PoliticsRe: Youth-Centred Presidential Debate On Channels TV @ 7pm, 25th March by Princek12(m): 11:00pm On Mar 22, 2011
So will Ebele be attending the D'banj concert? If I catch any youth at the D'banj concert I will give that youth a dirty slap. The Kokomaster should perform to an empty audience.
PoliticsRe: Youth-Centred Presidential Debate On Channels TV @ 7pm, 25th March by Princek12(m): 4:51pm On Mar 22, 2011
Ebele is tripping. If he does not participate in this debate then Nigerians should not vote for him. Such refusal to participate in two open debates would signal a complete disregard for his constituents.
CultureNigerians And Excessive Use Of Shorthand In Their Messaging. by Princek12(op): 1:00am On Mar 21, 2011
The excessive use of shorthand, particularly by Young Nigerians in Nigeria, is now becoming an epidemic that has to be addressed. Granted, there are certain universally adopted text lingo, for example, "lol" and "brb," but some people have taken it far. For example:

"I luv u gal cos I lyk d way u mov uur bod jur. pl tk it izy & rmba mi o."

Messages such as the one above get on my last nerve because this has not only become a shorthand issue but also a mental laziness issue. Moreover, these shorthand languages are often used outside of text-messaging, many times in emails and letters. It is now becoming an epidemic among Nigerian youths. This is sad.
PoliticsRe: Wyclef Jean Shot In Hand In Haiti by Princek12(m): 11:29pm On Mar 20, 2011
I sense this is a publicity stunt, and that he purposefully injured himself or asked armed people to feign an attack on his life. He probably knows that such news would prompt people to rain money on his Yele Haiti campaign. I don't see how armed rebels attacked him and shot him on his hand, when they could have easily blown his brains out if they really wanted to kill him.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Sokoto Rally - In Pictures by Princek12(m): 6:29pm On Mar 18, 2011
Buhari will lobby our lawmakers to adopt a Sharia system. I don't trust this Buhari aboki.
PoliticsRe: I Don’t Advocate Violence - Buhari by Princek12(m): 6:10pm On Mar 18, 2011
Buhari's behavior shows that he has the propensity for violence and, if he were elected, would rule with an iron fist. This is not good for an alleged democratic society.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Promises Low Cost Houses by Princek12(m): 8:02pm On Mar 16, 2011
At the end of the day, our national leaders should hopefully realize that majority of all these problems are bottomed on the inadequate electricity in Nigeria. Many factories have shut down and moved to other countries (and many cannot start up) because they can survive on generators. This means that many jobs are lost, leaving many jobless people who cannot even afford the supposed low-cost housing. Even though Fashola is currently without authority to fix the electricity crisis, the man at least deserves substantial credit for changing Lagos amid a chaotic environment filled with many illiterate Nigerians and corrupt politicians.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Promises Low Cost Houses by Princek12(m): 5:11pm On Mar 16, 2011
jacobs123:
Fashola did not promise low cost houses, infact he's on record to have said that there can't be low cost houses because there are no low cost cement, sand, iron etc.
What I think Fashola is promising this time is to help people buy the houses with low cost mortgage!
Now read what you just wrote and see if it makes sense to you. The practical effect of a low-cost mortgage is the same as a low-cost housing. Someone, probably the Lagos State Govt., will have to subsidize the mortgage to make it affordable, anyway. Bottom line is that the government will be paying the interest rate indirectly or will have to help the buyers pay the builders directly. Either way, the government is paying someone, whether it is directly to the builders or indirectly to the banks.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Promises Low Cost Houses by Princek12(m): 2:50pm On Mar 16, 2011
I think affordable housing in Lagos is an issue that needs to be resolved, but I disagree as to the means by which the Governor Fashola is trying to resolve it. I think that Governor Fashola should give tax incentives to a private developer who will provide this low cost housing, and then the developer will collect enough rent that will make it affordable for an average Lagosian to live in. This developer should also be required to rent out some units (probably not more than 40% of the units) to others for a fair market price. This way it will be a mixed-income development.

