Culture › Igbo Names And Region by Probz(op): 12:56am On May 10, 2017 |
We all know how common variant names (aka Ngozi/Nkoli, Okeke/Okekere) are in the east, just like whole names unique to certain areas. Which ones do you think of?
I associate Nne/anna, Kalu and Ogbonna with the eastern/Cross River Igbo (Ohafia, Afikpo/Edda, Bende) and Agalamanyi with Nsukka area. How about unu? |

So why single out Ebonyi if two-thirds of Enugu indigenes are ancestrally Igala? |

AbakalikiPress: Yes, Anambra Igbos are a little Mixed with Igala, then there is another extra 2% that still self identify Igala. Enugu is not little, it is heavy. I mean like more than 65% of Enugu North Zone are converted Igalas. There is no tiv there, Just Igala and some Idoma. The Zone in Lemon below.

Igedes are in Ebonyi trust me, but I don't know what percent you want the to get to, before they are considered significant there. 65% of ndi Enugwu are Igala? Are you trying to be funny? |
Culture › Re: Igbo Land by Probz(m): 5:34pm On May 09, 2017 |
Imo's the only 100% pure Igbo state, nwa Abakaleke. Anambra and Enugu a little mixed with Igala, Enugu with Tiv and Idoma and Abia with Ibibio. Ndi Igede aren't even recognised as having a significant presence in Ebonyi. |

fratermathy: Wonderful! You came to a thread, skipped all its pages to the last, singled out one in your mind's eyes, and commented!
Bravo man! Bravo! Nairaland gets better everyday. I'm allowed to skim read as much or little as I like and I don't need to get involved in Nairaland politics to make a comment. Doesn't make me a hypocrite. How old are you? |

fratermathy: You believed he is Ikwerre, even without him writing in Ikwerre, simply because he supports your interests but you doubt the Igboness of AbakalikiPress because he disparages your stand and that of your online hunters? Such double standards!
The so-called Ikwerre1stson is so bent on letting all know he is Ikwerre by posting it multiple times even when it is obviously encapsulated in his username. Such proclaimation of identity begs serious questioning. HopeAtHand.. take over from here. I need some Ikwerre interrogations for the self proclaimed Ikwerre1stson, just like blues20 and others have been interrogating AbakalikiPress.
Nairaland is really full of wonders! I only saw that one comment. Does it look like I'm following the topic or that I'm bothered about the politics of the Nairaland Ikwerre association? Did I ever doubt that Abakaleke nigga's Igboticness? Save your nonsense epistle for someone who cares. Come on shut up. Eyiye. |

ezugegere: The only word I know that has the same meaning in Ebira and Igbo languages is 'ejima'. Ejima means twins in both languages. Tnat particular word stems from Igala/Yoruba actually. But spoken Ebira sounds Igboid enough for a listener. |

AbakalikiPress: Hhaha, this one you posted is the "Modernist" version of Igbo territory. Ethnologists are not stupid.
Again, look at ANOTHER map of TRUE speakers of Igbo. Not political Igbo.
Again it agrees with all my points. Northern Enugu - OUT. Ebonyi - OUT, Anioma - OUT, Arochukwu - OUT Again, let me mention that it isn't accurate, but it is close.

In rivers, only the Omumma general area is there. Ikwerre, Ekpeye and Etche are out. Ekpeye's the only distinct lect in the Igboid continuum. The Etche you wan discredit is classed as pure Igbo (not even Igboid) but Izzi and Ezza aren't. Go figure. |

AjaanaOka: Probz,
You are probably from Umuzocha or Umubele on your mum's side. Those are the two Awka villages with the strongest Igala links. Oh yes, Umudioka, too.
I am from Umuzocha myself. Sometimes we get called 'Ndu Igala' (Igala people) by the other Awka villages. My grandfather and many Umuzocha men of his generation spoke fluent Igala. It doesn't seem that they passed on that knowledge though, because my father and his siblings can't speak it. Umuzocha's the one, yup. |
