This is very good advice. Always pay attention to the operator when casting..they can be very stubborn.
The concern is the number of floors on the project. So I understand the concern of the engineer, especially with the building collapse issues in Lagos State.
A subtle suggestion is maybe to add more columns to distribute downward pressure. (Disclaimer I’m not a certified engineer)
I've supplied @ PrimeQuay with paints and application has started. I would post updates as soon as I get them. I wanted to quote the original mentions but I gave up after going back several pages reading through exchanges trying to locate the posts.
I also confirm this, the transaction was smooth, paint was delivered promptly.
I will feedback the house on my findings, for others to be enlightened.
It seems a good number of people have this problem in one shape or another.
Artisans/contractors I hail. Do these folks just collect money and use it to their benefit and leave the clients at their mercy, it’s very unfair a breach of contract and most especially trust.
Thenext: Baba Egunmogaji used Regal Paint produced by our able Gbadesky. I followed the suit and I bought paint from him as well. The painting of my house is ongoing and nearly completion. I can tell you categorically that Gbadexy paint is a top notch and very good quality just like Dulux. Gbadexy as a person is a very nice and honest man, kindly patronize him and you will never regret it.

Congrats on your project, painting = house warming soon.
I’m in conversation with him now.
Do you have current pictures of your paint job (the completed part) so we can all see. Don’t keep all the good things to yourself lol
What paints did your purchase and where did you use them.
Sorry for asking many questions, it’s due diligence.
uncleteeh: Here's just my own assertion, we have many engineers or contractors here that no one has ever called out
I pray those people continue to do good work.
And please if you have an issue don’t be intimidated to bring it up here, don’t just sweep it under the carpet because one day they will change carpet to tiles.
You are very correct. I don’t know why most people don’t like going to buy materials themselves. Artisans don’t own shops or import building materials. It is still the same market they would go to buy those materials.
The sad truth about using this method is that once you hand over the materials to the dubious one, they would corner half of it right before your eyes. Some would over use the materials and ask for more, after all is it not your house that everything went into. This is how I ended up using 180 bags of cement for a German floor that they initially calculated 120 bags of cement. They did not steal the cement, just that the were inconsiderate.
What paint products will you advice based on experience? I will be considering paint for exterior and interior, I know it depends on taste but at least there must be an acceptable standard
Caplux President Dulux Value paint
I think Egun paint his mansion recently, I trust his love for detail & quality.
Oga QsFemi, I moved on a long time ago. I just saw pictures of the shoddy job he did this morning, and I was triggered to talk
I think it is important to hold people (vendor/client) responsible in a timely manner so facts don’t get muddled up. To serve as a warning and also to avoid a repeat case.
Resolving the issues is better than letting it go.
This is the sad truth, if you decide you want to pay them in bits, they might claim majority of the funds is for materials. I’m currently chasing the guy that is supposed to do my HDF doors after paying 70% advance. Everyday it’s a different story.
From my little experience, procure your materials yourself(if you can) and just pay labor as work is delivered.
Don’t be afraid to enter market and price materials.
ChybuzzDD: I think complaints and their defense should be detailed and in one piece respectively, so that it'll be easy for others to read, understand and make their own inputs.
You guys are both writing in a hurry and making the write-ups unreadable with lots of grammatical errors.
But, mehnn!, Nigerian artisans no be am at all. I'm currently battling with my POP guy now after over 4wks of paying him more than 3/4 of his total bill for a 5-bedroom project.
Once they get majority of their money for the project, you'll be the one chasing them around to do their work.
10 tons is currently #33,000 and 15 tons is currently #40,000 pricing based on supply around Ibeju-Lekki; Lagasa Quarry. Regulated price from the Lagos State Sand Suppliers Association.
Hope you find this helpful for your building construction.
Like I did mention earlier, there are some painters that aren't mine that did perfectly neat application. I specifically requested for@ Thenext to post a few videos of the internal painting done by his painter. I'm particularly impressed with the neatness and how they took their time to do the cutting of the top part, lower part and part where different colors meet for first coat. If not told, you would think it was a finished painting and they are yet to apply the second coat. The final coat and cutting would be uniform with this approach. The paints were supplied by me and I can definitely give you same product at a much cheaper cost.
