Justice Obiora failed us
No! Justice failed all! Justice went on all four at the feet of corruption! This is the kind of thing Nigerians should protest about. But we take them too lightly. How did they read that verdict? Those Justices should resign!!! This is so annoying.

festacman:
As an experienced jurist, the question is why should Justice Obiora absent himself instead of agreeing with other judges on the tribunal for a simple extra day adjournment. And having absented himself, why did he proceed to read the lead judgement, which referenced and relied significantly on the proceedings of the very he absented himself. It is simply mind boggling for a neutral but a melodious song to the ears of APC supporters. Jagaban the master strategist and Chief Olanipekun SAN the master 'legal technicalist' have done it again.
And the highest court in the land just masturbated in frivolity! When I read the reason for upholding the appeal court ruling, I almost wept. Setting the order and rituals of proceedings above facts and justice by the Supreme Court of Nigeria is something we should all be worried about. I mean a Judge's absence as a criterion to deciding a matter of such magnitude. Unheard!!! Where is this Lucipher Guy on nairaland? Please come and spit on Nigerian Judiciary.

Sports / Re: Nigeria Vs France: How Super Falcons Could Still Qualify Despite 1-0 Defeat by princeSammyz: 10:49am On Jun 18, 2019
chisomdoris:
Nigeria, on Monday night, lost 1-0 to hosts France in their last Group A game at the ongoing Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons held on for 75 minutes, before conceding a penalty that Wendie Renard converted at the second time of asking.

Before the game, it was almost certain that Thomas Dennerby’s ladies would finish third in the group, as Norway were going to face Korea Republic.

However, if they had gotten a point, the Falcons would have stood a bigger chance.

Nigeria’s chances, which are now slim, depend on results from other groups.

But there are only three spaces left, as China has already taken one of the slots reserved for the best third-placed teams.

For the African champions to qualify for the Round of 16, Scotland need to beat Argentina. Or at least hold the South Americans to a draw.

New Zealand must also hold Cameroon or if either side wins, it must not be by more than three goals.

Thailand, who have conceded 17 times already, should not lose by more than three goals to Chile.

The Falcons might even need Jamaica to pull off a shock win over Australia in Group C.

Group games will be concluded by Thursday, June 20.

This is not very clear. Does it mean all these conditions must be fulfilled or one of it is enough

No, they let him down, He was so deep in depression they didn't notice, They were either unable or unwilling to help. He felt trapped with only one exit, intervention, and counseling from family and friends could have helped, but then again everyone in Nigeria is fighting one demon or another. RIP
Maybe yes. But maybe the reverse is the case. Did he try to confide in anyone? Nothing fuels depression more than keeping things to oneself. But unfortunately we can never know. I still maintain suicide is not it. It may be an easy way out, but not the only way out. He was even working with a school, and from the name of the school it seem it is a standard school sef

SillyMods:

And is it not the court that will decide the fate of both INEC and the candidate? And what else should be done once the FHC has ordered INEC to issue him the certificate?

The sensible thing for INEC to do was to issue him the certificate and sue him for his alleged action.
Of course. As it stands now with the court order we expect INEC to act in accordance. But my point is, why did they leave the issue hanging for so long like they had no clue whatsoever? I believe the electoral officer gave his report and recommendations on the matter. They should have investigated and acted accordingly and let Okorocha do the suing. But no, they had to wait endlessly, putting the efforts of the patriotic Nigerian that refused to be an instrument of injustice to naught. I blame INEC, but I would not say they worked for PDP here, rather against it

Useless INEC working for PDP. If the judgement was in favour of one PDP senator, you will rush to issue the certificate. But since it's the other way round, you must review the order first.

I no blame una, Na Buhari I blame.
This is not about party but sanity. The returning officer said he was forced to announce the result and you think this is just about parties?

The commission should act in accordance with the report of the REC, and they should have done that already even before the court order. The cert of return should not be issued to him just like that as it will only serve as a very bad precedence.
