Felixamos:WTF are you saying? America invaded Libya that was no threat to it, America invaded Iraq that was no threat to it, America occupied Afghanistan for 20 whole years, I can go on & on & here you are talking rubbish about Russia that is only just fighting for its survival & fighting off an actual threat to its country. If you guys don't understand world politics, find something else you understand very well & stick to it.
|
Felixamos:OK, let's assume you're making a point. How many wars have been started by Russia since the existence of the world? How many countries have Russia invaded or colonized? On the other hand, tell me how many countries US, EU & NATO have started wars in, how many countries they've invaded and/or how many countries they have colonized? Give me statistics & let's talk fairly about who truly loves war. |
EdiskyHarry:Don't mind the daft punk! |
AmazonTopaz:Some of you are really this silly? Western countries first started it by banning several Russian organizations & media outlets & now that Russia is paying them back in the same coin, programmed robots like you are trying to play emotional games. Be reasonable! |
nairalee:Some of you are daft beyond redemption. Are you not Aware that western countries first started blocking Russian media outlets & Russia is only now just paying them back in the same coin? Even if you weren't aware before, it's still written up there in the article. Stop being a robot! |
ivandragon:You have points. Here's the thing, Militarily, Russia will match the US pound for pound, science-wise, Russia would also match the US pound for pound, we can go on & on & mention a few things that Russia would match the US on. However, when it comes to cultural war, US trumps Russia by a wide margin. American culture is global & nobody really knows Russian culture. It's the dominance of American culture that the US uses to more easily persuade and/or influence people & other countries. It's like Davido & Wizkid... They are both great musicians but David is more social & extroverted while Wizkid is more introverted. Davido certainly has more following on social media(people want to see him more) than Wizkid does cos he(Davido) is more extroverted & not necessarily because he(Davido) is better than Wizkid. Using that same analogy, US(the extrovert) has its culture spread all around the world & other countries see it more than Russia (the introvert) so they just want to have a bite of it(kind of like a superstar & how women troop after them). In short, US's cultural dominance is what they use to persuade/influence other countries but since Russia doesn't have that level of cultural dominance, it lags behind the US in the aspect of influencing other countries. Secondly, coercing or persuading (whichever one of them) countries far away from Russia to join NATO is not necessary to US/NATO if other countries closer to Russia are willing to be part of NATO. The closer you are to be able to strike your enemy, the better therefore I don't think US/NATO consider Austria as important/as valuable as Ukraine in this showdown. |
ivandragon:I love your point of view & I feel it's objective especially as you've acknowledged what both sides could have done better. The thing is this though, Russia didn't just get to this decision overnight. It's taken many years of Russia appealing, pleading & even having a gentleman's agreement with the US/NATO for them (US/NATO) to stop expanding towards them(Russia) as at some point their expansion towards Russia would definitely be taken by Russia as a threat to Russia which is logical considering that US/NATO & Russia are sworn-enemies. NATO says they(NATO) are a defensive alliance & that Russia has nothing to worry about. US/NATO have consistently flouted that understanding/agreement & now are exactly at Russia's borders & Russia now has to fight to protect itself....almost any country in Russia's shoes would do the same thing Russia is doing today(except if the country is not as powerful as the expanding opposition country). Russia & Ukraine share cultural & Historical ties & also are both soviet countries. Besides US/NATO(which are sworn-enemies of Russia & vice versa) flouting several agreements & expanding towards Russia, Russia certainly feels betrayed that Ukraine refused to stay Neutral & chose to side with its enemy & furthermore bring its enemy to its border. If you watch Putin's Speech, you would be able to tell that he felt emotional about having to get to this point of fighting Ukraine(he kept sighing in between the speech) , but at this point his hands have been forced cos it's either Russia fights for the soul of its country or Russia gets crushed. In that same speech, he appealed to all Ukrainians that Russia's not fighting them but their government. He mentioned that the fight is a fight between US/NATO & Russia & they(US/NATO) used the Ukrainian government as a pawn for a proxy war against Russia & that the fact is that sooner or later US/NATO & Russia may have to face each other even of it takes 1000 years(seeing clearly that if NATO takes Ukraine, at some point in history, these two opposing powers of US/NATO & Russia would be face to face in a showdown & so it's better that Russia starts to protect its homeland now. Anyways, I would post you the video of his speech so you understand it on your own terms. Lastly, I'd attach a map of the countries around one axis of Russia. (NATO countries in blue, Russia in Red, Unaligned countries in Yellow. See for yourself how NATO has almost completely encircled Russia on one wide of its borders & let me know what you'd do differently if you were Russia's president. Kelvin3476:I see your ego is getting in the way. There's no shame in accepting & curing your ignorance tho. Best wishes bro. ✌️ |
