I believe the bathroom layout would have been sorted in the design phase. The shape of the bathroom will play a role in position of bathroom elements

So if you are saying the plumber worked without supervision, did he freestyle the job or follow the design.

In either case if you plan on living in the house, make sure you design to your taste.

This should be a thread of its own! This one even try, some plumbers are ignorant in this aspect. They just layout bathrooms any way they feel and will tell you that is the usual practice. I had to change the whole layout of all my bathrooms when I saw what a plumber did without inspection.

I have a 2 axis red laser and 8 axis green laser devices. I picked mine up from Jijji.

I also have a tile hole cutter and a tile circular saw.

Wonderful tool. It takes the guess work out of straight lines or using the naked eye. I’m sure your tiler would have been delighted to have access to such tools.

Also looking at your building my guess the roof height is under 20feet.i would put 0'45mm roofing sheets..0'55 maybe an overkill..offcourse it's your house and your money and your call.cheers

Good evening house, it seems prices are back on the rise ; regarding cement. My supplier just called alerting me of a pending increase again.

Last I bought was 3,700 now it’s 3,900 less that 2 months interval. (Direct from lafarge)

If anyone is interested in splitting 800 bags(400/400) around the lekki axis. Let me know.

After much deliberation a tank stanchion has been decided.

My welder quoted for a 40ft stand and the price sent shockwaves down my spine.

Please help look at the quote, I believe it can be achieved for less. And I know @michlins isn’t based in lagos, I would have contacted him for the job.

We have now installed the sheets of this project.
We used Aluminum long span.55 guage for a budget of 1.3m for (sheets, accessories and installation)

Quick question about the colour of this roof, doesn’t black absorb more heat into the space, I understand the most likely POP will be used for the ceiling?

Also I’m at the roofing stage of my project as well, 1st thing on my list to do this year. If you don’t mind can you share contact of the supplier of the long span , I have about 265sqm to roof.

Sharp sand is 7 buckets, gum sand is 3 buckets. So total of 10 buckets for one bag of cement.

this level of rust under two years is basically cause of inferior choice of materials.

As it is now, I will suggest that you cut off the area that has been affected,use angle bar to frame it all round and then spray anti-rust paint first before proceeding further to paint it completely.

These paints goes for about 4500 each cup and the volume is just 1.5l. There are other brands like Sharon and Dulux depending on your funds

it can be salvaged. You have to replace the pipes at the bottom part with slopping pan. That way it doesn't retain water at all. If you're doing a gate in and around Lagos, kindly ensure that you don't use pipes at the bottom. Where if it's important to use pipes, cover it with angle iron of at least 4mm thick. That way, the effects of rusting will be delayed as much as possible.


See what I did here, instead of welding directly on the pipe, I got another stronger material to take the heat

@michlins thank for your input. I believe the cause for this level of rust just after 2 years of installation is the salt in the air in that area. In fact I observed other using an iron frame and wood to construct their gate in that area.

Can nothing be done to prevent rust?

Do you have any experience using anti rust paint/spray on your gate fabs?

I also noticed these hand railings didn’t rust. Pics:

In other news. I was asked to give advice on a gate that has been damaged due to the nature of the surrounding environment.

I gave my honest opinion to replace the gate, but there might be better solutions from experts here. What say ye?