That way, the developer can collect enough money to MAINTAIN the units, which will be more sustainable on the long run. People who make below a certain income will qualify for the low rents or can apply for government assistance in paying their rent. I believe this will be a more sustainable path to low housing than the method Governor Fashola is using and the low-cost houses he or his predecessor, Tinubu, has built. Those houses are not properly maintained by the government, and they end up being slums inhabited by low income people. Remember how the Jakande low-cost housing ended? Not so good. My two cents.

The people of Zamfara have shown they are animals. Why does one have to protest and voice his or her views against the opposition by stoning the candidate of the opposition? What happened to protesting in a civilized manner?

Interesting topic. My son counts in russian, swahili, spainish and french. For some weird reason he likes the idea of knowing different languages and he is only 3. I have taken note but I really don't even know where to start with it. If maybe I should make him focus on one or just let him have fun with it the way he is now
if you have one, can your son count in your native language? And if not, I pray to God to purge your mind of colonial mentality; and if yes, cheers and good job. I see that Swahili is mentioned, so I am assuming that Swahili is your native language.

EducationRe: Why Do Pple Think That Studying Abroad Is Easier by Princek12(m): 10:30pm On Mar 11, 2011
lakode:
No comparing,  Studying in Nigeria is hardship, My reasons,

, Bad infrastructure(we study in Nigeria atimes with candle light)
, Abroad you can work and still run a full time degree
, In some Schools abroad ,in Final year you can rewrite your exam as much as three times to pass( in Nigeria we call it carry over automatic extra year)
, Abroad the Professors have better respect and humility towards student , in Nigeria the Prof are damn Rude and arrogant
, In Nigeria a 4 years course can end as 7 years course(carry over plus ASU strike, Plus cult strike , etc)
,  And it goes on and on

You cant compare, Nigeria study is HELL, real one , Postgraduate study in Nigeria  are easy tough but Undergrad(No go Area)
I think people should take note of the following: whether the poster meant that the subject matter of the courses studied abroad is harder than that studied in Nigeria; or whether the  circumstances under which one studies abroad, presumably studying with good infrastructure and without strikes, for example, makes it easier than studying in Nigeria?
EducationRe: Why Do Pple Think That Studying Abroad Is Easier by Princek12(m): 10:14pm On Mar 11, 2011
I think that in abroad many, if not most, of the professors focus more on application; in Nigeria, on the other hand, many professors focus excessively on theory. I think application is harder than theory.

You sure know how to blame other people for your stupidity. Yoruba this, Hausa that, when will Ndigbo ever assume responsibility for their failure. To each his own! grin
You are a raccoon. Why do you have to resort to personal attacks? Because you cannot coherently raise a reasoned response to an assertion. You were the one who brought in  tribalism in the argument by suggesting Dangote is smarter than the Ibo people. I just made a general statement about how the lack of antitrust laws and nepotism has made him monopolize the markets he controls, a valid argument. You are a big fool.

Useless country. How can one man control all this industries? Simply because there are no antitrust laws. Dangote's connections with corrupt government officials helped him monopolize the market for rice and sugar, effectively eliminating the competition. Now you want me to credit that Dangote for what?

PoliticsRe: South Africa Defies Nigeria On Nigerian Soil by Princek12(m): 3:11pm On Mar 09, 2011
How can we be the giant of Africa when generators provide most of our electricity, when there are no good roads on which to drive, and when the average Nigerian has no access to a publicly-sourced clean, drinking water (water barely comes out of the tap)?

Our stupid leaders should be ashamed of themselves, that is, if they have one scintilla of shame, and should realize that all the luxury cars and generator sets in their compounds, which is usually shielded by high fences, will not save our country from this international embarrassment.

It is Only Yoruba ppl in this forum that want to Justify that TREASON commited by those 1DIOTICS,  How can you love money to the extent you wanna you sell your country's Respect. It is obvious that the Yorubas are the king of Betrayal in this country, listen to her statement, " South Africa is actually the Giant of Africa" and some dude her said she did not mention Nigeria. A South African do the same advert for Nigeria, You have to love your country and be patriotic,  Now who said Igbos love money more than any other ethnic in Nigeria. Imagin that ugly Somolo woman, South African here Mock us for that Advert.
Are you confusing the issue? Is the issue whether South Africa is actually the true giant of Africa? Or whether it is unpatriotic, or an outright betrayal, for a Nigerian to make an arguably truthful statement that South Africa is the true giant of Africa?