Mandesz:When you finish your Hollywood movie, let's Gist. |
Pure western lies! |
Kelvin3476:Have you Googled it yet or your ignorant ego is still getting in the way? |
Kelvin3476:Use your internet & stop being a confident ignoramus. A search as simple as "who owns Puerto Rico?" will cure your ignorance yet you're afraid of searching for the truth. |
Kelvin3476:Former? The internet is free, use it! |
Kelvin3476:US colonized the Philippines, US still colonizes Puerto Rico till this date, US colonizes Guam till this day, US still colonizes Samoan islands. US still colonizes the virgin islands. |
pargelenis:When the US & West refused to sell military weapons & hardware to Goodluck Jonathan's regime to fight boko haram cos of Nigeria's refusal to legalize homosexual relations, who sold Nigeria weapons; guns, tanks, helicopters etc? Russia! So, you see? Nigeria should have stayed neutral cos we can benefit from both sides but we have dumb people who lead us & have absolutely no sense or vision. |
EKONGKING:What is USA's concern with China owning Taiwan tho? Just like China owns Taiwan, USA owns Puerto Rico, Just like China owns Hong Kong, USA owns Guam (a country in far-away Asia) & USA owns several other territories including Samoa. The hypocrisy is usually so stinking & annoying. |
franchasng:Oh, it's not human beings that live in Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Palestine, Cuba etc abi? Some of you are already programmed robots & you all do not realize that. Peace to you. |
Ayemileto:Russia hit Georgia for the same reason it is hitting Ukraine now "NATO has no business in our neighborhood. Traitors would be treated like traitors". Crimea is inhabited by Russians. Before Crimea was annexed, why did the west orchestrate a coup to topple the Ukrainian president in 2014? The west can't possibly think they're the only ones who have power. Why aren't you talking about that but talking about Russia's reaction of the annexation of Crimea? You're here talking about Russia's 'aggressive nature', please tell me how many countries in the world Russia has invaded when it wasn't a reaction & I will tell you at least 30 countries that the US & the west have invaded for absolutely no reason but lies & greed. Russia has disputed territories with Japan & China, please tell me about them. Thanks. |
babz11:You're wise bro & I applaud your objectivity & call for peace. I wish the world was as simple though, however it isn't that simple. Ukraine truly does not have to join NATO & also Russia doesn't want to colonize Ukraine. The problem however is that both US(NATO) & Russia are sworn-enemies & the US (through NATO) wants to encircle Russia in order to be able to crush Russia eventually (even if it takes 1000 years) & that's why they want Ukraine to join NATO so that they (US/NATO) would be by Russia's borders. Already, they (US/NATO have about 3 countries by Russia's border but those countries are very small. Ukraine on the other hand is a very big country & borders Russia along several kilometers. Russia too, being a country with powerful military might had an agreement/understanding with NATO years back for NATO to not expand towards them (Russia). NATO broke that agreement severally & is still trying to break it by bringing Ukraine on board. No reasonable/proactive president would sit idle & watch his/her country's enemies build up military might by his/her border & not stop them when he/she had the might & capabilities. That's the issue. NATO has broken several agreements/understanding with Russia & so Russia is not willing to trust them. Also put in mind that NATO was initially created for the primary purpose of countering the now defunct soviet - union which Russia led. The soviet union has long collapsed but NATO is still very much active & worse is that it is trampling on Russia 's backyard. I don't know about you, but if it was me, I would act the same way Russia is acting now. Lastly, the cold War between Russia & USA happened for reasons similar to this back in the day. Russia wanted to station missile systems in Cuba but the USA refused that it was too close to them(US). Note that Cuba does not share any land borders with USA, yet US/NATO want to station by Russia's borders &yet they are pretending like Russia is over-reacting. Attached is an image of a map of Russia(in red) showing NATO countries around Russia(in blue). Be objective, please, would you feel comfortable with your enemies leaving their various countries far away to come this close to you?

