Borno and Niger states are bigger than the entire SW so what's your point again, village man?

It is not about population, it is about who is lazy and who is not. If afonjas can't compete with Igbos in Lagos and are now crying to the bullion van drug lord to come to their rescue, is it in the East that they can stand a chance?

Igbos are hardworking, Hausas are hardworking but afonjas are very lazy. Igbos have sectors they dominate in Nigeria, Hausas have sectors they dominate in Nigeria but can you tell me a sector afonjas dominate?

Hushpuppy is a criminal afonja who has brought shame to all Nigerians. The dumb girls that are being abused and sold as slaves in Lebanon are afonja. Most of those committing incest in Nigeria are afonja. It is afonjas that now see skull mining as a profession, in fact there is a higher likelihood for one to lose his or her head in afonja land than for a black man to be killed by a cop in America.

Lol, ignorance is not bliss my friend. Lack of exposure has made you guys to be oblivious of reality.

At the rate afonja women and girls are moving down to the East, they will soon out number those that remain in afonja land. Come to Owerri and see thousands of them roaming about here with dirty bowels and bottles filled with poisonous substances. You can't go to any motor park without seeing them in droves selling that kidney damaging concussion they call agbo to touts. I even pity them because those touts often manhandle them.

As Yorubas pray to go to Heaven, Igbos pray to go to Yoruba land.[/s]
You're busy ranting and pouring spit everywhere yet you can't make sense. Aside Lagos which was Nigeria's former capital for donkey years, where else in the SW is liveable? All your so called cities are worse than Soweto, a slum in SA. I had to sublet my apartment in Lagos and return to the East in 2013 because I couldn't imagine settling down in such dysfunctional city where people spend more time in traffic than they do at home.

Without Nigeria making Lagos its capital, the place would have been as ugly as the rest slum settlements in your region.

If Nigeria remains an entity, we will buy up the whole of Lagos and you all will have no choice than to retreat into your villages. If Nigeria breaks up, we will cut off the gas pipelines supplying gas to Lagos and relocate all our companies home.

Igbos are at the top of the food chain in your region, controlling commerce while afonja women are roaming our cities here selling poisonous substances they call agbo while their men go about with half filled pet bottles looking filthy.

The fact that you have to list a few to prove your point shows that you have lost this argument. If non Igbo goes to SE easily and make money, everyone would know, a few people here and there who risked it cannot change the reality that your region is clannish and not accommodating
Lol, so you expect me to be listing all the foriegners in Owerri or in the East for you, does that even make sense?

The whole stretch of Mbaise road towards Douglas road have been taken over by Northerners selling all manner of things like cloths, footwear and other goods. I mean a busy road and despite the fact that they have been warned severally to relocate to other designated areas yet no one has molested them.

Douglas road is always crowded with Hausas doing all manner of business no one disturbs them. They are so free to the extent of blocking one lane of the road on Fridays during their prayers and no one disturbs them. Most menial jobs are now given to the Northerners because they accept low wages. There are thousands of Yoruba girls roaming our streets and selling poisonous substances they call agbo and despite how dangerous that concoction they sell is, no one disturbs them. There are thousands of Yoruba men roaming our streets with pet bottles selling dangerous root-like substances, yet no one disturbs them. There are many others doing tailoring, mechanic as well as menial jobs yet no one worries them.

Some of you even make ridiculous and dumb assertions that Igbos don't sell lands to others. Lack of exposure and years of listening to your parents lies about Igbos or the East is what has messed up your mindset. To worsen it, you guys are not adventurous and that is why you can see grown men who have not stepped out of their immediate neighborhood or villages since they were born.

I can bet you that Igbos are far more accommodating than you yorubas because I have spent some time in the West too and I know how you guys view everything through tribal prism. However, you can believe whatever you want to believe if it helps you to sleep at night but it can't change facts.

Lol, you guys are yet to get the memo. These Northerners are not doing anything based on common good, THEY ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN DOING THINGS THAT WILL FAVOR ONLY THEM, EVEN IF IT WILL BE AT THE DETRIMENT OF OTHERS.

What was the economic value of spending billions of dollars we do not have to search for ellusive oil in the North? Oil that we still have almost 40 billion barrels in reserve! Oil that is fast losing relevance and economic value globally yet they had to waste borrowed billions of dollars searching for it in the North!

What is the economic sense in building a refinary in far away inland Kaduna, that is hundreds of miles away from any known oil field even when rich oil states like Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Imo, Edo and Abia does not have any?

What is the economic sense in building maritime university in the arid North when the coastal areas has non?

What is the economic sense in building most military establishments in Kaduna when a sensible country would have spread it across nationally?

What is the economic sense in rebuilding federal roads in Borno state where Boko Haram is still very active killing, maiming and destroying when other federal roads in peaceful and economically viable areas in the South are in total disrepair?

