BusinessRe: Young Shall Grow Transport To Build Five-star Hotel In Eko Atlantic City by proeast(m): 8:30pm On Jul 11, 2020
At times I wonder why our people behave the way they do sometimes. Everything shouldn't be about naira and Kobo profit. Owerri as a city has proven to be highly lucrative in real estate and hotel business. If he builds that five star hotel there or in Enugu, what will happen? All these things we are building all over the place in Lagos, Abuja etc. while our own cities and states are in need of them is very bad.

All these noise is bullcrap. If America and China are in support of her candidacy then nothing the enemies of progress can do that will work.

Whether she wins this or not, it won't diminish her status one bit as one of Africa's greatest women.

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is already a collosus, an Amazon and an icon. A role model to women globally and she will continue to receive accolades till the day she dies. That's the painful truth enemies of progress should deal with.

These are 356 wise people who value their lives. What is the rational in fighting terrorists that are more valued than the soldiers themselves.

Many soldiers are being owed backlog of salaries.
Many of them are put in harm's way by allowing them to fight with outdated weapons.
Many of them are sometimes sabotaged!

Many of them have not entered a plane before, or sent on any course abroad but worthless terrorists are being flown in aircrafts, camped and fed well, and even sent abroad on scholarships shocked

They can now do something useful with their lives. God bless them!

The funny thing is that the poor areas of Enugu you posted is actually better than 90% of the slum settlement called Ibadan. Abeokuta, Oshogbo, Owo, Ogbomosho and indeed all SW cities are all rustic slum settlements. Non of them can be called a city in the real sense of it because Soweto in SA that is called a slum looks far more beautiful and livable than 90% of your settlements. I can post the pictures if you argue with me so others can make their own comparison.

Check out Aba Mega mall.
The problem is complicated and has to do with convincing merchants to accept change.

They all want to continue in old ways
It is not complicated at all. It only requires a governor who is ambitious and passionate for it to be realized.

That Aba Mega Mall at Osisioma is not the sort of mall I'm talking about. I mean large malls that will have thousands of shops that are partitioned with transperant glass compartments. They would be fitted with those small indoor shuttle cars and conveyor belts to ease movement of people and goods.

Humans are naturally resistant to change. If you're waiting for traders at those markets (some of whom own multiple shops they rent to others) to key into the idea, it will not work. All the state government needs to do is to demolish the markets in sections while replacing it with malls until they are totally replaced. For instance, the government will partner with developers, build the first mall for textiles, clothings, shoes and bags. As they are building it, they will notify the traders selling those items that they have a grace period of say three months. Once the mall is completed, selling of those items will be banned in the market except in the malls. Then they move to another section until the entire market is replaced with malls. They should make sure the rent is affordable.

The basic reason why Aba and Onitsha are often filthy is due to so many unweldy markets littering everywhere. Once malls becomes a standard, the outlook of these cities will improve massively.

If we remodel onitsha well and make it properly planned, to be honest, people from Africa will come to buy market in Onitsha.

Onitsha easily is the greatest commercial City in Africa.

I have so much idea of wat to do with it.

The place is a goldmine and money-spinner.

Could even net more money than Oil and Gas for the state government.
I have said this same thing severally. I even created a thread on it, though my focus was on Ariaria. How can we be waiting on the federal government for allocation like other lazy states when we have all it takes to develop our region to world class status?! Onitsha market used to be so huge and popular before the Biafran war to the extent that buyers were coming from outside Nigeria to buy goods there.

Today, Onitsha main market and Ariaria are still operating the same way they did decades ago. There was nothing like Dubai when Onitsha main market and Ariaria were already generating billions in turnover, but today, Dubai has become one of the most advanced places in the world, and they didn't achieve that with crude oil proceeds but through trading!

If only we can generate 10% of the volume Dubai trades in Aba and Onitsha, these states will be the richest in Nigeria, and it is very possible!

Ariaria already has a pipeline built by shell that supplies gas to the area. Now, building a massive malls that can contain up to 50,000 affordable shops with central cooling system is easy. These two markets are hugely bankable and investors will fall over themselves to be involved in developing them to world class status. Nigeria is located in a central area in Africa, and it can easily become a regional trading centre that will cater for the whole of Africa, a market of over 1 billion people!

Once these markets become standardized, investors from China, EU, India and America will definitely flood because corporate brands only like identifying with sectors that are developed. These people won't like to open showrooms in Onitsha main market or Ariaria simply because of how dilapidated they are, but once these massive malls are built, you will see them opening their centers here and multiplier effect can only be imagined.

We are sitting on gold mine without knowing it.

Las Las, una go still carry the presidency come Enugu come dey beg grin

I just dey laugh afonja and their naivity cum gullibility. They think they stand a chance in 2023. Tifnubu is just wasting his time. What happened to Abiola will be a child's play compared to how they will humilate him. Those that fail to learn from history are bound to repeat the same mistakes of the past. The North will never support an afonja who is popular among his people, rather they will support one who is weak and unpopular. In the first republic, Awo had a god status among the afonjas, but the Northerners used another unpopular afonja in the person of Akintola to humilate him and threw him into jail. Awo was so desperate to rule Nigeria but they ensured he never realised his ambition till he committed suicide kicked the bucket.

In 1993, Abiola was the most popular afonja alive, he was rich, well connected and desperate to rule Nigeria. The same Northerners were also desperate to ensure he never rules Nigeria and Abiola was arrested, humiliated and died in controversial circumstances while in prison.

