affect my career plans, she accepted and we moved on.
VO: That is fantastic. You have two siblings in the US?
Me: yes
VO: older or younger?
Me: one is older and works at .......and the other is younger and schools at ....
VO: one of them petitioned for your mum right?
Me: Yes, the older one
VO: Congrats I will just go on and approve your visa. Hands me white papers containing pick up details.

Wow! This is beautiful. It pays to tell the truth. Do u know my mum said, if they should ask me why do I have three kids and living with my boyfriend and did not get married, I should tell them nothing but the truth, we decided to put everything on hold becos of our immigration plans, as I found out it takes a longer time if I should get married and I being an only child it has taken forever to be with my mum, I wouldn't want it to take another life time

Why did your folks have to wait till they became citizens to file for you. They would have filed as LPR's. The sooner they file, the better. You just have to wait.

There is no wait time for spouse of U.S. citizens. Once approved case moves to NVC. It takes approx 1yr, depending on how fast you get ur docs submitted. Once there are no mistakes, cos mistakes causes delay.