What is the economic sense using quota system to deny intelligent students from gaining admission into federal colleges and universities while allowing dum.b ones to enroll but when it comes to sensitive federal appointments, they will turn around to tell you that having all appointments from one area/zone in the North is not bad provided they can deliver?

I can go on and on to table all the madness going on in Nigeria against the Southerners yet some useful idiots don't see anything wrong in it.

The truth is that North does not believe in Nigeria or support its total growth, they are only interested in what they can milk out of it as long as it lasts.

Even an Anambra indigène is considered second class in Imo state, talk less of people from other non-igbo extraction.

Igbos need to get it right amongst themselves first, before they can start the healing process then contest and win the presidency.

Untill then, no one is going to hand over presidency to igbo tribe and even if its handed over, that won't heal the civil-war wounds[/s].
Stop uttering garbage!
No foreign tribe makes money in Igboland? Honestly, lack of exposure has really messed you guys up real bad. FYI, there are lots of other tribes including foreign nationals all over the East making money. A Yoruba man lives in my compound. This man has been living there even before I moved in. According to him, he has lived in Owerri for over ten years and executes government contracts. This man is wealthy! Come to Douglas road here in Owerri and see hundreds of Northerners that have lived in Owerri for decades, many of them were born here and they speak Igbo fluently. I have a Togolese friend who is a building contractor and he often tells me that Igbos like giving him contracts because they trust him.

When I was living in Aba as a kid in the 90's, there was a certain Alhaji Labral who lived in my street. Dude was rich and drove fleet of cars. It was during the reprisal riots against killing of Igbos in Kaduna that made him to flee because lots of Northerners were killed and he got Intel early enough to escape.

Anyone who is in Owerri and listens to radio would know of a Yoruba man called Akintola AC. Dude is quite popular in auto mechanic and you should know that someone who runs daily radio advert is cashing out seriously. Again, if there is any phobia against Yorubas as you all always claim, will he be bearing Akintola AC as his business name?

Remain in your little village and be saying rubbish while the few of your brothers who are smart enough to compete in the East are cashing out seriously.

The question you should rather ask is, how many of you can withstand competition in business?

How many of you can pay higher rents?

How many of you are adventurous?

Honestly, I'm apathetic to Igbo presidency for some reasons.
1. Any Southern president will always end up like Jonathan. The Northerners will use covert and overt means to put him on a leash.

2. An Igbo president will still want to do more for the North just to be in their good books, same way GEJ did but they will still never be satisfied and will boot him out at the slightest excuse.

3. You want to make Orji Uzor president but you had to rubbish him first, humiliate him, jail him and still turn around to release and celebrate him. All in an effort to ensure he sees them as his saving grace.

4. If these guys truly want to ensure an Igbo president emerges holistically, don't we have more capable hands that can offer excellent governance? But no, they want someone who has baggages they can always use to blackmail him.

5. When they claim they want a detribalised Igbo as president what they mean in essence is that they need an Igbo man that would be loyal to the cabal. Someone who will not upset the rotten system.

Igbo president without full restructuring will never heal wounds.

I'm not in the mood to go tribal, at least not in this thread about Soyinka. How is Achebe a bigot? Igbos have been at the receiving end of the Nigerian polity. It was a sort of central government endorsed discrimination and Igbo marginalization became a national pasttime. This is what the north fears, this is what the western power fears...that an African country can uplift the continent, and make Africa great again...

Only if the yorubas and igbos can see this.... We have the world to conquer, not just Africa or present day Nigeria
The problem is caused by our politicians and selfish elite who are willing to throw the rest of us under the bus just to gain favour from the North.

Naturally, the psychy and worldview of an average Igbo or Yoruba is totally different with that of Hausa/fulani. While the former two are progressives who are naturally seeking to self improve, the latter is a fatalist who is naturally unambitious and stagnant.

Believe me, if Nigeria were to be controlled by Igbos or Yorubas, it would have been advancing rapidly because they would bring their worldview into governance. The way Nigeria is today, is basically the way Hausas and fulanis want it to be. Nigeria's stagnancy and the chaos it is perpetually experiencing is the natural worldview of the Hausa/Fulani which they've now imposed on the rest of us.

The only way we can excape it is through total break-up or semi autonomy that will allow regions to control their resources and pace of development. Aside that we will continue to go in circles until it will finally implode on all of us.

Isn't it funny how you guys make it appear like Lagos is synonymous to Western Nigeria. Common, Lagos was Nigeria's former capital for donkey years and thus attracted most of its infrastructures and amenities. Same way Abidjan attracts most of the elite in Ivory Coast, or Nairobi does to Kenya, or Cairo to Egypt etc.

