Although I was on F1 but triggered the opt out clause around July Last year which brought my application back to F2B. @ Stancima, which month last year did you get your welcome letter from NVC?? |

Which means the next visa bulletin should move, cos F2B is currently in March. I hope F1 moves. Cos it looks like everyone in F2B ran to F1 becos of fear of the Unknown with what's happening with the immigration reform debate, which is what could be making it slow, while F2B is now moving Faster. |

justwise: Embassies hardly allow you to make changes to already submitted application, even airlines will charge you heavily to correct a single letter after paying for a ticket.
This is why it’s very important to go through your form before submitting it. I concur. |

honharr: The change is like"instead of amarachi as in birth cert you now have amara in passport.and it's a middle name. That's the wahala I don't think that should be a problem. Like koolkesh said u can get a sworn affidavit from court explaining. The full name was shortened. It still means samething. Am sure they will understand. But still make sure to ask the V.O |

salsera: I'm 2012 my dear..so I'm still here. Sigh I'm wondering if this was worth it.
Wo. I'm just all for reform jare. A system that makes people wait 6,10 20 years for legal migration is just messed up. Then it'forces' to stay unmarried etc just to make it. Other countries are done in less than 2years
When I read VJ with details of ppl on wait times I'm not surprised ppl come in illegally. Honestly I get that migration is a privilege and not a right but I think these wait times are inhumane both for the consulate staff as workload and for those applying. I feel u dear. We hope for the best. |
Travel › Re: At The NVC Processing Stage Of The U. S Family Based Preference Category. by pretty16(op): 6:01pm On Feb 01, 2018 |
salsera: The only way to clear that backlog ( which increases by the day especially more so now because ppl are afraid),is to 1. Make more visas available ( which is only available through scrapping DV lottery) 2. Put money for more consulate staff which they don't want to do . Besides they are negotiating for money for border security.
The deal for DACA would mean visas leading to citizenship for abt 2million people already so I don't see that helping with current backlog. Addressing backlog without adding more staff hands means they need to cut off existing petitions..i mean some ppl are on a 20yr wait. That's my opinion anyways. If they don't do that.then regardless of this bill the current pace of the bulletin will continue as is or get worse. 4million people and counting waiting for possible only less that 100,000 visas per year..its still going to be slow. Anyways for those with just a year or so you'll at least be at the end of the curve Salsera when is your priority date? Have u received your welcome letter? |

Oladeep: Yeah LPR couples and minor children are included...are u telling me LPR will have to wait for 5 years before they can petition? I think that's their plan. Funny thing is some years ago, LPR married couples had to wait 5yrs before their spouses joined them. Think it was Obama's time it changed. |

Chuksmonika: but in F2B,the beneficiary will have to wait for his/her parent to be US citizens first b4 they can petition for the person,as to what was formally the case, where they can petition as LPR,US immigration law no be here oo I think if the Bill passes, anything that has to do with adult children and siblings will be scrapped. They will concentrate on U.S.C couples and minor children. Right now am not even sure if they are including LPR couples and minor children. But they said they will clear the backlog. That over 4million have been waiting to migrate legally. |

Oladeep: F4 will be affected and F2B will not, except age of minor children will fall under 18years. Besides, a termination date will be set for d new bill to start taking effect and I think approved cases would be processed to the end before the termination date. @ oladeep F2A may not be affected, but F2B will |

Oladeep: Nothing will happen. The new immigration reform exempt spouse and minor children of both LPR and US citizen. So I'm covered and besides, In case the reform finally went through, guess there would be lesser wait time since enough visa go dey to go round d exempted family based. Oh OK. Thought they limited it to U.S citizens not LPR. Its all good my brother. All will be well. |

Oladeep: I know getting married won't affect my status, it's just d expenses involved that I'm worried about. Marriage, flight , AOS and some other expenses. It's better I go first, settle down and later bring over my family. Since wait time for F2A is barely two years, i would have gotten a good job, nice apartment before the 2years elapses and Besides, I don't wanna inconvenient my Sis with my family ish since I will be leaving with her for a while. se u get?... Yea. OK. I feel you. But with what's going on with the immigration ish, we really don't know what the future holds, but we hope for the best. |

@ Oladeep wish I would see a quote from the 1st nairaland V.O that was on the immigrant Visa thread before she was transferred out of Nigeria. I would have posted to you. I will check to see if I will see it. Someone on F4 told her that he put a hold on getting married to his girlfriend cos he doesn't want it to affect his status. She told the person getting married will not affect his status. So he can go ahead and marry his girlfriend and have kids. And he can contact NVC and inform them. That it will not change his status in anyway |

Oladeep: How many kids does he have? Thinking of impregnating my babe, engage her and later come back to marry her, file for her and my kid and later travel together. I'm afraid we might not end up together if I leave without engaging or been committed to her and I no wan lose that babe as she has been with me when I have nothing and still with me till now. She deserves d best and my Sis dey always tell me say wife no dey abroad o! lol. We can't go together for now considering all d expenses involved...It is well sha. He has 2kids. Asked him why he didn't include them as his derivatives like me. He said the expenses. His mom Filed for him and 2 other brothers. Adding the kids would be too much for her. But Oladeep, you getting married to your babe will not affect your status at all. She would follow you as your derivative. Because the wait time for siblings is usually the longest, that's why getting married does not affect their status. Unlike we in F1, if you get married your status changes to F3 and that means longer wait. |