TOPCRUISE:Go capture am na. |
NigeriaNawa:That's cos Putin & Erdogan are friends. I remember this incident very clearly. At the time, the media kept trying to stoke the fires of trouble trying to instigate Russia to attack Turkey over shooting that aircraft. Instead, Turkish president apologized to Russia, Russia apologized for the unplanned violation & everything was fine again, no big deal. That incident once again showed how level-headed Putin is. Everyone who is familiar with Putin's persona knows he's calm, doesn't talk much, doesn't show a lot of emotions on his face, is level-headed, calculated & strict. Because, he's calm doesn't mean he's dumb, dull or weak. Now, the west has pushed the dull Ukrainian president to start fire that they have now abandoned him to quench on his own. |
Viridis:First, Crimea is mostly populated by native Russians. Secondly, Russia only annexed Crimea after the west overthrew the president of Ukraine in 2014. Russia's act was still a reaction not that it just went & did it out of the blues. In 2014, the west orchestrated a coup that took out the guy who was president at the time because he was a traditional pro-Russian president just like most of Ukraine's presidents have been. The west needed their own puppet & they got it in the person who became president after the coup happened & subsequently also in the current president(Zelensky). Lastly, if you're so concerned about certain countries being hostile, why are you siding with the US? US has been more hostile to more countries than anyone else I can recall... so, you're really confusing me. |
Stevenson20:What do you mean "invade Taiwan"? Taiwan is Chinese territory, so China cannot invade itself. |
Righteousness2:Your belief & reality are 2 opposite things. Sadly, the truth is what is reality & not your belief. |
lightlogger:I don't understand, are you scared of facing the truth? Or what? Check the internet(which is free by the way), Israel that you know today was created in 1949. Many of you just follow religion blindly without wanting to know about the world that you live in. |
Viridis:Russia hostile? Even though Russia is a very strong country militarily, how many times have you ever heard that it was hostile or started trouble? Every single person no matter how calm or gentle will fight for their intetest/right if/when they have to talk less of a calm strong person. Secondly, Ukraine & Russia (just like many former soviet countries) are sister-countries & are traditionally friends/allies so Russia typically would never have attacked Ukraine. Even when I schooled with people who were from former soviet countries, they all revered Russia & each of their former soviet countries. Now, the president of Ukraine(Zelensky) let the west; US, NATO & EU deceive him. They (US, NATO & EU) took advantage of him being a novice leader in the hopes that Russia won't do anything & when Russia started to show that it won't tolerate their rubbish, they abandoned him. No right-thinking, pro-active leader would let an enemy military come & settle beside his country as that would mean danger to his/her country. The Ukrainian president should have known that fact, it's common sense. What are US & NATO(sworn enemies of Russia) looking for in territory that borders Russia? I would have done the same thing if I was Putin or if I was president of any country in the same position as Russia. |
Righteousness2:The Israel you know today was created in 1949. The internet is free. Check it out for yourself. |
Reference:Yeah yeah, how un-naive. Out of a 195 countries in the world, anytime the US has a dispute/fight with any country, the US is always the righteous/innocent one & the opposing country is always the devil. All 194 remaining countries are always at fault. Sounds intelligent. |
emapeteum:Mr Man, you don't get to tell me what to judge you by. I didn't tell you what to judge me by before you started spilling your emotions all across the room. Therefore, if you pick your own standards, I'd pick mine. Free world! |
emapeteum:LOL. My dear scholar. Please go learn to punctuate your sentences better & then you may finally be able to pass your message across better..... seeing that you're 'cultured'. |
Nitah1:Bro,I've read "How Europe underdeveloped Africa" by Walter Rodney. You're missing something. The Americans are the Europeans. Europeans settled in the USA & became the Americans you know today. The original/indigenous Americans (native Americans) were not whites(Caucasians). The native Americans suffered similar fate as Africans, they (native Americans) were literally exterminated & their lands taken from them. In fact, native Americans may have even suffered a fate worse than what Africans experienced because Africans/black people are still a large race in the world today at least. Native Americans were purged/killed & today, their race is virtually extinct. The whole of the continents you know today as 'North America & South America belonged to native Americans but today you can count the number of those natives that exist on both Continents. The North (North America) was mostly taken over by Europeans & then countries like Canada & the USA were created by Europeans. The South (South America) was mostly taken by Europeans too & several new countries were created there. |