In 1999, the afonjas were bruised and frustrated, out of pity, the North decided to compensate them with the presidency. The afonjas decided to support Olu Falae to represent them. They went behind and released OBJ from prison. The same OBJ afonjas hated with passion then because they felt he couldn't use his power as military president to support Awo but instead went with Shagari who the North wanted. Obasanjo won while the afonja choice, Olu Falae suffered a crushing defeat.

Anyone who is smart will easily decide a pattern here. Now, Tifnubu has become very popular among afonjas and he is desperate to rule (the same traits that Awo and Abiola had) and no one needs a soothsayer to decipher what will happen come 2023. Osinbajo, Fashola or even Fayemi has a brighter chance of ruling Nigeria than Tifnubu. They will keep using him and making him comfortable enough to live in a fool's paradise until the eleventh hour when he thinks nothing can stop him, then the cabals will strike and bring him to his knees. I don't know why it is difficult for people to see what is already obvious.

Northerners will rather continue ruling than allow another afonja to rule after OBJ's 8 years as president and Osinbajo's 8 years as vice.

An afonja president will not bring any benefit whatsoever to the polity.

You will hardly see Emeka Kayode marry Aisha Muhammad,

northern Nigerian Muslim women are prohibited from marrying Non Muslims esp. southerners, even if you are a southern Muslim you still can't marry from there if you doubt me go try am and live to tell the tale, you have to marry without parents permission and run for your life.

Before Islamic ummyad entered Nigeria through the desert, we all lived not exactly as one, but we didn't hate each other, inter marriage wasn't really a big deal, but after Islam entered a line was drawn.

The agenda to dip the Koran in the Atlantic became a thing. To be achieved by fire by force and as such Yorubas we're forced to convert at knife point and dagger point in the war of Ogbomosho in 1840.

To keep Islam growing worldwide bars were set against non Islam men marrying, Islamic women and Islamic men were encouraged to marry not just 4 wives but also marry non Islamic women to procreate for Islam and kill out the infidels/Kafirs.

A woman can only produce one baby every 9months, a man can impregnate a new woman every week, this is part of the reason Islam places value on men, let me add that almost all religions were invented by men and as such more value is placed on men but as a man in Islam the incentives and privileges you get are too much so you won't even dream of leaving.

Some examples are 1. your wife can not stop you from getting a new wife, it is a sin on her part if she does
2. you are allowed to beat your wife to correct her, it's in the koran and various haddiths.

you can see that the Muslim populace will grow exponentially as opposed to the non Muslim populace so that was the plan and it seems to be working look at the growth of Islam no new converts compared to other religions, it's mostly hereditary in Nigeria people are prevented from leaving Islam through Disinheritance and disownment from family, if you leave the religion you are disowned and you cannot inherit any property from any of your family members and you are made an outcast so people don't leave even when they want to.

If you don't believe me because you suspect every Nigerian has a tribal agenda fine and good look beyond Nigeria, look at Turkey, only 2 years ago was the ban on Muslim women marrying non Muslims lifted, a whole turkey.

This goes to show us that much of organised religion as we know it, is an instrument of social control and not a race to heaven. A particular group trying to control the rest that's all.q

One Nigeria

Congrats to the couple regardless
99% of what you wrote above is true but one lady who is the daughter of a prominent Hausa man recently got married to MC Tagwaye, the Igbo guy commedian who often mimicks Buhari. The same person that last addressed you guys as the GCFR grin

I think it all boils down to exposure. The well exposed and learned ones among them are not so rigid unlike the fanatical ones who are largely uneducated and unenlightened. I will personally prefer my child to marry a Northerner or Westerner than marrying someone from say Senegal or Gambia.

Honestly, we do. Even though lack of adequate power supply is largely given as the reason why our cities lack skyscrapers, I think that huddle could be bypassed with the use of solar powered lifts. Investors can build skyscrapers and put solar panels across its roof to power the lifts. That is the way to go. When you look at the skyline of other countries like South Africa and others, you will see skyscrapers dotting their cities.

Investors in Igboland should start thinking in that direction, and once individuals start doing it, others will join in and it will become a norm.

Really?! Rivers State and Akwa Ibom each have annual budgets in excess of 500 billion naira while Ebonyi struggles with just about 100 billion naira yet there ain't much difference between them in terms of projects delivered. Do you know what only an additional 100 billion naira given to Umahi can do?? If Umahi is given half of what Wike or Udom has at their disposal, he will perform more than the two of them combined.

Ebonyi is in the category of Ekiti state in terms of revenue and when they were created, but can you compare both states now?!

We Igbos don't suffer fools gladly, we call them out when they mess up, just as we are doing with characters like T.A Orji, Rochas, Okezie Ikpeazu so we don't celebrate mediocrity or close our eyes like some others do.

Imagine the top of that mesh of substandard rods/wires with its thin coating of concrete caving in on cars and people.
If Nigeria were to be a sane country, Rochas and those he used to erect this rubbish would have been answering questions now.

How can someone spend billions of naira erecting rubbish all over the state? He even demolished underground tunnels/gutters Mbakwe built that ensured Owerri never got flooded in the name of expanding roads.

This man left so many white elephant projects in the name of hospitals that are now lying in ruins, and to think that billions of naira were claimed to have been spent on all these nonsense is enough to make one go crazy.

Ebonyi does not have half the money Imo state has, yet look at what Dave Umahi did in that state. Umahi built very durable projects that has helped to revolutionize the state but Rochas decided it was better to scam Imo state. He will definitely pay for what he did to ndi Imo someday.
