What does the man being Ibo have to do with anythinghuh Are Ibo men more inclined to domestic violence, and is there scientific evidence to back such claims? It just seems to me that a frustrated man shoots his wife, and is soon going to pay the penalty for such a nefarious act. Whether he is Ibo or not is totally irrelevant, or else you can scientifically prove other wise. I am more concerned that you can't seem to abstain from tribalising every single thing.
Being Ibo has to a lot do with many things. Can you explain the fact that a substantial majority of this cases are perpetrated by Ibo men? That is a  fact. It may be coincidental or may be traceable to Ibo culture. But the facts are indisputable.
PoliticsRe: I’ll Remove Immunity Clause – Buhari ! by Princek12(m): 5:02pm On Mar 01, 2011
I now know this guy is a fool, and he thinks Nigerians are fools. How does removing the immunity clause advance any important interest? The immunity clause simply immunes them from prosecuting presidents while in office, which I think is a good thing, so that opponents will not use frivolous lawsuits to interrupt the president's duties while in office. But no law is stopping anyone from prosecuting the president for criminal activities after he leaves office, and the main problem is prosecuting former presidents for criminal activities after they leave office, not while they are in office. Buhari needs to shut up if he has nothing to say. And if he wants to say something, it should at least be something of substance, such as  promising to prosecute ex presidents like Babangida and OBJ for criminal activities committed while in office.

BusinessRe: Chinese Firms Swindle Nigerian Importers by Princek12(m): 5:19pm On Feb 22, 2011
I am glad that some Nigerians are now being swindled by Chinese firms; that way, these same Nigerians will know how it feels when some of our Nigerian brethren--through 419 schemes--swindle from other foreign folks money and expensive merchandise. Please I am not by any means supporting wrongdoing, but I am sick and tired of some, if not a substantial majority, of Nigerians who condone (or who do not vehemently condemn) 419 activities being perpetrated by our fellow Nigerian brethren. Now when the hunter becomes the hunted, he will know how it feels to be hunted.

It is only Nigeria I know where reeetards pay a fee to let their celebration event be in the glossy magazine (Ovation). It is the reverse in most other places.
True talk. The sad thing is that I am sure many people who shell out N25K for these VIP tickets can barely afford it, and paying such amount will severely strain their finances. But just to be among the 'owambe' crowd,  some of these folks will pay such astronomical ticket fees. I guess they feel being among the owambe crown somehow makes them among the people with a higher status.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Are Nigerian Gate-fees reasonable?: Vote Please by Princek12(m): 9:35pm On Feb 19, 2011
Anytime you have a situation as this one, you blame the customers who pay these exorbitant gate fees, not the promoters. If people don't pay it, then promoters won't be charging it. But again, because of the historical lack of entertainment in Nigeria the average Nigerian resident is desperate for anything entertainment, so those promoters are taking advantage of that desperation.

I saw your first comment comparing this man's plight to wrongfully convicted persons in America. There is a big difference. The ones in America at least had a fair trial that led to their unfortunate conviction. I am sure you know there is no perfect system. The man here was held for 15 years without a trial; he was essentially forgotten in detention. That does not happen in America.

And even for those who are wrongfully convicted in America, there are many organizations, i.e., the innocence project, that work hard to make sure that they are released. And when they are released, the newly freed convicts usually are entitled (and often do get) remedies in form of monetary damages, many times multi million dollar payments, that help them get on their feet. Now tell me if that happens in Nigeria. You cannot compare a Kia to a Rolls Royce. It just doesn't make sense.

PoliticsRe: What Can Nigerians Learn From The Egyptian Uprising by Princek12(op): 1:51pm On Feb 03, 2011
I agree with Kobokunje that, unlike the Egyptians, Nigerians have not taken to the streets en masse to protest their government. Concededly, the Egyptian government is arguably more repressive than anything Nigeria has seen, in that, unlike Nigeria where the worst we have seen are the Babangida 9-yr regime and the Abacha regime, the Egyptian dictator has forcefully ruled for 30 years.

Some have argued that because Nigeria has not experienced the level of repression in Egypt, that there has been no need to take to the streets like the Egyptians. That argument assumes that Nigerians have not been as frustrated as the Egyptians and therefore have no need to protest en masse. I disagree.

If anything, that argument supports my position, which says that Nigerians are too scared and weak to protest en masse. The fact that we have not experienced a repressive government like the Egyptians should supposedly give us more freedom to protest, which we have failed to do.

We have had unstable electricity for 30 years plus, and Nigerians are palpably frustrated at rigged elections and Northern domination of our polity. Also we have seen our fathers and grandfathers cling unto power as if the country is beholden to them. Yet we, especially the youths, have done nothing comparable to what the Egyptians are doing, despite the protection of the international media and social networking sites presumably afforded to us.
CelebritiesRe: Pregnant Daughter Of Nigerian Billionaire Set To Deliver Baby In The Usa! Why? by Princek12(op): 1:32pm On Feb 03, 2011

I made a mistake, Bella is a British citizen, not American. Her husband is an American citizen though.
However, a woman who gives birth in a foreign country will most likely pay through her nose for the health care, how is that abusing the system? A lot of women go abroad to have their babies and bring them back to Nigeria. They haven't done anything wrong or committed any crime.
If they even intend to send those kids back to America after 18 years, its still all well and good because the child will most likely pay tuition and contribute to the economy and labour market of that country.
You need to calm down.
Spiked Cylinder,

What you have said is usually not the case. Many Nigerian women who come here to give birth do not pay their medical bills. In the USA there is a law that forbids emergency rooms from denying emergency care. These women go there during labor, rack up about $16,000 to $20,000 in bills, and disappear. Some of them even give the hospitals fake addresses. So when the hospital later sends them their huge bill, the women are back in Nigeria where they cannot be reached, nor can their credit report flagged nor a lien placed on their property because they have no ties with America. A lot of our women know this and have taken advantage of it.

As per the tuition, the child coming back at 18 years old qualifies for Pell grant, which is a government grant for eligible citizens and residents. The child also qualifies for a federally subsidized loan, and many of these kids take advantage of it.

I am not saying all of our women abuse the system but reports suggest that an overwhelming majority of them do. Let's be real: how many Nigerian women who come to the USA to deliver can afford to pay about $20,000 in medical bills? And even the ones who can afford it usually don't pay it because they can abuse the system and get away with it.

If u can afford to send your wife to the US to deliver your baby, U are not exactly wallowing in poverty.
says who? Many people who are in poverty save for years and sell properties just to come and give birth in the U.S. And when I mean poverty I do not really mean that they are extremely poor but that they are not among the elite. I admit I was not very clear, though!

She's wealthy, she and her husband are Americans (which automatically makes the kid American) and she chose to go to America to have her child, it must mean she wants to abuse the system? huh
Really? So as they also did part of their honeymoon in America, it means they are looking for greener pastures as well too abi? huh
I am not saying that she, specifically, wants to abuse the system. And there is no evidence supporting that they are U.S. citizens. I am saying generally that women who give birth in foreign countries without contributing to the country, and sending their children back there 18 yrs later to benefit from a country to which they contributed nothing, are abusing the system.

I am now beginning to think the typical Nigerian is genetically predisposed to abuse any privilege. Maybe that is why our country is rife with corruption, and any thing built on trust can hardly function in Nigeria. Even if both she and her husband are American, do they pay taxes or contribute to the development of America? Even if she is American, maybe her own mother also gave birth to her in America so that she can come and reap the benefits of America, and she is only continuing the cycle.