All these trash talk about being accommodating is crap. Yorubas in Lagos never gave out their lands free of charge to others, rather Igbos and coughed out millions of naira to pay for them. Even swampy wastelands were sold to others at cut throat prices, and sometimes resold to different buyers and many innocent people have been scammed by the so-called land owners and omo nile is still rampant today in Lagos yet you guys will still come online to claim being accommodating.

Igbos are not traveling massively to Ibadan, Abeokuta, Ijebu ode or your other rustic towns. They are in Lagos simply because the city is home to 70% of Nigeria's economy. It wasn't the Yorubas that made Lagos what is it so why do you want to take glory in something you did not create?

Producing a medical doctor in the 19th century or watching television before France means nothing in real terms.
The missionaries first arrived Lagos, then Abeokuta before reaching out to other parts of Nigeria. Likewise, returnee slaves from America and the West Indies settled in Lagos just like how others settled in Liberia which made those immediate communities to have early exposure.

By the time the same missionaries arrived Onitsha and other areas in the East, educational enrollment in those areas spiked and by the 1950's it surpassed other areas of Nigeria.

Watching television before people in France or having educated people before others does not mean anything.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: It's Turn Of Igbo Presidency In 2023, Says Yakasai by proeast(m):
Whiteangel1234:
An elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has declared unequivocally that it should be the turn of the Igbo to produce the next President of Nigeria in 2023.

Yakasai based his declaration on the logic that other regions and zones in the country, except the Igbo of the South-east, had produced the country's president.

Yakasai, in an interview that was monitored on Arise News, a sister broadcast arm of THISDAY Newspapers, however, reminded the Igbos that it is their duty to go out and convince other Nigerians to join them to realise their aspiration to produce the country's president next time around.

He said: "Nigeria had three major blocks. Two of these three namely, the North and the West have had the opportunity of producing the President.

Therefore, Igbos have a good argument because out of the three siblings, two have already succeeded at producing the President but the Igbos have not.

"They (the Igbo) deserve the sympathy of all Nigerians for them to get it in 2023 or later. My opinion is that this is not a matter that one will lie down and think that it will come to him. Effort is needed. How do you go about it? This can only be done by persuasion to convince other Nigerians about the need for an Igbo to emerge the President of Nigeria.

"I for one - I am in support of it. I did it before in the era of NPN (National Party of Nigeria) when we had the arrangement that the next president after late President Shehu Shagari would come from the East. We would have settled this problem long ago if not for the military intervention.

https://allafrica.com/stories/202001210763.html
You're right Alhaji Yakasai. However, it is in the interest of those that want Nigeria to remain to fight for Igbo presidency. Majority of Igbos have lost faith in Nigeria due to years of injustice and entrenched bias by the central government against them. When a particular perception takes hold, it will take some time to reverse it. Igbos now largely percieve Nigeria as a state that is perennially working against their interest. They are now seeing Biafra as a better alternative which is not impossible to achieve (even though it may take some time). To a people with such mindset, they would not have that passion to pursue a presidency they do not believe in.

Now, it is your own duty, I mean you and every other person that do not desire to see Nigeria break-up to mobilize, campaign and advocate for Igbo presidency.

If you look deeply, you will discover that Igbos will largely want to remain in Nigeria if they're treated right. They've invested billions of dollars in other parts of Nigeria and for them to be willing to risk all that investments to seek for break-up shows the extent of what they have suffered in Nigeria.

It is up to you one Nigerianists to fight for Igbo presidency.

The only thing that is helping to prop up Nigeria and make it to have a semblance of nationhood is the Igbos.

Without the Igbos in northern Nigeria, the region will have the same laid-back atmosphere that characterizes most Sahel areas like Niger and Chad. Without Igbos in Western Nigeria, the zone will still be so uninspiring like Benin republic.

Igbos made those areas commercially viable and the hardwork and aggressiveness they brought into the polity is what is rubbing off on others and inspires them to work harder.

Imagine for a moment, how would places like Abuja, Lagos, Jos and P.H. be like without the Igbos? That's a food for thought.
PoliticsRe: City Of Cities; Akwa Ibom Kingdom Set To Decogest Lagos by proeast(m): 1:57pm On Jul 13, 2020
Akwa Ibom is growing relatively faster than other major oil producers like Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa. Luckily for them too, they aren't bogged down by insecurity like the others. However, for the state to really become an economic power house, they will need to attract private sector investments. So far, all I'm seeing is state government investments in infrastructures and it can't be enough to make the state an economic giant.

The state government should make sure that Ibom deep sea port becomes functional ASAP. Then liase with the federal government or NDDC to ensure that the road that connects Akwa Ibom to Abia state is dualized by Julius Berger. Lastly, the government should equally call a meeting with Igbo importers and offer them incentives to use the port.

Without a functional road and railway connecting Ibom seaport with the commercial cities of Aba and Onitsha, the port will never achieve its maximum potentials.
